We've got Monica originate galapico's Iran nickel -- I should've asked -- that while we were chatting about other things she's a licensed nutritionist and the nutrition diva.

At quicken dirty tips at nutrition.

But my husband had to have his -- ruptured.

-- major surgery.

Doesn't walk for six months -- along a lot but the doctor said he needs a high protein diet I don't eat red meat don't servant in my household very often.

Simon giving him a steady diet of right me and I'm reading through your notes and I'm thinking.

Saying what I did red meat isn't really.

As bad as that studies and the statistics tell us.

Well one of the things that we're here to do today to try to dispel some of the myths that get swirling around foods.

And we have had this sort of steady drumbeat of headlines lately about let me how it increases your health risks and shortens your lifespan but there's something very important it's missing from the coverage -- that is the amounts involved.

The people that are seeing is increased -- stating -- me.

Two -- more times a day.

And by the way those same people also tend to be getting fewer fruits and vegetables they're not exercising as much of -- a couple of things going on here.

But I think we don't wanna throw the baby out with the bath water you know red meat is a good source of protein yeah B twelve not a -- thing is what you need when you're recovering from surgery is very good advice that your husband surgeon gave him to be increasing his -- and take.

To support his recovery.

But the important thing about red meat is that it definitely fits into -- healthy diet and the study show that people who are eating red meat a couple of times a week.

As opposed to a couple of times today and we're not seeing any of those health risks so.

That's that's a little bit of -- picture that dispel that myth let's continue with that -- for second.

Our environmental poisons actually to blame for the obesity after him.

This is an interesting little research topic that surfaced lately in the news couple of researchers are suggesting that maybe this is -- hidden cause of our obesity and the epidemic you pesticides in the put -- -- -- on our.

Instead we grow them bigger and keep them.

-- very long and -- well I keep fit it lasting longer -- to bring them home that to hear what we need to understand about this this is a very theoretical.

Proposition at this point there's only a few small studies in lab rats that might.

Support this but I suspect that if they end up actually establishing a connection here.

Paris this is going to be.

A very small part of the picture I'm still convinced that the biggest impact on our obesity problem is what we're putting our mouth not what we're spraying on our vegetables.

And the other thing is that.

Even if it does have some sort of impact.

It's very difficult to have with these chemicals even -- you're eating.

All we're giving you know we learned that the hard way whoever the the spinach E.

Coli epidemic we have and they were trying to source it.

And what we learned is you couldn't cook kicked out of the spinach because they they tracked it down to some -- south of the border in Mexico where it was in the irrigation.

And so the plant had grown up with this contaminated water it was in the stat line you couldn't cook it we couldn't wash it off you know if you get that the vegetables hot enough it will you -- that -- occasionally get it you could mean a couple.

-- -- -- -- Dirty -- Is the other thing that we're hearing about and I'm curious about this because your antioxidants you know everybody talks and I got -- -- your antioxidants off the charts won as many in your systems.

It helps with your immunity in your memory and everything else helps recover from injury answered yes I don't giving him -- -- steady diet of nice and eat strawberries raspberries blueberries and before -- -- -- -- you can watch these things but I'm told that you should always buy this organic.

If that's true.

What you know he.

When you can't buy all organic produce or -- because it's not available -- not a -- -- if it does make sense to prioritize your purchases.

To those -- that tend to be higher in pesticides I think the -- that varies caused particular -- so many of those come from South America.

We had a growing conditions favor -- your round two were importing those from.

From south American countries.

And we're not always important as in control with a growing conditions and that were not -- control it all down there yeah so it may make sense if you're gonna pick and choose to to go ahead and spend your organic dollar.

On berries especially when -- imported from South America.

So the bottom line is the latest through surge isn't always the most reliable guide.

Well I think what's really -- is the way gets past that.

Into you know blurred doubt in the headlines and sound bites always give you a full understanding if so what's up there right now that she just it drives you nuts when you hear it.

Then that energy drinks.

These things they're -- with a high levels of B vitamins and and people are going and spending so much money and energy drinks to -- -- yeah Kool Aid they do they do but you know at.

It's a complete Melamine derivative -- run through and you look at the label -- -- something like 12100%.

Of them argue for.

B twelve I mean surely that must be something for you.

Not really you know your body needs some B vitamins to make energy but that doesn't mean taking these huge doses is gonna make that process go faster.

Or that you feel energized.

If you're feeling -- bump in energy it's probably the sugar.

-- the caffeine.

And not -- -- -- the placebo effect but.

I know I may not -- live chat I asked the question of people -- organic and and bill 67 Fortson writes I think organic as a marketing ploy.

David Larsen writes I -- -- -- -- as much as I can't you know what I'm growing -- my -- spices in the kitchen and my three year old keeps coming in and -- that doesn't believe that the nasal.

But you know I find it to be cheaper I go to the -- and everything's more expensive you know the closer you get to near city.

But I got to the store and it's expensive to buy a little pack of basal but I thought up.

For many kinds of three.

I harvest at all season long makes a lot of -- -- -- I have to tell you honestly I -- a lot of vegetables and my vegetable -- -- I think to be way cheaper for me to buy them even organically I spend so much fun I'm not content.

That's very -- together greatly with the -- they really -- that's a great investment are easy to grow they're really -- I love our our viewers are like that the earth.

-- -- really fun I don't buy organic anything and get most of my food from the land and what I do buy a buy fresh all all for jury I want to move in with these people growing their own you know.

To great point you know people have this idea that organic vegetables are going to be more nutritious this is another myth that -- talked about in some of my books on -- nutrition myths.

The truth is that fresh vegetables are going to be more nutritious and -- -- that you.

Picked up at the farmers market yesterday.

Even if it was conventional probably going to be more nutritious than that -- made -- that was.

And he didn't care and lures and that's a great point that's pitchers and festivities want to says really important Chris -- once those organic way to expensive I can't afford organic we have just have to stretch the -- a lot further than we used to very end and so what you're saying is.

You know what Chris -- fine despite perhaps you know if you can -- -- -- that's -- if you can't you shouldn't let that scare you off from eating fruits and vegetables because the benefits.

How far outweighed the potential risk from the pesticide exposure Monica Ryan able licensed nutritionist and -- nutrition -- and you see why now a look at that.

-- blog and you do all that stuff quick and dirty tips that nutrition diva on Twitter love to hear from your from your you know I'm sure you -- Thank you.
