I have the same view on marriage that I have what I would have but I was governor and that have expressed many times I believe marriage is relationship between a man and a woman.
And that Internet is not what I wanted you to see there because I promise you we were not going to talk about gay marriage anymore.
What you were supposed to hear.
Is -- is maybe available right now.
To hold us all accountable.
For making these reforms tough cuts that both parties would find objectionable.
Would automatically go into effect if we don't act.
And over the next few months -- continue to make a detailed case to these lawmakers about why I believe a balanced approach.
Is necessary to finish the job.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Americans both.
But now let's get advertises a bird's eye view from congressman bill Flores from access.
-- as an idea that maybe we ought not be having this defense sequestration.
Congressman how you doing today.
-- I'm very well Chris great to be with you tonight.
Okay so I thought you had to deal with the president and -- -- included these cuts where the Pentagon.
Why are you guys trying to undo that.
Well first of all -- -- intended for the cuts and take place we always assumed.
Perhaps now that we know that didn't work that we assumed that the the select committee.
I was going to be able to get together and finding the one point two -- -- -- cuts that we had asked that they find.
Unfortunately that didn't happen there is a -- difference envisions is that how our budget should work in this country.
And as a result of that we couldn't find common ground and the select committee so.
The Budget Committee elected to do the work of the select committee and we went through a process called reconciliation.
And -- I think we had a great result come out of that we were able to go back to the authorizing committees and -- in the find the cuts.
From other areas that were we have runaway growth and and federal spending and to be able to take some of those cuts and -- -- to to restore defense budget.
-- we've got to remember our world this is increasingly unsafe we hear about it all the time.
And so because of that we need to make sure that that that our federal government provides security for all Americans.
That that they made and so we restored those cuts.
So why do it now either conventional wisdom in town congressman is that.
All of this stuff is headed for these super duck the mega -- be lame got the mother of all -- -- sections.
That's going to take place so everybody -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Still want to wait once and then after you see how the elections go maybe the Republicans would be an advantage position to actually get the way they want it -- right now.
Well there's there's two reasons number one -- is I think America now knows clearly Republicans don't kick the can down the road we go ahead and we grasp these issues.
Ahead on.
And so -- that that's the number one reasons we're not gonna duck the issue we're gonna go and take positive action and then the second reason is so we can -- flag -- to show the American people.
The real differences and visions for this country on one hand you've got a vision.
That believes in growing -- economic -- for everybody so that we put more people back to work.
And then we also have tax reform so that we grow federal revenues because we have a greater economic activity and the other vision is heady shrink.
The share are -- reallocate history these shares are shrinking pie and and focus more on food stamps instead of paychecks and so.
We we wanted to plant that flag we wanted to do -- -- so Americans can see the true differences -- vision.
Win win do we see some movement on this I know this is coming out of committee.
We now codes and things like that.
Actually a great question it came out of committee late Monday night and Morgan about on -- tonight on the house floor about probably around 1 or 2 o'clock this afternoon.
See there you go power play making it happen for the Internet let them know what's at solving all because see you guys and and -- like this every week we don't -- the -- we we go ahead and we get her job done.
Look at -- remember we passed a budget.
This year that's another -- -- budget you call a path to prosperity -- -- porno you'd like.
And the senate -- not pass the budget in three years.
Congressman we thank you have fun today I'm sure it will be exciting over there thanks -- thanks very much for being with us.
Can't thank you Chris is right -- -- -- power -- and look forward to seeing him picture.
Good deal.
OK gentlemen I saw.
Our friend Tony that when the congressman said that the Republicans had another transformative budget features of its basic yes he -- it -- been supportive I think it you don't think -- -- transformative -- a good way right well and an -- to get to.
-- this discussion.
You know.
The idea that.
Who worked with the -- -- -- compromise.
And and I won't forget that debate when Republicans running for including Mitt Romney says -- asked a question itself.
You're gonna be facing this problem with the with the debt ceiling would you give ten.
That was our debate and -- pretty positive which you -- would you take -- -- ten dollars in budget cuts for just one dollar.
