We're gonna begin I think.

With two holes on the presidential race from the past week the New York Times poll we're gonna put up on the screen.

Which shows the president trailing governor Romney 4640 straight.

That was -- New York Times which people think has a liberal bias sometimes.

Back then we go to the Fox News poll last week.

A reversal where Obama is ahead of Obama ahead -- a Romney by seven points 4639.

Again we ought to go over this why is there such a disparity in polls at this point.

Three or four things job first.

-- as we began to say -- to -- and I think we'll have more time to get into today.

There is an angry electorate out there meaning that they're not really tied particularly strongly to either candidate.

Second.

You have both candidates who were not particularly well liked they're not.

Getting ratings.

Really much over or.

At 50%.

And third and I think probably as important and I don't pass on to say about this as well.

The candidates are not talking about the issues facing the country in the -- -- ordinary voters want to hear them talk about hence the numbers drop around.

Jump around I think given Gallup and Rasmussen both -- in the race effectively within a point either way this is a tight race.

But more important than being -- is the fact.

The people are just plain angry at him well I think it's that you don't we have an election and electric to stop being spoken -- -- -- but saw a little later about America like but.

I don't think the issues is Doug said they care about their frustration with the government politics.

Are not are are not being are are not being addressed I think the other thing is is that they feel.

That these candidates these part did -- talking ridiculous all the new is attacking each other lot of people aren't engaged yet remember.

But I think this is basically the horse -- what is happening which -- and we're.

Is over the next couple months.

The structure this race is gonna take effect and we see both campaigns -- that out attempting.

To define what the election races Romney really made -- change this week we're gonna talk about it.

And and on that point -- your theory that you started with a little bit -- our show last week was.

It's now that.

Third we can -- right.

The Olympics begins right after the fourth of July the month of July is going to be Olympics we all while we're watching politics can take a backseat -- August vacation month.

So that now and it may -- the month of June is that.

This I would civil -- -- July of this is a period in presidential elections when that definition tends to start be hardening.

And that is how this is defined -- is going to be as we've said before referendum Obama or is going to be about Romney or is she going to be.

Part just partisan support all of us up in the air right now and then I think it -- so in these next six weeks.

They're both trying to do a couple of things that we know Obama is trying to define.

Romney badly.

And we just heard this morning that he has increased his ad -- for instance in the state of Ohio we're gonna show a little bit of the new pain and and we're gonna talk about that let's run that if we can players.

While we're waiting for -- that is the ad that you heard about seen on the news here -- I don't really feel in my heart people need to know what Mitt Romney did to bring -- and 1994.

-- The average person Marion area would say that they were middle income to lower income felt we had good jobs that you could raise a family on.

The plant -- our -- try to over here.

That's just a little bit of the newer version of this ad now a week ago we -- on our show once Monday morning.

And we discussed this ad was running turns out it didn't really run they bought one spot you each of the five key battleground states they're running -- them.

They ran out once they leaked it out of course to the media which ran it is a news story all week long.

Now they're buying time they've announced they're doing if they get by.

Tell me you -- have -- that they focus group this hadn't discovered that it goes word and that's why they're.

On its three things spurs they discovered it does work.

Second they've obviously resolve their internal debate in the campaign to put some money behind it because they see the same numbers that -- And I see which is the president.

Coming down not so much -- -- going up and they'd feel as pat was saying they've got to define Romney.

The third thing is they know they're gonna take a hit the press for doing the hit they took these B Cory Booker yes it's all about the -- and and and I -- -- asked pat to comment on that.

But they've decided it's worth.

The risk.

A doubling down on that because if they take it off the table they're giving up a -- -- -- -- I'm not even -- works and it doesn't -- -- they are so deep into it.

Good if they were to take it down to go to your point go big with the press would go crazy they're already getting stories of Chicago what happened -- the would be revealed.

Nip -- in team of 2008.

They've had a bad month they've screwed up some things you don't they had Ariana Huffington attacked their -- Of all people there added called despicable on bin Laden they had mayor Booker in the yesterday the mayor of -- work on the -- The Sunday shows yesterday attacking in different and still holding his position relatively.

That this -- is unfair and wrong.

This they don't need.

But the worst thing is they've got to continue to persist in trying to do -- -- in dividing Romney they've decided as far as I can see to have a vision.

They're they're gonna from the Carter campaign 1980 emblem -- -- -- -- -- division let's now go to what Romney's trying to do Romney's people have been watching campaign insiders because we have been saying.

