Now -- leading Republican senator challenging the knife the ninth Circuit Court over -- planned conference in Hawaii.

On the taxpayer's dime.

In a letter released this week standard -- Grassley says the trip includes recreational activities not related to any official business -- -- -- some of those recreational activities.

Some these folks who led.

But I have to pay for but we still play pay for their flight in their stay.

In Hawaii for this conference senator Grassley the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee he joins us live -- senator we've reached out to the ninth circuit hoping to get a little bit more.

Information about.

How and why they chose an Alley besides the obvious have you have you received any -- information as to why this particular site was chosen.

I have not and we've asked several other questions we've looked at their agenda.

It doesn't it looks like the agenda is at least half recreation.

And -- some other conferences that there haven't heard seminars -- -- -- like how to use an iPad is an example.

Doesn't seem to me like a very heavy conference and I'm not raising objections to having conference's.

I'm raising -- objections to having them in.

A very expensive places more so I think we've got to get into this new environment -- corporate America is where you're doing more through social networking and and the use the latest.

Teleconferencing methods of having.

Conference's so you don't have to spend so much money.

You know I think -- -- I if I could say that brings -- have been there -- viewers -- viewers know where would you like to see this conference.

To be held -- it was -- -- we got some pretty colorful responses on that but just say he would like to see that conference being held.

I at a site where it it's not a burden to the tax Payer.

-- that site even exist if there's a conference and it's a government conference are we always gonna just be footing the bill for.

The answer is yes if you're on government travel and it's within the law you've got to -- be reimbursed for that.

I would say in the ninth circuit -- place to have it would probably be in Montana.

Some place -- be a lot cheaper than having -- Molly if there was each circuit of the United States.

That's a circuit that my state of Iowa's and I'd say come to the morning.

I can show you where I stay at the days -- for 56 dollars.

So you're you know there's cheaper places to have it for sure but here's issue we've got this GSA conference there wasted 828.

Thousand dollars that's bringing a lot of interest from the grassroots about it we've got judge Gibbons she chairwoman of the budget conference for a good.

Our budget committee for the judicial conference saying we're already laying people off because we've got our budget cut by 5%.

So we gotta be careful how we spend -- money and it and it doesn't look like.

They're following that admonition very well.

Yes senator eight you've been in office for more than thirty years now and you've been -- -- front row of seats are really an interesting time in history and I'm wondering just your opinion on -- where you think.

It went wrong.

To where you were having conferences like the GSA are having in Las Vegas or potentially this one and now he has this just always then.

What government has been about that meeting that this -- just been happening over -- -- several decades and we're paying more attention if or did something switch was there sending at -- at a certain time.

Where this went into an area as you say is -- talent depth to -- the country yes.

You know I'm not sure I gonna answer the history of that but one thing that brings a major concern -- is three or four years of Korean and half dollar deficits.

And the -- -- a burden were leaning toward children grandchildren.

That's a concern coming from the grassroots of America and people understand -- sending.

Are.

And sending judges the -- spending a million dollars doing it.

Could it's a lot more understandable.

To the taxpayers and maybe spending.

Three or four billion dollars someplace else.

You have how do we fix it is the question look for to have you back as we gather more information on this situation others in.

-- Skype sounds pretty good right now right it's free after we get off Skype together -- traveling all.

Well for instance I'll be Skyping with a a high school in the northwest Iowa later on this afternoon -- got so we're putting it to work senator Grassley thanks to Heidi again thank you so much for the time today.

Thank you.