In would you trade -- -- but that's just one dollar in revenue increases and every -- hand when Robinson now.
So this idea of compromise to Republicans -- when the Democrats do.
Everything we want them that it and that's just not gonna get anywhere and that's kind of the posturing here yeah he's right they -- to stay out of -- their flag in the ground say here's we stand on the cuts but those cuts would come.
After that the hands of everybody or many people now -- almost entirely on the backs of people being helped and on programs like food stamps and things along those plus it's not that they can't be part of the next.
But entirely -- a bit much and -- -- confirmed that the fairness in this matter which is one of the reasons the Republicans.
I I I think are rejecting.
One their original deal and try to go with something.
That something entirely different now -- -- deal.
Did -- defense on the table and it made sense back then do -- Well -- appreciate that you used fairness as -- -- Because in this budget deal you have 43% of the cuts coming from the defense budget.
-- 15% coming from entitlement programs just 27%.
Coming from non title nine.
Discretionary it's better in discretionary spending so if we're talking fairness we have to make sure all levels of -- are all areas of government are seeing those cuts it's almost like you go to a family.
And they see their budget being in a deficit may have to decide where to start cutting.
We're what we're saying is let's get rid of the home security system but let's keep buying new cars.
Let's keep going I'm getting them but the latest I iPhone.
Anything wrong with that especially if you watch.
And the point being is is that look is the congressman said this is a dangerous world.
And does defense have to take its fair share it sure does.
But 43% of the cuts coming from defense fifteen coming from entitlement programs -- twenty.
Seven mid twenties coming from.
Non discretionary spending isn't fairness like you.
-- I don't know -- those Republicans -- agree with the president on the Americans who gave -- -- -- that this would be a good deal and it was supposed to be -- so -- come to a more reasonable people and that and that was the point but you've got to get in there and be willing to actually negotiating -- now the senator the senator like -- we will not electable than it was the Republican candidate and -- just replace -- -- -- as Richard -- are -- state treasurer.
Indiana.
Yes and this wonderful stance on compromise which is there will be -- That's why you elect me because I won't compromise now Republicans are taking that stance repeatedly across this country what -- is going to.
-- done the work that you reasonably say here that Bobby spared us and we haven't.
Now this.
We happening.
There have been.
Look tax cuts there are our tax increases are coming down the road we didn't want.
And let me also said that while we -- today's -- vote.
I mean he is going to look at other ways to make this more fair.
Let me say that is different from what what the house has done which is asked offered a budget with specifics.
The -- not done that they don't pass that budget in three years.
I want to I want to be where were almost anti in this segment and I just want -- very quickly gets guys on this there were many in the Republican Party.
This is not -- some small faction.
There -- many in the Republican Party were okay if the sequestration goes -- because it also includes cuts to.
Social programs they -- -- see spent there the people who are the real deficit hawks in the Republican Party say.
Sequester yourself silly go for it absolutely do it.
Is there a concern.
Before we shouldn't be -- concern for Republicans.
That.
Once you do get past the election especially if the Republican Party is more conservative even than it is now that you're gonna have more people who were on this sort of ran all school that are like as long as your cut -- I don't care how your cotton what do you think -- well.
It making programs look at how their running.
And seeing is there a better way to do them.
That actually saves money I -- many of these programs were created 5060 years ago.
And to say that they can't be done more efficiently now and ultimately save taxpayers more money so they have more money in their pocket to spend -- -- consumption society which we have that's a good thing you think there's a chance that that may have that that the new breed of Republican may say.
I don't care cuts could.
I hope -- I think -- -- more thought.
And I had I don't know anyone making the case that everything there what should be -- that I think the battle -- -- -- specifically where.
And I think -- by Republicans will say it's okay that defense is included in the and that is definitely growing sentiment inside the Republican Party and Ron -- ongoing success is a reflection of that that there are a lot of Republicans who like we are -- when you're borrowing for billion dollars today.
He got cut everything everything has to be even your eighty pieces sure I'll.
