Not -- feeling the pressure from some critics are not the ones you may think these critics.

Come from his own party.

And they say they are watching him joining us now is the author of conservatives survival in the Romney era senior editorial writer for the Washington examiner Philip Klein nice to see this morning field.

Good morning and it makes it interesting points about this because you say -- we need to keep the pressure on Mitt Romney there were a lot of critics of him during the primary but they seem to have gone quiet.

Are you concerned about that look that that thing is that obviously.

You know and conservatives are gonna end up voting for Mitt Romney over the much worse President Obama.

But there's a danger in getting into a sort of team mentality where you're afraid of criticizing someone because they're Republican.

And the -- -- and I use is an example is President Bush.

When President Bush was it was in charge and he had Republican control of congress.

Spending soared through the roof by 60%.

Over the time of his presidency -- yet a lot of conservatives during that time stood silent.

And were reluctant to criticize him.

Because they were afraid that it would help the Democrats and any kidney criticized it later after he left office -- we don't wanna you know we got a little out of control spending back then but they didn't criticize it at the time eggs exactly right now it's pretty popular to sort of say.

We're gonna produce -- you know.

Bush was terrible on spending he let spending go out of control but at the time.

It wasn't very popular -- And I think that it's important to keep the pressure on him not only because you want conservatism.

To be defined as a separate thing than just whoever happens to be in charge of the Republican Party -- that so it sounds like you learned the lesson during that time during the bush timing wish you'd spoken -- more what message do you wanna send Mitt Romney now.

Well I think that it's important to sort of that we have a tremendous spending problem that aids is you know we have a massive problem with the welfare state.

And I think that we have to reform our health care system so that we kid.

Drive down medical costs that's even if obamacare gets overturned we -- those problems.

And we have to reform the tax code -- do a lot of things that are urgent to do.

And he made a lot of promises during the Republican primary.

-- what we have to make sure is that when he's feeling sort of safe with conservative support but he doesn't just sort of drifted it to the right critics.

-- critics recently against Mitt Romney have said that you know his poll numbers of ticked up a little bit but they say they want some actual.

They want some specifics on how is he he's going to cut and he hasn't laid out specifics you also say that we need to criticizing because you -- one point.

He said he was severely conservative.

Yet at one point he claimed to be progressive.

Yeah and that at one point I talk about on the book which you can get on Amazon for 299 and download -- can -- read on your desktop and it's nice trip is a yeah -- very -- But you know what one of things that points the book is that I think that a lot of pundits have sort of been racking their brains trying to analyze Mitt Romney -- Was he authentic when he was a moderate -- Massachusetts.

Was he offense -- was he really conservative in Massachusetts and not honest of people Massachusetts.

Is he not being honest now it is when he's saying he's a conservative but I think that's a total wrong discussion.

I think it's pretty clear that the one thing that we know that's consistent about Mitt Romney is he's a businessman.

And when your business man there's no scruples about sort of changing your strategy.

If the market conditions change and I think that that's what we have the Mitt Romney is that when he was running in Massachusetts.

He had a -- -- more liberal audience whereas he's running for Republican Party he had some markets them so that's why I say you have to keep the pressure on him.

From the right so we feels like he still has the market to conservative -- Philip Klein you're the author of conservatives are mile and a lot in the air act to nine tonight on Amazon -- thanks thanks so thank.
