The face of America is change and one baby at a time national correspondent Steve -- -- it tells us about minorities.

Now in the majority.

This crucial demographic tipping point was long expected in points to a much more diverse future for America.

Census Bureau figures show more minority babies now being born then nonhispanic whites.

-- the result of an aging baby boom population and a surge of immigrants mostly Hispanics in their childbearing years it.

For now the US still has a white majority but that's not true in every state.

By far the largest and fastest growing minority population is Latino growing at three point 1% a year.

These new numbers come at a time of tension over immigration in the courts and in politics.
