All right of course any kind of bullying is bad bullying on the basis of sexual orientation is follow us but.
Goodness me Jim could you go back can -- -- -- high school record and find you did not ever take part in any kind of but I -- pranks or whatever -- involving other students I mean it seems to me that this.
Was a little bit of a stretch while condemning any kind of bullying it seems to me that this was.
Really dragging something -- -- somebody's cost which is hard to make relevant today.
Well as for this way.
The media show an enormous fascination.
For this story from 1965 which Romney doesn't really tonight on their hand that you said -- and have everybody recognizable and most people are sort of embarrassed.
They're yearbook photo if nothing else from from from from high school -- and how this became a front page story in the Washington and led ABC news -- Thursday night and lead and -- in a producer at NBC news.
Compared to for example much more recently you know at at the exact same -- Barack Obama's.
Admitted drug use you can if you wanna if you're curious about his drug and alcohol history as a -- -- as a minor.
You can go to his own book and hear his own voice as he did the books on tape version of it this is just an astonishing example.
Actually sort of the -- -- -- my -- bash.
I was with just -- ahead here -- had to say -- how how could be that one story is all over the place and the other story is just on the -- marinade.
Does seem to me that that Jim is it is got a point here and not that I -- think he was gonna point obviously the problem.
But hey -- that does seem a stretch to me high school pranks.
Now it it I think.
-- is missing the point on this one when people vote for president is the most personal vote they cast ever and for many people they only vote.
Once every four years for that office.
So people have to get to know and like you before they believe in trust you if you don't do those four steps in that order you're not going to present -- United States.
People don't know Mitt Romney -- and what they know of him they don't like him and you see that in the polls so he's.
Barack Obama told the world about his lies wrote a book about it recorded at its all out there.
That's not the case of Mitt Romney Mitt Romney is not very forthcoming about who he is as a person he is reluctant to talk about his faith.
He's reluctant to talk about you know his time here as governor he's reluctant to talk about many of his business deals.
So now this picture is getting painted.
For him.
And I think frankly when I look at him politically.
You take that incidents -- yes everybody did pranks but I don't know many people who like.
Got took a kid put him on the floor the bunch Vatican and cut his hair.
And I think when you look at some of the things Mitt Romney did politically he -- Jane Swift that there is sitting governor first sitting woman governor.
Out of office so he could run unopposed -- you seen many other incidents here when he was in it it as governor.
In in business so if you're not like Mitt Romney he's not for you and I think that's the story that's getting painted here.
Unless and until he defines himself differently or better than he has so far.
I could tell you some tales of -- went on the -- summer with my rugby team on the way to -- games that -- make your -- curled in a -- guys get it (%expletive) that up there and and that's the survivors are.
That's.
083 prime minister John key.
I know I don't know I -- negatively I -- never gonna run for any kind of office what sort of way too many skeletons in my closet thank you very much.
I think that the look I agree I.
We experience point even if you dispute mind.
But what I would say though is it's not it's the media the way the meteor -- you know them than -- she's right and Obama did proclaim I have these flaws name but the media are not interest.
In chasing down all the issues associated with a who's who the drug dealers who you know who's involved in -- authors -- at all.
And they're intensely interest in the -- and Romney is kindergarten.
-- now and let -- -- and on this trail.
What about that -- that there is a double standard at least in the way that the media is covering this because they did -- old job -- a lot of them didn't jump.
All over this.
-- high school story from page of the Washington Post as James said leading ABC news world news tonight or whatever it's called these days.
Good Clinton is there a double standard.
No I -- look.
Barack Obama has been vetted he wrote two books he ran for -- the United States he ran for the United States senate people know him and know him well.
And they still like him despite what people think about the economy and everything else.
That is not the case for Mitt Romney you cannot go through.
Running for president and not have who you are as a person revealed no matter how button down and disciplined you are who you really are.
Always comes out and I think we're seeing that wouldn't it running in the clip you played earlier.
About what he said was the third or fourth version he finally got to that point he should've started there and -- a little better about it so.
Any in any political campaign but especially for president.
You have to define yourself or someone's gonna do it for you and that's exactly what's going on right now because.
Every -- the information that Mitt Romney's life history and in is and -- he is as a person has been so spare.
And so controlled that it looks like he has something to hide.
Then you have an incident like this and it looks like he has something to hide.
There -- a couple of our viewers weighing in here casino -- says I disagree with -- marianas saying Obama in the drug use -- -- -- we get big enough.
In to them we -- have a good one also from LG which is an interesting point LG sixty that he was as.
I do not care what someone did in high school I -- know their plans for the future show why should they be president but.
-- -- is right so in that we do judge people that.
Obviously she she is right again it'd -- the issue businesses that -- just every injury and this is about how the media are complicit in this.
Different differential between Obama of the well known well like I -- around me though not well known not elect got but let's just take this fellow's this LD 1631 there.
And it in terms of the future David Ignatius has the column in the Washington Post this morning Chris says it without really sourcing it but -- sort of -- -- pretty well.
