Here right now and Mitt Romney who wants to be president joins us live report you -- -- -- -- Well everybody this morning is talking about your conversation he had with Mark Halperin yesterday from time magazine where you said that if elected president by the end of your first term.
You would get unemployment -- 6%.
We've all cut across the country this morning governor's had 6% that sounds pretty good so they want to know how are you gonna do that.
Whether a number of things you start off by saying let's stop -- that's hurting small business from creating jobs and that's obamacare get rid of that.
Number two have an energy strategy that takes advantage of our natural gas and oil and coal as well as ever Noble's.
Those low cost energy fuels will ultimately mean jobs come back here even manufacturing jobs that left here.
And finally get a handle on the deficit so that people understand that if they invest in America.
Their dollars are gonna be worth something in the future those are three big ideas that we have to move on right away if we want to get this economy going again.
So yesterday President Obama equated you with president George W.
Bush and -- basically why would America want to go back.
To the same policies that he believes failed listen to this.
You know might act 45 years in private sector gives me.
-- special understanding of our economy works.
Well if that's true was even -- in the same bad ideas that run our economy to the brink of collapse.
Most good business people I know it's something -- the work.
Do something different so he -- the other thing.
-- -- or is hoping you don't remember what happened last time we tried in his life.
So is it game on governor Romney because it appears that the president is doubling down.
On these economic attacks against -- specifically on your career at Bain Capital.
Well actually it's kind of funny listening to him because I just described three the things I would do.
They have nothing to do with what's done in the past getting rid of Obama -- that's this president's problem this is a brand new problem.
Getting an energy policy that takes advantage of our energy resources.
To bring jobs back to America.
That's new that's not a big old and finally getting -- handle on the deficit.
You know he's -- -- to talk about that when he was candidate Obama.
Now that he's President Obama and he's doubled the deficit.
He doesn't want to talk about the fact that this kind of deficit this had a spending is scaring away.
Job creators so -- mentioned more his National Labor Relations Board -- and union -- effort he's put in place there.
Has made it much more difficult for small businesses to decide to hire and -- hope these are new problems we have that have been created by President Obama.
They -- new solutions we're gonna get this economy going again.
And the way which regards which addressed to bring -- thank -- they'd just put it they just put a report out about their record the Bain Capital guys did.
They noted they've made about 350.
Investments that since the beginning of the firm.
And of those investments 80% of them grew their revenues so I'm.
I'm pretty confident that the overall record of the enterprise I helped begin.
Is one that's pretty solid -- five.
Five supporters -- or five prominent Democrats are very come forward and said they're not comfortable with the Bain attacks in the same speech yesterday governor.
He talked about a woman in Iowa who came up to you and asked about and talked about a financial struggles and you told terror.
Productivity equals income.
And he interpreted that as saying you're not working hard enough and -- -- the attached you are what's your reaction to that definition of your interaction.
Hopewell I'm afraid he doesn't understand what the -- productivity -- Gosh this is this is quite a revelation -- you have the president of the United States that doesn't understand the productivity.
He is a measure of output per person in the nation as a whole.
And is that is driven by such things as the level of automation in the society the the extent to which government had courage his output -- production it's not that just a measure of how hard people are working as a matter of fact.
The American people are harder working than folks in France in Europe -- liked it even Germany.
Even now we -- of Japan is being hardworking Americans work longer hours into the Japanese word we're hard working people.
I'm -- she doesn't understand what productivity Maine's governor would you go as far as Rush Limbaugh did yesterday and saying that this is the first president in modern time.
Who's gonna run a campaign against capitalism.
Well it certainly sounds like that's what he's doing that there's no question but that he's attacking capitalism at it -- part I think because he doesn't understand.
How the a free economy works.
-- he's never had a job in the free economy there has as Vice President Biden.
They spent their lives as it either community organizers -- -- Members of the political class and frankly the American people understand that that free economy and free enterprise is tough it's hard work.
And when they hear that -- they businesslike Bain Capital was successful 80% of the time.
And 5% of its investments only went bankrupt they say you know that's pretty good record -- -- -- the president wants to do is talk about the failures why he's misrepresenting.
The nature of free -- -- -- Also yesterday you had -- speech general I believe Washington DC where you took shot -- Unions and teachers' unions holding back America's students and in fact you came out and you really were pushing more vouchers and and things like that.
What's the number one problem with the education system in the country right now.
Well we know what the solutions are to get education to work because we're we're right now we have had 50% of the kids and our fifty largest cities wanted to graduate from high school.
And we have terrific teachers we have wonderful parents that are invested in the -- -- concerned about their kids.
But but we have a teachers you know and that too often.
Stands in the way of the kind of reforms that would make education work what we know Francis in Washington DC that school choice there.
Helped with that but the measurably.
With young people and to improve their quality of learning and their their skills and get the president shut down the program.
You to -- talks like he's for the underprivileged.
But when it comes to the money that comes from the teachers yet union.
He's putting that -- you know the campaign cash ahead of that the needs of our kids that and we have to recognize it's time to put our kids first.
To get education on track.
By by giving people greater choice in schools.
By making sure we reward the very best teachers with great careers and rising incomes.
We we know what to do to make our schools better what more by the way is digital learning it's making an impact that teachers unions fight it tooth and -- What we got to put the units behind -- the kids first and don't wrote.
Talk about it was anything you call that the civil rights issue of this generation.
That's a headline.
Let me ask you this senator Marco Rubio from Florida he's coming up on our show in just about nine minutes from now.
He's been touted potentially is a vice presidential pick for you any message that you'd like us to give to the senate.
You know I just keep on fighting out there I I keep reading his speeches and -- and going out to rallies that Republicans across the country recognize what's at stake in this election.
That this is really a campaign about the future of America we're gonna to ask ourselves who we really -- of people are we gonna become like Europe.
With a government dominated society or we get -- remain a free enterprise free people society with opportunity.
And he's out there given that message more power to him Parsons says he thinks the senator's gonna be your pick is that that's been getting.
No I do nothing here -- that we could have a -- I needed a good to have a private conversation.
I've got nothing for you of that product sorry guys we'll keep this -- -- very.
Former governor of the great state of Massachusetts Mitt Romney think you're much for joining us today from philadelphians.
Thank you mr.
