A dramatic rescue in Washington state of a thirteen year old boy trapped on the edge of a waterfall for more than eight hours.

Newly released video showing the team desperately clinging to the side of a rock.

Just one false move standing between him and a 270.

-- -- it really is amazing -- thirteen year old William Hickman was waiting in the water upstream he slipped she fell and he was actually pushed by the white water over a ten foot waterfall then he starts going down the rapids and he's getting near that 270 foot waterfall you're talking about 270 feet is a hundred feet higher than Niagara Falls.

Take a look at -- he managed to grab out of this -- look at the rescue were the boy is right behind him right there and see water at the bottom of the strain.

That is over the falls 270 feet he held -- of that -- for eight and a half hours 5 o'clock at night till 1:30 in the morning.

They tried to repel down from the top of the -- to get him but they couldn't.

So they had to put this latter across the water and security as best as they could and then try and tie the boy up to all these lines to keep him secure again eight and a half hours.

They finally lifted him.

Here's now one of the rescue team.

He's Smart kid he asked me if I have plan.

And I said.

Yes we have a plan and we're working on it.

And a couple seconds later he says is your plan gonna work.

While the plan was to hook him up those harnesses and get him secure and get that latter secure the problem was the water.

The gay and rising as they put that latter across they had to move faster than they anticipated they finally pulled him off onto a different safer area.

And they can't they're overnight.

The boy tried to keep his cool you'll hear but he knew he was in trouble listen.

Trying the -- wouldn't call them so they can think you know fun and safe.

I save all this rocket and yes by the -- -- is -- fantastic view things thankful for them.

If I had fallen down I would have gone down the other -- Let.

-- he was right there are 270 feet down the last time somebody went over that waterfall.

Was last summer.

They found his body two days later this was an amazing rescue and really tricky.

For the first response I don't.
