Welcome back everybody empty promises from Tea Party freshman in Washington that's -- a new report from the conservative group club for economic growth -- -- That has some folks really angry that these freshman are holding true to the principles that got them elected.
Joining us -- -- discuss the issue Tea Party express chairman.
Amy Kramer and south Carolina Republican congressman -- -- -- great to have you both here thank you so much he scored very well congressman Kevin I understand it.
Thanks and I appreciate that well taking a look at this report on averaged.
The freshmen Tea Party Republicans voted about the scene as a Republicans who -- already in office for example.
Only fourteen -- signed a pledge promising to never raise debt ceiling until.
Cut cap and balance -- past Amy were you surprised by these results.
I'm yeah actually I was surprised at.
Because if you listen to what the mainstream media has been say -- what.
You know the left has been saying for months is that the Tea Party movement in these Tea Party freshmen -- drive and the country over the close and we actually -- the credit downgrade and this proves that there's nothing farther from the truth that we know who's causing the gridlock of Washington DC and that's scary raid but you know at the end of the day we need more strong fiscal conservatives in Washington in the house and the senate.
Because it's easier for these people to stand.
For the conservative principles and values when they have a lot of people CNN -- on them when they're going up against the anti.
Our conference themselves.
After you scored 99.
Out of the listed above freshman do you think I need your colleagues who didn't do so well are not holding -- -- core values that got them elected in the first place.
Well it's -- -- you have to go and watch their actual races that.
And the doesn't bother me as many runs as a moderate votes as a moderate doesn't bother me some and runs as a conservative and votes is a conservative with woods but I struggle with -- the folks who run as conservatives -- -- vote as moderates make it very difficult trusted.
To keep on message I'm glad the club keeps keeps up of these report cards and things have -- folks back home to figure out.
If they got what they bargained for in the last elections if they did -- support those folks again and if not -- they can fix it this year.
Well there may -- -- like kind of Al west and others who are very outspoken Tea Party activists who didn't use a great west came out at 64%.
And voted to raise the debt ceiling -- reportedly voted against spending cuts.
What does that say about his record -- -- you know I think it.
Did it's up to their constituents and their district that's our job to educate these people -- Powell the represented have voted.
Because you're it's highly unlikely that you're gonna get somebody more conservative than -- last in that district he.
The way that we want attend to on every single issue that you have to think -- who he represents as well the same thing with Scott Brown in Massachusetts you know a lot of people say he's a moderate.
-- he may be a moderate to me because I'm from the very -- conservative states.
But he's conservative for the state of Massachusetts so we have to take -- and says you know put that into play with the whole thing it's not so easy.
To just paint everybody with one single stroke.
Congressman -- -- -- the Tea Party going to be it's effective and it was back in 2000 Canon says this report showcase.
Hypocrisy that many apathetic voters say exist today among elected officials want to get to Washington.
But -- think it'll be as effective this year as it was two years ago you saw that last week in Indiana.
You're seeing it right now in Texas you're seeing a to a certain extent in Utah even if the Tea Party candidates there aren't successful they're still.
Changing the nature of the dialogue we're talking now about deficits and spending.
And not about health care and and the growth of government so I think by any measure the Tea Party movement has been successful and will continue to be.
So when you go forward with this in in terms of strategy in terms of holding their feet to the fire so to -- what will groups like viewers do with congressman who or not.
A voting in a way that you'd like to see happen.
Well you know mobile were focused on is were focused on taking back the United States senate if we can get more conservatives in the senate such as Ted Cruz Richard Murdoch and other conservatives.
Senators to stand with -- -- and my -- and at Rand Paul.
I think did it will push them off further to the right and so we'll -- systems more fiscal conservative policies but also I think you want -- people my house to be more conservative because what we've seen over this past.
Congress is that.
Time and time again legislation passed out of the house and it goes to the senate and it's only table they're they don't -- they don't bring it for an up or down vote.
So I think you know if we get a conservative senate I think that it's gonna encourage.
More fiscal conservatives to stand strong both in the house and the senate and that's what we're focused on but at the end of the day it's the constituents -- -- have to decide if they -- -- reelect -- representative and if not.
They can be voted out just as fast as they were voted -- Indeed all right thank you very much for both of you think he's -- from -- you leave your comments on this issue we really appreciate it.
Thank you.
