The stakes are high and could not be higher so what do you think are the biggest topics on the news web sites today.
If biggest jobs the economy or even health care.
You guessed wrong.
The news web sites top stories or whether Mitt Romney was a -- fifty years ago and who is dining tonight with President Obama the fund Richard George -- how Hollywood house -- -- -- If you're like twelve -- other on -- Americans and do not have a job.
You may have time to read all about that stuff but no doubt you would much rather have a job and job was that really matters to you.
So what so many Americans still a lot of work do voters really care a governor Romney did when he was a teenager -- the present having dinner with tonight.
-- -- -- -- -- -- Even Harry you -- I'm -- I did a stab at that one problem but how the news media is says seems to be at least not completely or toll of at least certainly there's a significant amount of discussion about that.
Governor Romney fifty years ago and the dining did tonight -- -- Obama.
Yeah.
Well the the the George Clooney fund -- in Los Angeles is catnip to the press because it brings together.
The president and a celebrity.
In Hollywood with a lot of people who I'll walk a red carpet at the at the Academy Awards it's not substantive and really hasn't.
Very little impact on the outcome of the election but they like governing because it's -- and -- a couple things they like.
And then the other one's interesting to me -- the -- -- post rather extensive story -- -- What Mitt Romney may or may not have done when he was in high school fit as you say.
Nearly you nearly fifty years ago and that that clearly is rather odd journalism I'm not -- we learned much about that.
Governor Romney said if I did -- and -- offended people and I apologize I don't remember the incident in question.
I'm not -- it adds much to our knowledge element and and really frankly is a waste of time and energy and effort by what used to be one of the great newspapers in America and -- -- devoting this kind of resources to this kind of a story.
On the Republican candidate I don't remember them.
You know examining -- some of the -- Well -- -- -- loss to Barack Obama's lost years and occidental or what he -- a community organizer or in an in depth large story investigating.
You know well his reverend Wright's comments I did I just don't remember that maybe there was there and I missed a bit.
The seems to me to be silly journalism.
Part jobs that's what so many Americans talking and actually get out from the -- way you you go across the country -- -- -- are scared to death their houses are underwater.
They can't sell their houses to move to a job because they can't get rid of the house.
-- and it is jump still the -- descendant of the the issue for November.
Then every absolutely every poll you see.
Has the economy and jobs way out in front of any other issue everything -- by significance is generally followed by deficits and health -- and dead.
But I mean way out in front as the economy and jobs this is why the administration welcome sings like a discussion celebrity dinners in Los Angeles.
Or governor Romney's pranks.
And when he was in high school they'd like to be talking about anything but jobs.
There's a reason why.
An and an all has to do -- numbers Greta.
Remember the jobs report last week.
For every one person who got a job there were three people who dropped out of the workforce altogether.
One out of every six Americans is unemployed.
Working part time but -- desperately to get full time work or so discouraged they dropped out of the workforce and we know people everybody knows somebody is in that one out of six.
75 to 80% the American people think we're still in a recession.
-- -- thirds of the American people think that the president's policies.
Have either had no effect on the economy or have hurt the economy and then we saw this -- today from Gallup that was released.
People they were asked if after the election do you think.
If Mitt Romney wins will -- do a good job on the economy.
Pretty think President Obama will 6133.
Say that about Romney.
5244.
Say about pres Obama does -- and Limbaugh team Obama wants to talk about anything but.
Jobs economy and what are we gonna do to get our country growing again.
But as a candidate in the president of our governor rod between now -- November in -- what can you really say on jobs they haven't already said ad nauseam to the point where we all Fred Lincoln in -- their -- just doesn't really matter how the numbers actually play out and come November how it really is and not what is said between now and November this.
We all heard it now.
Yes what we have but but we also want to hear the next step and this is what's really important for Romney.
It's not simply for Romney to -- critique as I've just done what.
President Obama's done with the challenge for Mitt Romney is to find a way between now on the November elections.
The systematically lay out what it is that he will do in order to get the economy grow -- what is it that he's gonna do.
And the -- -- in terms of people who get their hands around.
And -- a -- -- the American people where they get comfortable with it.
You're right we we know you didn't -- numbers of cells will have a big impact but at the end of the day you will be the numbers themselves plus a vision on the part of Mitt Romney.
There will get it will decide whether or not he wins it will be a -- it will be the numbers and a vision on behalf of Barack Obama.
To see whether or not he can stay in office and and his vision is gonna principally be I think.
Trying to paint his opponent Mitt Romney as a rich guy who -- only cares about rich people I I was taken aback in the president's speeches CNN the kickoff speech is -- Virginia commonwealth university in Ohio State University.
He said governor Romney sincerely believes.
That have millionaires like him are prosperous and get along then -- that's all that's needed to everybody else would do okay.
Or really did can be governor -- ever say that any place I'm not familiar with him but that's -- -- that we're gonna hear during the campaign.
What I don't understand maybe it doesn't poll well but I admit I haven't heard any candidates we -- -- -- raise taxes are cut spending -- an extensive thread I've crashed Wednesday but that's essentially what this argument closed down to besides issue about whether to cut regulations and things like that.
