One of those things this administration came in and access to do was to reset the relationship between the United States and Russia in part because a lot of -- -- -- help us.

With -- dealing with Iran Iran's nuclear enrichment program.

But the reset seems to advance -- So -- and sense of what you think -- reset with Russia has -- and whether we've gotten anything for.

Yeah I think you're right the reset has been stuck and it's it's it's become stuck just -- in large part because of just the facts on the ground as we've we've seen with the return of -- Vladimir Putin has as president.

President Obama.

And his administration made the case in 2009 that we need a different tone.

And they strongly believe that we.

Who got the Russians to compromise on several issues become more helpful on Iran.

Become more helpful on Afghanistan and some of our transit routes into and out of Afghanistan for justice and our military supplies and this for our effort there.

They also we're very proud of their achievement of negotiating the new start agreement.

Now I would argue that on each of these issues.

They've it's been oversold by the administration terms of whether it's a success and some of them such as the new start agreement I think it's is generally questionable.

Treaty in terms of what it actually accomplishes.

What we've.

Given up essentially I'd argue is.

Any willingness on the part of this administration to speak frankly with Russian leaders about their own political situation.

And I think that's really quite shameful especially given that we've seen that the return of -- has actually caused many.

Russians to start taking to the streets for the first time in in decades and I think.

There is change coming in Russia I think we should be on the side of the protesters some of those who are championing the rule of law freedom of the press.

And -- might I know I'm not in general opposed to.

Trying to improve relations the Russia but I don't think it should come at the cost of some of those fundamental.

Political issues in the US Russian relationship.
