Right now the economy is the greatest concern for President Obama in making his reelection bid.

He's saying the deficit is not his fault and defending his record on -- spending -- The -- the -- are serious problems and it is true that the depth of the recession and took it back.

Lot more -- we're looking for unemployment insurance.

Lot fewer folks we're paying taxes because they weren't making money.

So that added -- that that.

Our efforts to prevent it from becoming a depression help in the auto industry.

Making sure that not as many teachers were laid off all those things added to that that.

But what my opponent and tiger was that federal spending since I -- at all.

Have -- at the slowest pace.

Of any president.

It almost sixty years.

Okay.

So let's talk about those claims -- -- you -- he is the editorial page editor of the Wall Street Journal so what the president would have us believe is that he's done a great job I guess of managing our federal spending -- The only thing that I think he can agree with the -- -- he did inherit a recession that did increase spending there's no question about that the problem he has is that the recession ended.

Officially in the middle of 2009.

And yet spending has continued to increase at the same kind of pace.

-- since World War II.

The share the best -- spending is how much since the whole economy does the federal government -- what percentage does it take.

It is never been above 24%.

Except.

For the last four years since World War II.

We've had 700 billion dollar increase in spending an average about five point 2% a year according to.

Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post to look at the claims the president -- compared him to the reality.

So this is I know he wants to say it's not his fault.

But I don't think the facts -- -- well let me he is saying that essentially saying yeah I know you're all concerned about the level of spending that we're we're doing out there in this huge deficit but it's really George Bush is in the last year in the last year perhaps that the Republican House came man.

They have actually tried to reduce the -- suspend the president has resisted them at every.

Step of the way.

So now to claim I -- that guy who controlled spending is.

A very difficult cling to me he.

He could also I suppose make the point that I'm the guy who submitted a budget that got zero votes in the United States well that that that happens in the Democrats don't want to be associated with -- but I mean if you just look at the spending facts and the record.

He is it -- hit -- that the deficits and spending are not where I would want to have this debate if I were here.

-- I would want to debate other things I'm sure you'll be talking about it this weekend on your program.

Paul thank you you can catch him hosting The Journal Editorial Report tomorrow at 2 PM eastern it runs right here on.
