And Friday they had any exclusive I'll be joined by former Massachusetts governor may be soon to be president Mitt Romney and in a moment I'll ask him to respond to President Obama spiking the football.

Over Osama bin Laden's death -- much more but first they were once political rivals but now former presidential candidate Rick Santorum.

Has thrown his support behind governor Romney in an email to supporters -- former Pennsylvania senator said that this is one of the most critical elections in our lifetime.

And I personally couldn't agree more joining me now to respond to this and much more Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

All right so we've been through a very hard long.

Hard fought typical process you have emerged the winner has a field.

Well let's say good starts who -- a lot of way to go.

The first chapter of the process seems to be over and we're coming together the various candidates who battle each other all decided that we're gonna work together to make sure that.

We we get the White House back in the hands would know what it takes to get this economy going again and to return.

They're kind of principles and values that made it's a nation we are.

So what it feels good got a long way to go obviously six months before the general election.

A lot can happen of that amount of time -- a lot can happen in that time could but on the other angle very quickly.

There's been talk.

Rumblings that I've heard governor that they might be some type of unity tour with you.

And all of the Republican.

Candidates for the primary is that true -- you discuss that -- -- -- You know I I haven't heard that rumor -- obviously welcome the support of people who left.

FEMA books we -- have every weapon and it can happen is probably really Casey tells us.

But you know I I see a number of the folks that word or candidates for the nomination and -- they've been supportive we've done events together.

And of course a number of the governors and senators who supported the people of endorsed me and so -- get a chance to see them pretty regularly and it's is pretty encouraging.

It's pretty clear now.

I think in many ways -- what the Obama campaign has planned.

They can't run on the record I make that I contend they can't run on their record.

So they've got -- Denny is a lot of class warfare there's been a lot of rhetoric that has been thrown around.

Let me show you for example this is how my.

You know bad it's gotten and is very early we still -- six months to go.

This is what the president said about the Republicans plan at this point here.

But plans we're gonna what did you American classroom construction workers back to work rebuilding America.

Rebuilding our schools.

Tax cuts for small businesses.

Thank god for hiring veterans.

That's stuff that you -- your work your braves.

And then you've got their plan which is.

Let -- dirtier air dirty water.

Whose idea is you want dirty -- governor I didn't hear you in the course of the campaign talk about dirty air and dirty water.

Does it is that you -- you -- I think the only dirty air dirty water is coming out of that clip that you just saw the president took a look of course we want clean air and clean water.

And I'm surprised to have.

He had to say that he wants tax cuts for small business.

About a fact he's raising taxes on small business from 35%.

To 40%.

That would kill jobs you know I think people who learned.

Do what he says and what he does are not necessarily the same thing.

And I think that's one of the reasons why people are disappointed in his presidency and why they want to have someone who actually get jobs in this country.

By making America a good place for job creators a good place for workers.

Great schools we know what it takes to create great schools but frankly some of the teachers unions who -- so heavily supporting him of stood in the way of the kinds of reforms that'll make our schools better so I I look forward to the debate because that we're gonna have to sort through can get to the bottom of this.

Got -- -- but let me just because.

And I guess my next question to you is it because the president can't run on I think the question and I thought you and -- line in the last night -- you won five states when you said.

Still about the economy and we are not stupid.

Now we're looking at five trillion in new Obama that -- the end of his four years as president might even as high as six trillion -- -- Obama -- the very thing any.

Criticized George Bush for call them unpatriotic.

For four trillion in eight years.

But if we're -- a deal with entitlements Medicare Medicaid Social Security.

Those -- going to be difficult decisions if we want to get to a balanced budget.

So this is the added that I think it's gotten the most attention and it seems like this is what you gonna have to deal with in the next six months and that.

Is -- you don't care about the war.

Kids with autism the sick the elderly that is a matter of fact Paul Ryan the Republicans wanna -- -- in a wheelchair over a cliff.

And they -- ran an ad has this is the -- that they ran.

Yeah.

And I.

Poor grandma got thrown over the -- I would imagine that the next that is going to be governor Romney throwing grandma over the cliff.

And this is a serious point -- This is their campaign strategy governor how even a deal with that.

Well I think it's time for the truth.

I think the American people recognize that we have important challenges.

And that we're gonna have to should have someone who will speak about those challenges and and honest and an adult way.

This kind of incendiary.

Effort on the part of the Obama team I just don't think we'll connect with the American people.

He will fire up their base but the people who will be deciding those people who voted for President Obama last time.

But not certainly wanna -- form again because these last four years have been -- harder than they had expected harder than they were told they would be.

Those people I think you're gonna take a very long and careful look at each of us here what our plans are.

And decide who has the credibility.

To actually get this economy going again look where we -- now in.

The longest slowest recovery in recorded history for this country.

And it's because the president's policies are so tune in for the old liberal approaches of the past.

They didn't work back then they're not working now we we need to get new but it -- in a new vision to get America working again.

And to restore the kind of economic vitality.

-- make sure that our kids -- the kind of future they deserve as well.

You're -- 56 points in the latest Rasmussen poll there a number of polls where you're up by one point head to head.

Obviously swing states are going to be very very important governor.

The one poll that came out this week that -- got my attention the most the political GW poll among independents you're up by ten points.

When you read these polls we are six months out what do you think of them at this this point in time.

Well if you know it's very competitive at this stage but my guess is that we're gonna be looking at these polls and all the polls.

There's just suggesting that against an incumbent with a billion dollars he's raising.

With an extraordinary machine that'll be attacking me and a personal basis day by day.

The were the underdogs.

The word of the fight very very hard to break through the clutter of the charges in the attacks and the efforts to.

Dissuade people from looking at his record.

To instead actually look at that record and -- lay out what our mission is forget in this economy going getting people back to work.

And making sure that the that the future's bright I I think we're gonna have a lot of work ahead of us.

I I think it's gonna be a competitive race.

But I expect in the final analysis the people who voted for him and are disappointed are gonna vote for me in the fall and what about Obama.

His own more of the seems that the ads you've been running up to this point and DNC -- -- -- have been running up to this point of focus very heavily on his promises.

Do you believe that this president has failed.

In his time -- in office.

Well there's no question but that the the liberal policies of the past which he has put in place in this country failed the American people.

I how else do you explain that three and a half years into his presidency.

You have 24.

Million people out of work stop looking for work it's a matter of fact the reduction in the unemployment rate.

Is due entirely.

To the fact.

That a large number of people have dropped out of the workforce.

Had those people not dropped out of the workforce the unemployment rate would be up above 10%.

That this is a that this is a presidency.

That has failed to put in place the kinds of policies that would help the American people the president says he wants to help.

Look I'm very concerned about middle income families that are really struggling I'm concerned about middle income families who dropped in the poverty mean you know -- I mean.

From time to time with families that are really struggling just just today I was with a family that.

There at a very very hard time.

They're concerned about being able to meet their obligations and and -- -- out of work for over a year.

The wife is working a job it's doing pretty well but she's got student loans to pay back that she can't Begin to make the payment side folks are having a hard time out there -- this president promised something very different and that and his policies failed us quite governor stay right -- love -- governor.
