That's the share of Democrats in the latest Fox News people who say they are backing President Obama.

That's four points higher than the Republican support for Mitt Romney this is power play and a welcome back Internet and welcome back to Steve -- who what are the Internet has been yearning for you and actually complaining that you were not here enough so here are you are you happier he said I'm thrilled to be back here on the Internet yes good that's what that's what they like.

So the question is.

In this latest Fox News poll.

-- jaws are at -- and in several precincts.

Because we've seen a trend line that says.

President Obama neck and neck and neck and neck always and we see -- -- that says seven points.

As I wrote in the power play which you can get.

Here you -- you you can get it just fine.

When he on Twitter at -- -- -- it's right there it's awesome just click it's free.

But the as I wrote about today.

If this if the electorate looks like.

What we see -- in this poll.

On November 6 Mitt Romney will get current rush -- and the problem for Mitt Romney in this sample of human beings is that independents.

Are going to get a break -- for President Obama.

They're just walking away I mean you -- a fourteen point increase in the percent of independents that said that they were undecided when you have it a big ship like that.

Says that in this sample of people independents are grossed out candidate presidents.

There close I mean look the politics -- one of the reasons people are independent is because they're grossed out by the process right this is true.

I think direct well continued in other polls we've seen you know where there's been -- -- gender gap in favor -- President Obama you've seen.

Mitt Romney makes that up to a certain extent with independents and and the numbers sometimes -- as something of a bounce.

This -- the case I think President Obama was up 22 points with women Mitt Romney.

Did not make that up among independents there's also though I think you know this point that that that you're making with the 88% of the 88% of Democrats were behind.

President Obama he was 84 for Mitt Romney which is which is not bad given the place primary and -- -- But it's down -- in you know you'd expect that it would rebound at a point.

Hopefully for Romney -- -- on Romney's team.

Relatively soon there's another number inside the -- that I think he says basically the same thing.

And that is are you satisfied with your candidate -- 74% of those who support president bomber -- I think it was just 59%.

Of those who are supporting a Romney are satisfied with their candidate and then even deeper inside that we asked people why.

They're supporting these individual candidates among Romney supporters 43%.

So they were supporting Mitt Romney because he's not President Obama the first -- The Greg -- says.

Power plays exactly right so obviously rate cycle.

So this is exactly why conservatives were dirty word about the field.

And not excited for Romney.

Romney needs an awesome.

VP pick.

Right now.

And you talking there about that gap between -- the other thing to remember this is very important to remember.

Independents are their own political species they go across the ideological spectrum you have them.

Who who independents who are.

Ultra liberal and you have independents who are ultra conservative it just means they don't affiliate with a party.

And for those conservative independence.

How much does Romney need to -- We think -- -- think -- VP pick is one of the few areas where he can really have an impact and win and win over.

Maybe some of these conservatives who are still skeptical I mean I was nearly obsessed with this throughout the primary process as you know.

We talked about a -- power play to talk about an hour special report you and I talked about it over Beers I think a three hour conversation -- 12100 I decided okay Beers.

It's you know that's right those -- -- -- anything yet half the states and Washington the product -- West Virginia that's right.

But didn't look this I thought this was something similar to that Mitt Romney might struggle if he were to be the de facto nominee I think he's doing better than I expected with the conservatives.

Tom but they're not all there yet.

I I would say if you're conservative you have to be encouraged by the way these campaigns over the past few days this is guy -- you not campaigning on you merely on the unemployment numbers.

He's talking about debt and deficits and cutting spending even had the debt clock in Florida with -- -- that was big for conservative that was pretty -- that was a pretty don't move he shows up with Smart with.

The debt clock.

And and you'll see it later in the show but it's it's a facsimile of the one that is -- -- her and a New York right that's on the while the sixteen trillion dollars.

So it's good for him to prosecute this stuff.

But you know Rick Santorum when he closed out his campaign.

It was it was not with.

Newt Gingrich is is sort of -- -- Stop worrying and learning to -- the bomb threat but for Santorum.

His heart was definitely not in that it was up late night endorsement in a letter yeah it was passive voice endorsement and then long after he suspended his campaign a direct mail vendor dropped.

-- really unhappy -- direct mail piece about Mitt Romney in Iowa and it was like we couldn't stop it was in the pipeline.

Does Santorum and we talk about this a lot does Santorum does Romney need for Santorum to get jiggy with this and just -- come out you know I I don't think.

Guess I don't but -- a -- was not somebody came to this.

2012 campaign.

With a huge files if somebody who had people who had supported him.

Nationally for years -- had big fund -- base -- like 25000 bucks in the bank account three weeks out of the Iowa Caucuses.

So it wasn't somebody who brought with him this long.

Long held.

Voter base so I don't think it's important -- to be helpful for Romney I also think if Santorum and had this discussion before too.

It if Santorum thinks he has a viable political future he's setting himself up for the future he wants to be sort of the spokesman for conservatives particularly.

Social conservatives I think this is self defeating I mean.

You lost its over you made a good campaign you took advantage of of a small window you -- did considerably you -- and strong.

But at this point if you want to be a viable candidate how is it that -- not getting warmer embraced the guy that you had endorsed four years -- there.

Stephen FK's he's -- senior writer for the weekly standard and you should be on the look out by the way for this native Wisconsin nice peace.

On the recall election there it's going to be in the next addition it will be certifiably awesome I guarantee.

Steve makes a lot of pressure it's a lot of pressure you better deliver things in my -- time and done.

Guess what.