Plugged in guy and bring.
What Obama looks forward to doing in his second term and I don't have -- economy but it was.
More on global warming.
Middle East peace I mean it was just -- it was a list of things.
I think our controls on their -- it was stuff.
They should be debated.
Does he really does present a momma because we -- really plan on re submitting cap and trade -- -- have in mind a carbon tax and those are questions -- whose fault whose fault is it that would not debating that marianas is that we the media who a focus city.
Do we too easily focus on these personal issues when we should be looking at the policy issues.
But look -- inextricably linked I mean I have no doubt we'll get to every issue Jim listed in many many more.
But ultimately -- in every campaign is every election on Election Day and especially for president.
A voter says do I trust this person to keep their word and the only way you can determine that is by getting to know them you just don't carte Blanche.
On anything in life.
A product of -- business anything's say.
I trust you you have to get to know of that person to get to know that business center.
Then -- you decide I'm gonna vote for you -- do business with you I'm gonna work -- do that -- that's -- trust comes from you -- have the best policy ideas -- the world.
And if you look back at the polls Al Gore and John Kerry both overwhelmingly voters like their positions better.
Then George Bush but they didn't like them enough to trust them.
And that's why they lost.
-- your your point though is that when it comes to do it to focusing on the personal.
That -- off that the -- believe that the media focuses.
-- mall on the personal failings if you like all of Republican candidates rather than democratic.
Right -- mean for example Obama's college transcripts.
Who you know he had he hasn't been forthcoming about that at all.
And doesn't seem -- and more than doesn't seem this is adamant about not releasing them for whatever reason and the media -- curious who the media aren't tracking down every last professor had a real -- classmate here as.
Only but it didn't we didn't we have a huge focus on.
Then candidate and then President Clinton didn't we have a -- didn't we did we talk a great deal about Al Gore is a slow little backing Tennessee when he was running I mean is it really it doubles so welcome it might be they like Obama better.
And then -- like Al Gore has not hard to -- and maybe better than Bill Clinton.
That's the point that's exactly the point that you cannot underestimate.
How important that is if you go back through.
Every president since 1980 they liked Reagan better they liked the first bush better they like W better and he was vetted as hard as everybody else they didn't like gore they didn't like Kerry.
They didn't like McCain.
They like Obama better I mean the one you like better always wins and then they -- they look at the issues because at the end of this.
Every issue we're talking about it is Jim in -- room without something we can't we can never predict that things that a president's gonna face.
But you want to be able to trust that person to protect you and make the right judgment.
That's why trust is so important lot of our view is so weighing in on this is Israeli the interesting them I think.
Griffin 57 whose -- -- him personally she's -- stuff we can relate to.
And pay attention policy issued coverage is usually kind of -- two minutes in we change the channel on that haven't changed the channel.
On this occasion -- And staffing issues.
Yes exactly and even at 606 says Obama is set for a suppressed so much about himself.
It begs the question why I've just sticking with -- with Sarah's going on the on the media as well Jim not to get too inside baseball but.
We kind of react to all of us have world ratings driven the answer is right to some extent isn't she -- -- how many people actually read.
They the 5000 would article back meet with the new nuclear arms policy in the New York Times how many people read -- the peace that can -- -- Sheehan all.
There are -- candidates love life and the similarly with TV.
That -- exactly right and and that does there's been criticism.
Television you know her half a century is that it you know ever -- John Kennedy beat Richard Nixon.
People thought would do is -- -- what were really supporting her -- Whatever you think it Nixon as a person in 1960 he had been vice president for eight years you've been a US senator congressman.
You have that -- -- -- the -- experience and was it.
It -- keep Kennedy defeated -- and and if you look at the Kennedy commercials of 1960.
They make no effort.
Talk about assumptions are like this is like that there's -- you can go to you to a -- like Kennedy Kennedy Kennedy jingle all this is a little song of people holding signs.
Cartoon people holdings as Rick Nixon was given -- ponderous speeches.
-- six is that commercials out.
Artist draws.
Nixon lost and that was a signal -- every political consultant every candidate ever since look.
Don't get on the wrong side of the charisma gap so -- it is alt.
And only allow a full -- here in TV.
Well I wouldn't go that -- look at all of the debates did during the during the Republican primary.
And especially the ones on fox -- millions of people watch the debates I have no doubt that's gonna happen this fall as well.
So you that you can't separate it that they're the two are inextricably -- -- so that before.
You you can have the best ideas -- the world if you can't sell them and people don't like you it does not matter you can be the most charismatic person in the world but if you don't have some substance behind it that's not gonna work either.
All right -- -- former advisor to Senator John Kerry thank you go oh yes and yes ma'am irate when you were being Parker faceoff you go -- require does not what do I asked to before you -- Roosevelt of course you'll Roosevelt right.
Yes you would be -- blocking the who I believe would be -- -- I know that's me that's just me all over while we double B pocket thanks for being here don't we do so long next time.
I know I'm sorry alone I thanks marry and have a great weekend and Jim -- -- who you will see on FOX News Watch.
