Supporters for governor Romney and President Obama clashed over fundamental differences.
That each man has in the -- -- economic policy.
House Budget Committee chairman -- Paul Ryan excuse me says the Obama administration is stifling the free market system in his opinion here's some of that.
We believe the genius of American free enterprise is the individual small business the risk taker.
And the government should remove those barriers for success what happens when the government.
Sees itself as a venture capitalists they end up taking lots of losers.
And we see a system of crony capitalism which is really care -- into the system it's not working the economies and stagnation right now look Chris.
For every person who find a job last month which was not a lot.
Three people gave up looking for a job.
-- -- -- the Obama campaign tried to poke holes in Romney's record as governor.
Of Massachusetts here's Austan Goolsbee on that.
The nation was in a -- Massachusetts was doing almost the worst of all the states in terms of job creation.
The reason you saw jobs growing is because government jobs.
Or rising six times faster.
Then the national rate Massachusetts.
There is a reason why when governor Romney stepped down from office he had a 36%.
Approval rating by the people in his own state and that was during a boom.
This is a fascinating discussion it was on FOX News Sunday and it was led by Chris Wallace and I'm joined now by Kirsten Powers.
Daily Beast congress and Fox News contributor and just in safety is a former Jeb Bush spokesperson welcome to both of you.
I really felt that these two men over the weekend outlined in -- really what the American people need to focus on in terms of the two different approaches.
To fixing the US economy Houston -- yeah how do you think they -- -- And -- the Obama administration's argument that that Mitt Romney did not create that many jobs did does that does that get them somewhere.
I think I'm and I think it's important to note that especially if it's it was drying up.
That's -- I think that what's more important is what he plans to do in the future and so.
And they they what they've already done a snow continues to do -- to contrast between.
The Ryan plan which Mitt Romney has endorsed and and what Obama has.
Spent you know put forth.
And I think that if you look at that that the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center has said that.
Obama's plan would reduce the deficit by.
Two million and that or is it two trillion and then it -- Brian I would actually increase it.
And so I think those are the kind of things that they need to be looking out because I think what matters more is what's gonna happen in the future than what happened in the past.
So if you aren't we looking at Justin at the president's record because he's had three years to turn the economy around and what that -- proposes he would -- Your reaction to these two guys duking it out on the weekend.
Hey look as a Republican I'm happy that we're talking about fiscal policy I'm happy we're talking that the economy.
That's the sweet spot for Republican.
His record on the economy he is not going to be able to convince the American people.
That the American economy is booming and that's why you see one of his advisors trying to talk about ancient history about what happened when governor Romney was the governor of Massachusetts I agree with Kirsten.
It's much more important to be talking about.
What's gonna happen in the future what we're gonna do to reduce the debt and what -- to do to get the economy growing at a rate that will create jobs or not leave fourteen million Americans without work.
-- another piece of and Sunday action.
That has caught a lot of attention this morning in Cory Booker who is the very well -- and rising star in the Democratic Party he's the mayor of Newark, New Jersey.
He came out and says something that I think made a lot of Obama supporters and probably some bumps in the White House -- What do you just.
And here's what it -- take a look.
I'm not about to sit here and indict private equity it's -- believes this is -- we're getting to a ridiculous point in America.
It's -- -- that I know I live in the state where pension funds unions and other people investing in companies like being capital if you look at the totality of Bain -- record.
Hitting it it you've got a lot to support.
Businesses to grow businesses and this to be I'm I'm very uncomfortable it's kinda stuff is nauseating to -- on both sides it's nauseating to the American public.
Enough is enough stop attacking private equity stop attacking Jeremiah Wright this stuff has got to stop.
Is very -- -- act here's him because it Cory Booker has a record with.
Very good relationship with working with corporations and investors in -- to get private investment going in his.
His say he wants to clearly point out that he does not agree with the president.
On this and won't play that will play it would happen after that next but what about that initial -- and.
Well I think -- -- you know this is part of classic Corey barker -- you know it tends to be a very fair person and I think he was being very fair in this situation.
But he has -- -- sense come out really clarified that he still completely supports the president -- this was not him saying that.
He doesn't support the president it was just him taking.
You when -- -- -- that is that you know it it speaks final language.
You know supporting industry in this country he he -- let's be ridiculous you can't attack private equity it's responsible for so much investment in this country.
But if -- some points out and so we'll play it now.
He shortly after that you know he -- got a call from somebody in the campaign because that prompted this rebuttal on you to let's watch -- He's talked about himself as a job creator and therefore.
It is reasonable.
And in fact I encourage it put up Obama campaign to examine that record.
And to discuss it I have no problem with that.
What about that test and look I say -- Obama campaign should free Cory Booker version wind it was Cory Booker unplugged.
That's the rising star Cory Booker the YouTube video that up obviously it appears I'm sure lots of communications the Obama campaign.
Was the Obama campaign under wraps Cory Booker and I think he he's at risk of diminishing his own political brand if he doesn't stick to what he said the first time on Meet the Press when he said that if you look at the totality of Bain capital's record that's governor Mitt Romney's record they supported jobs and they create jobs and this is one of the democrats' rising stars in this is one of president Obama's biggest backers saying that he believes that Bain capital's record and its totality.
Supported jobs and grow jobs and that's what had -- Obama campaign and a tailspin yesterday.
Trying to have walked back his words but I say free Cory Booker let the real Cory Booker speak.
Unplug is -- it was fascinating.
Thank you so much to both of you attaches and -- -- -- and -- -- thanks you --