For a couple of months that are big criticism of the governor's campaign is it was all negative he needs to have a positive vision of what he would do.

He never has had any such vision until little.

Ten -- in this ad was run the new ad that is running in some swing states.

What -- -- Romney yeah.

Do you want -- president Romney immediately -- the Keystone Pipeline was creating thousands of jobs that Obama -- President on the introduces -- tax.

-- job creators.

President on the yeah.

-- After this message.

Okay so let's go over our thoughts on this let me go first please I'd like the -- like something new to talk about I like the idea here's what I will do as president.

This is why we.

What when you hire someone for a job you ask them why why are you what are you gonna do at least the guy said something so.

It's better than what he's been running right.

Here's what -- -- first it does offer some specifics.

And -- them.

He doesn't really get into how is gonna create jobs or lower taxes but it's tough -- thirty seconds to do that.

Who -- we.

I think to talked about yesterday and is worthy of a little discussion thing.

There's no overarching.

Vision like Ronald Reagan had in 1980 or pat Jimmy Carter had 76 -- -- McGovern in 72 there was no.

Clear sense of a theme philosophy now they would argue I'm sure.

Well look we need to give specifics this is what we're going to do created contrast.

With the president.

And I think that probably explains what's going on.

There not only that look let me just -- only had the -- you have to mount last week talked about the history.

Campaigning with the debt clock behind him which I think is effective with swing voters.

Raising the fact the president seems to be trusted in almost any other subject the world than the fact the country's going bankrupt.

Com and I think that it is.

They are -- trying to do something I think this is a positive step I think to dog's point is correct.

This is not a vision.

This is the plan but this is a lot better than they were doing you know what has it has a sense of what -- -- would you say -- what I would do.

I'm going to be president went on day one I'm gonna do wish more of it I -- -- Aurora but he's he's and I thought that do and this is it as long as you Obama campaign and I sort of citizen moment.

The running campaigning could on the theme it could be worse front.

We just tried but it will be worse whatever this is hello this is effective antidote to that right.

Right now speaking of that let -- run the next thing which is the Romney last week governor Romney.

Speaking.

In Iowa first and then in New Hampshire.

We have a video of him talking about the national debt and I want you to notice the backdrop.

For the governor as he speaks we're ready to run that.

Said he would cut the debt -- He became president.

It's steady double that are right he doubled it and you see that clock back there.

Casually put that clock up we've made that -- -- and the New Hampshire.

Primary days and it began with fourteen back then now -- 5685.

It'll be.

Sixteen coming soon.

It's.

It is not at all what he promised.

-- and that to me I'm glad we use that cut from that -- if you could see the debt clock.

And that that clock is now the backdrop for many of his speeches it's good it ties in this issue of the -- we were you all the word -- -- If you would explain it shows -- there's going to sixteen for -- should say any interest payment on this.

Is the second largest item in the federal -- -- by the way that's.

Very good point John because I've read yesterday who.

Deposition.

Will be greater than the defense budget interest payment on the debt will be greater than it was in a few years in the entire defense spending and -- -- just on this point.

We all talk about.

My parties as we got to cut the government cut government spending 80%.

Of the federal budget -- -- things.

Interest on the national -- the Defense Department so -- -- security Medicare.

That's 80%.

So you wanna do these massive cuts you gotta go into all could none -- that I think.

So you gotta go win.

Don't we do have to do entitlement reform.

Just wondered before and there's a lot of ways that you talk about there is waste in defense witness sugars waste a whole -- government won't cut a dollar in defense.

And individual Daryn that Democrats won't cut a dollar in the waste going on in the rest of the gonna lose and they lose all credit on the edges of somebody would let him run the country -- somebody would get up and say you know what.

Both got to -- -- the government's got to be efficient and by the way.

On the interest you know -- as a Democrat is someone here.

I'd like to take the numbers on the intrusions into people you realize what this means we're not paying for we can't buy that have may have lessened than before -- -- and -- I have -- comment from our good friend Charles streets I would like to know what that means.

By how things will change more by say two months to election what does he mean what I mean by that is I think the structure of the race are people gonna vote on the referendum on Obama.

We don't vote on the economy of the notable moment choice between the candidates.

Desperately these campaigns in the -- surrogate this super pac.

Have got -- does help decide because once that foundation to set the election will pretty much play itself out.
