-- for the past five years military spouse magazine has recognize exceptional military spouses who dedicate their lives about their families and their country.
And issue for the first time ever the military spouse of the year isn't a mother it's a father joining us now is maybe better.
We -- this year's military spouse.

-- -- -- -- Good morning guys think you're -- measure that that's a wonderful achievement.
Tell us you had a problem with you beauty -- beautiful young daughter Kate.
You and your wife were both serving this country proudly.
And then you decide I'll stay at home and help take care of Kate.
And you've actually -- your -- I -- five different times in that period.
Tell us about your -- -- -- military spouse.
Well it's -- national honored to be.
The military -- of the year and what we experience is really not that dissimilar from what a lot of military families face.
My particular daughter had disability and I made the decision.
-- -- the deployment of the navy at the time.
That made more sense for our family to allow me to get out this and take care of -- In my life continue to serve our country so you left your job as a naval officer -- -- stay at home dad now and now you're advocating for for families of military personnel right.
I am and it's really quite the honor no kidding.
So I guess there where where -- five other female nominees for this award.
There were there were five other female nominees from -- to the services this is our very first year to have a National Guard -- the year.
And I'll just tell you you.
The other spouses are amazing these women have done such amazing things and it's really an honor to be with them.
I know that you said that you got to know all of them in and you really.
Enjoyed that and appreciated it and that you all decided that you're okay with whomever won right.
We really -- and if you look at some of the other bios.
And I'll do you one example -- that the marine push thus the -- she started this program -- stroller warriors.
And it's all about supporting military families and if you look at each of their -- that's that's what -- about.
And we're trying to make sure there are men and women in uniform.
Had the support they need two out and fight for our country how -- we do that how we support you it's so important.
What can we do this is regular Americans.
Well I think the big thing is you hear a lot that saying think -- -- means a lot to our -- million women in uniform and their families.
With a lot of people deployed and particularly when -- think about the National Guard and reserve when you have military families you may not know about in your community.
Search them out find them find ways to support them didn't makes a big difference to our country absolutely mr.
-- how -- -- nominated.
Mya my wife Renee nominated me and that was a big guy -- because a lot of what our spouses do sometimes kind of goes.
Policy unappreciated but it's it's sometimes forgotten.
And so it was a big thrill for me to have her nominate me.
It's a wonderful and as we celebrate Mother's Day this weekend in your family it's going to be a dual celebration.
