Welcome back everybody glad -- with us on Friday when talk about couple different health stories now first.

This one has to do with psychiatric conditions -- there are some changes.

That had been made or proposed in a guy that's used by psychiatrists.

Around the country that could have a profound effect on on the way that people are diagnosed and treated for the various.

Disorders that they may have been here to talk to us about this is French German.

Who is a licensed psychotherapist -- joining us from Miami this morning.

Nice to see you thanks very much for joining us what what's the -- my pleasure what's the headline here what what's been changed.

Well the good thing is that there undergo the diagnostic manual they're going to the DSM five which should come out in the fall in the summer.

And -- they're they're starting to create some new diagnosis codes which is sort of like the Bible how we choose what what you know how we go through.

What people are diagnosed with which really affects the treatment.

Two of the things that were.

Announced yesterday that we're not going to be part of the DSM.

Five wasn't attenuated site psychosis syndrome which really means that.

You will get -- diagnosis people without possibility.

Of psychosis.

Which is a very serious mental disorder before they even had the disorder.

So that one's been kicked out thankfully.

Not because he know if you think you are then you are so -- telling people.

You're gonna have alzheimer's a telling people you're gonna be psychotic.

What you know that really affects the psyche terribly the other -- that they ruled out is called.

Anxiety depressive disorder which I think should really be a part of the new DSM five.

Because the majority of patients I see are depressed and anxious.

And did they really sort of go hand in hand.

What is this I mean -- what does this mean practically speaking for folks out there who are.

Seeking medical help.

Four you know for whatever it is that they're dealing -- Right -- you know the diagnosis is sort of it's it's less important.

Then I mean that people want to know what the diagnosis is but but it's really.

It's more about how you treat somebody the treatment that they get to help them with -- disorders whether it be a combination of -- -- -- And -- -- therapy -- cognitive behavioral therapy.

So the actual diagnosis code is not so important to the patient it's really more important -- the practitioner.

And the guidelines that we used to treat the patient so for example if somebody is has bipolar disorder we know.

How to treat them what they need for treatment in this particular case they're rolling out these two possible diagnoses one of which I think would be a great diagnosis.

But again it matters more to the practitioner.

-- -- the patient because.

If you know the diagnosis code you know how to treat the patient.

So.

I tried -- to get my -- too caught caught up in their diagnoses because then they start thinking all these things that really aren't helpful to them.

There was it what was there -- mention about autism and and and these latest recommendations and and and what -- what was said about that.

Well in in the latest recommendations there really thinking about changing the autism diagnosis because it's very broad.

And you can label somebody under the autism spectrum which is about this big there are so many different diagnoses within that -- some spectrum.

So they're trying to would find that which would be very helpful.

Because now everybody sort of labeled.

With autism or Asperger's and they're really very different on the -- spectrum but they're very different diagnoses and it really does.

Affects.

How we treat you know how we and we treat the patient again whether it be just medicine medicine and psychotherapy which is generally.

The most effective form of of of treatment.

But that is a big contention and they will change some of those diagnoses codes.

A lot of research is gone into -- and they have continued to updated.

But it's you know it it really is important to the practitioner.

And sometimes you look at the diagnoses -- and you say well.

They have a little bit at this and a little bit of that right so you try to combine and pick the right diagnosis -- The person French chairman is a licensed psychotherapist.

Joining us this morning from Miami -- she's based in South Florida -- practices thank you so much for talking to us about this there is an article on foxnews.com.

If you're interested in learning more about these these proposed changes.

To the psychiatric guide.

Thank you very much nice to talk with you my pleasure thank you so much for -- to --
