For our movie guest Paul -- garabedian president of the box office division of Hollywood dot com welcome Paul.

Hey Ashley -- -- -- commend -- thank you so as I said before it's hard to do this summer movie preview without talking about the avengers.

Which kicked off this summer early and -- -- to -- about where it stands right now.

What records it's broke in half and this past weekend.

Wait I don't know if we have time to list all the records -- -- -- -- incredible opening weekend was the biggest ever 207 point four million dollars.

Fastest film to reach a hundred billion -- 1520250.

Basically every milestone.

That you get hit this things like it.

The setting land speed records for box office it's well over a billion dollars it hit a billion dollars after just.

Nineteen days and release -- it over 450 million dollars now.

In North America it's been number one for three weeks in a row.

And I think it's gonna take maybe men in black three in 3-D.

This Friday to knock the avengers operates purge but it's already.

Just obliterated.

Pretty much every box office record.

Cats so we all seen how did battleship do obviously like you said it was face saying and then competition.

How did you.

Yeah well about 25 million dollars it was already up to 220 million internationally.

It it opened in mid.

Mid April excuse me and so it played for about a month.

Before it opened in North America so they got about 220 million banked.

But this is a movie that had a big budget.

Over 200 million dollars.

And I know that universal was hoping for more out of this movie but none of the newcomers really did that well I mean the dictator.

Did a little bit better than expected what to expect when -- expecting we -- hoping for more on that one.

But usually what happens is with a big movie like the avengers.

You know like a rising tide raises all ships it's not happening.

It seems like the avengers is taking everybody's lunch right now and finally in its fourth weekend coming up I think it'll get unseeded.

We'll see men in black three do very well.

And then we have all those other big movies on the way.

Sure are -- -- mentioned men in black 31 and we just go there we have a quick clip let's talk about what you've heard about this film right afterwards.

-- There's -- city miles -- next.

What have you heard of this time -- playing big -- then I mean and here a lot of films a summer with a big budget we talk about that later but.

What what are you expecting from men in black.

-- -- I think that this one will do well because it well it's been ten years since -- and black to which I really didn't think was that great of a movie men in black the first level is quite different and exciting.

I think with the whole time shifting time travel thing.

And having Josh roll in and Tommy Lee Jones who are actually a little trivia for you both in No Country for Old Men here they are in men in black three.

I think this -- be as a perfect way to start your Memorial Day weekend I think it's going to be a big movie.

We need another big hit because you can't just have one movie.

Meaning the avengers doing well and you know dark shadows we are hoping for more not -- as well so none of the newcomers have been able to really.

Do without much in the face of the avengers that onslaught of the avengers so but I think that it -- -- be the one that kind of take over now and do well an elitist and in June and July and August of.

And as we head into those months we have some more super heroes we have the Dark Knight rises.

Okay now this yeah highly anticipated film what do you expect it doesn't council July 20.

That's right and that's sort of a magic date for Warner Bros.

they've had about him movies in that time slide.

Batman begins and the first Dark -- back in 08.

158 million dollar opening on the Dark -- huge debut.

This war and not in three because Christopher Nolan doesn't really partake in 3-D he loves IMAX so -- get a boost from that I'm expecting big things this may be the most.

Anticipated movie of the summer next to the avengers I I don't know anyone who isn't totally psyched to see the Dark Knight rises -- the end of this trilogy of films.

That -- -- Nolan has put together it looks.

Really good to me.

Now -- fans are also excited to see the new Spider-Man.

Tell me a little right now -- amazing Spider-Man and that's out July 3.

That's right so the fourth of July is always a big time frame at the box office and the amazing Spider-Man some people are saying.

Is it too soon for reboot.

But with Andrew Garfield in the -- he was -- of course the social network terrific young actor and sort of and Emma Stone his red hot you know right now.

I think it'll do well I think people are wondering what will be like you know Tobey Maguire.

Was Spiderman in those they're highly successful movies Spiderman won two in three and in fact the first -- Ten years ago almost the day.

That the avengers open was the first hundred million dollar.

Opening weekend and -- ten years later the avengers first 200 million plus opening weekend so we're coming full circle with this one.

So we'll -- and I know we're limited on time so in the franchise's category pick one of these talk about and I'm gonna shout outs and release states that the people watching can write them down.

We have the expendable CU that's August 17 the -- legacy August 3.

Total recall I'm considering that part of the franchise August 3.

And GI Joseph of those any I'm not about.

Well the born movie -- -- Bourne legacy Jeremy Renner was in Mission Impossible for like showed that this is a guy who can do action.

He went toe to tell what Tom Cruise improved he is just as powerful onscreen while I don't know if anyone's -- powerful Tom Cruise on screen especially in MI -- -- Jeremy Renner.

A worthy successor to the Bourne legacy if you will he plays a different character.

He's not Jason -- it's a different character but I think if anyone can fill those shoes.

It would be Jeremy Renner -- actually really excited about now.

Okay and franchise fun for the kids that's I -- snacks category we have ice -- continental -- three.

And there's actually new animated an animated film brain and -- -- which of those you want to highlight.

Well I mean there's so many -- she is from the brave I think is at Pixar is you know it's -- it's their latest attempt to really -- people at the box office cars.

Two was not the massive hit.

On the magnitude of like a Toy Story 3 so they've got a lot to prove here but they've got that female character with archery -- or nine.

And it's very Hunger Games ask.

And I think that one of you very very well when you have a Pixar movie in the summer.

You really can't go wrong but ice -- 22 billion dollars for their franchise already worldwide so that's one to look out for.

Okay and in what I call the miscellaneous ones of note from -- BS I want to answer the question is this related to it alien.

Kind of -- well couldn't it.

I that's the reason I really want to see yet although the studios are really pushing that side of it they're pushing more than its.

Ridley Scott back in the genre that he is so well defined.

With movies like blade runner and of course alien their original.

Alien that he directed that came -- back in 1979.

Considered an all time scifi is classic.

-- I just saw recently.

In high Def.

Someone in that cable channels and it just looked amazing.

But this is I think it worthy successor to that and for -- -- he is for me is -- the films I'm most excited to see I think it's going to be dark.

-- you know in space no one can hear you scream that was the tagline anti alien I think this is going to be more of that and I'm looking forward to it.

And pay and -- -- out of time but there's two very miscellaneous -- Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter 388 and rock and gases so let's -- about.

A rock of ages.

Will both are very intriguing I love the fact that we're having a -- musical in the summer -- -- Shactman.

Who directed hairspray directing this Tom Cruise looks great movie I love -- he's really mixing it up -- comedy.

What with tropic thunder.

And then MI four and now rock of ages I mean he's like pushing fifty and he's still like just killing it right now -- Tom Cruise.

Really somebody who look out for that's -- always yes this is a little bit different for him this is a musical.

It's got comedy elements a great ensemble cast rock of -- really looking forward -- -- on -- Abraham Lincoln.

Yeah -- like other they're making super heroes out of actual historical characters.

Like with the raven with Edgar -- hello John Cusack playing you know Edgar Allan Poe as sort of the hero of the peace a superhero.

I like the idea we've got to minus some new ways to bring literary works to the four or historical.

Characters.

To the forefront so that's how they're doing it I like that idea.