But I never hear anyone seizing upon the enormous amount of waste and our government because.
It is so it started does it not -- because there's just so much waste -- at night after night after night talk about billions and millions and insist it's extraordinary -- government.
But nobody runs on that.
Depth look at it and the President Obama did run on in 2008 he said quote all scrub the budget line by line in and government programs to do no work.
But he -- three and a half here's to do it ended and and it's not simply credible for him to make that argument.
-- he's been making that argument by saying we need to put our fiscal house in order and cut and necessary spending but again he's gonna have to give a little substance to that.
Soon after whoever put give a little proof that he's about about what he's talking about look there's -- -- eighty some -- days left.
There's plenty of time to do it but there has to be a systematic -- the Romney campaign and the Obama campaign vols have to have a clear idea of what they want to talk about.
And when they wanna talk about it and then go delivered that in a way -- gets inside the -- and minds of Americans.
But there -- plenty of time left but but neither one of them if pres Obama's got a problem -- that he's got a record deal with.
Governor Romney's got a problem and he's got to lay out a vision in order to add to the critique that's been laid out of the president said.
-- -- Is the issue of gay marriage which is so it's just so much in the news today in light of the -- presents a statement yesterday he's in -- personally gay marriage is that going to be any factor in the race for I guess for that for president Bob and outlays since.
Brainer for governor Romney come November.
Yeah -- it'll be a south factor but it's gonna pale in significance to the economy but it will have an impact.
It'll he'll have all the positive and a negative impact for President Obama you'll energize gay activists say it will give him some more money.
He will not help them among young -- younger voters but it's gonna probably mean that'd be a look he announced it today after the North Carolina referenda on -- amending the constitution.
To -- to -- a definition of traditional marriage.
You know 6139.
Is a battleground state he won by 151000 votes.
I think he probably -- North Carolina suffers among both advocates and proponents.
-- advocates and opponents of of gay marriage because he made his statement today afterwards.
But I think it's gonna have something of an impact it'll matter a couple of close states I don't think it's inside the contest because it can't just going to be economy jobs.
Deficit spending.
Affordable Care Act and and and throughout that all the question of leadership in fact I think the biggest difficulty for the president this is probably leadership.
Because if you look it look like it Joseph Biden forced him to do this and then in the cleanup afterwards.
The Obama White House said you know what the president was gonna do this -- closer to the convention.
And you know Biden got over his skis and we sort of felt like we had to do it now well what that says is the president made it political determination.
That he was gonna make a decision on -- and make an announcement on this issue at a time calculated to give him the biggest political benefit.
And is regret is is that he was sort of forced into a buzz vice president.
Speaking his mind on a Sunday morning talk -- -- that -- exactly the son of a good leader.
Write your -- the -- -- elect -- map tonight if the election word tonight.
Who wins who loses and where's the focus.
Yeah well first all go look at that map today and I want to caution everybody you can go to this sign up for rove dot com and we'll send in the map every two weeks.
And eventually we'll start doing -- every week but it looking into it the map is unchanged from two weeks ago it it points towards.
If the election were held today Barack Obama would be closer -- a Blue States would bring him closer to an electoral victory.
Then then Romney who's represented by the red and pink states.
But the fact of the matter is this election is going to be very close and this map trails in national polls for example in the national polls we now have.
Gallup and raspy -- -- and -- of political battleground all showing governor Romney tied or ahead.
And yet this this map shows him he's behind in electoral college and that's because the poll this map relies upon polls and maybe months old take South Carolina.
For example on that map that map shows South Carolina.
As a toss up state there's no way south Carolina's going to be a toss -- state but the last poll and the only Paula we have access to.
Is December of last year during a contentious primary in which Mitt Romney was briefly behind.
From President Obama I don't think that's I was gonna turn out but out I want to start the map.
-- -- the time to really pay attention this map is later on but if you wanna sign up now she can Begin to get your biweekly hit a political opium.
Do so rove dot com and -- send you free link to it every two weeks.
You know I think -- the -- the primary yesterday Wisconsin you have Wisconsin course it's my home state of bailout attention to it.
As a state that's going to be won by president Bobby won it in 2008 by a huge margin.
I think in light of the fact that the good governor Scott Walker got more votes the Democrats combined in the primary an enormous a number of Republican votes.
I think that that could change the dynamics in that state.
Yeah absolutely look I think Wisconsin -- things going to be where are we on the morning of June 6.
If Scott Walker wins this by -- margin of -- -- fifty to 485347.
-- and then Wisconsin is going to be Wisconsin of 2002004.
You may remember bush and narrowly lost by less than 5000 votes I think it was Wisconsin in 2000 and half a percent in 2004.
-- It is if what if walker wins that it could -- Wisconsin could be a battleground state.
If walker loses or if it's a very narrow narrow narrow narrow victory.
Then Wisconsin could be more like 2000 I were Barack Obama won with a double digit win.
Copyright and that's going to be an -- -- to watch that.
