Well disturbing new reports about the al-Qaeda bomb maker behind the recent foiled underwear plot according to these reports -- com.

All -- C -- is a master technician capable of planting undetectable bombs inside cameras.

Computers.

And even household pets.

On airplanes.

Series Seth Jones joins me now he's a former advisor to the commanding general of the US special operations forces.

In Afghanistan -- welcome good to have you here.

You know it it it seems like he.

You hear the so often about drone attacks in Yemen taking out possible al-Qaeda operatives -- that this man is clearly become the focus.

And he seems to have quite a bit of skill.

And quite a bit of motivation.

While -- he is he he has they have a fair amount of skill in putting together very innovative bombs.

Ones that we've seen recently but also as far back -- 2009.

Have a faded airport detection.

Partly because they've used no metallic components.

But also it's interesting that he's been a target of operation attacked by the US for at least three years now he's been able to -- that detection -- you know.

It it's -- sad because you look at the patterns -- al-Qaeda.

And this is the man who they believe was behind the computer cartridge effort in the plains and then after that behind the underwear bomber.

-- -- -- -- -- Both of those failed and we know from watching al-Qaeda over the years that when they fail they just keep working it keep trying to perfect it keep trying to go back and it feels and appears -- the -- evidence -- -- -- he's doing.

Well that that appears exactly what he's doing and again what's -- -- -- is.

Is Ibrahim Alice theory and other bomb makers -- now Heidi integrated pencil -- look like they are watching at the US airport screening system very carefully.

And looking for -- vulnerabilities in the system.

And so that that makes the whole series of efforts to secure our borders and airports extremely important.

You know that they've moved on to other -- -- and we know that they've attacked at western.

Very focused on the United States he has a deep seeded hatred according to his intelligence reports.

That's correct a lot of the bombs that Ibrahim -- -- has tried to put together have targeted.

Civilian aircraft or in a case few years ago very senior Saudi official which came very close to assassinating him.

But he appears to have a very anti American focus he hates the west he hates American values and would love more than anything to take -- US airplane down.

We know about the drone hit several days ago that was believed to kind of -- some of that evidence that led to this and we've heard all about the double agents incredible story.

In this case.

-- -- what's your take on what works better in terms of snuffing out these plots the drone attacks.

Or possibly you know just continues surveillance and watching these guys and trying to bring them -- -- find out what they now.

Well I think all of the above I think there are some cases where one has actionable intelligence about somebody you can't get there with a team of individuals to capture but you have a drone in the area.

That it may make sense to target using a drone.

I think if you can capture an individual like this and interrogate.

Him or her.

That can be extremely useful as we found with college Sheikh Mohammed the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks -- So -- lot of different ways to do this.
