When soldiers come home after the war the wounds they have to be both physical and emotional.

Nineteen year old World War II veteran urban stop Roth has come up with a gray weights you would help with what can be very tough recovery process he found it.

That's helping he rose with places therapy dogs and service dogs with wounded soldiers.

Early joins us now live from Cleveland and I see -- -- cash with -- as well we'll be with you just a second also here in DC with that sergeant Adam or rescue.

Got his -- -- through the program.

He's completed tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan remains on active duty welcome it's great to have all of you -- with us today anonymous mr.

summer I wanna start with you I'm -- why you started this organization and and how -- -- Well.

I was a national service officer for ex prisoners of war.

The Palm Beach hospital in Florida.

And in 06.

I was called to a meeting by the director and she advised me at that point eight.

That we have a blind rehab program there we -- getting the veterans.

But there is no funds for them the government had no funds for these young kids of my call them kids these wonderful heroes veterans coming back.

We're so badly damage being blind or or losing arms legs.

And she told me would -- be interested in getting started and helping a program to raise funds.

And I did I immediately did it when I found out there was -- -- other funds and made up my mind to do something.

And -- started off by going to former XP OWs and within three months we have raised a 100000 dollars.

And I thought this is something that people truly understand.

And we're going to do something about it.

And so we created the 501 C.

Foundation.

Called vets helping heroes.

Well you've had -- -- from that start.

I'm sorry if you think you put into -- From that from that point on.

I was fortunate enough to get some very very.

Good.

This gentleman from the military I have a major general lieutenant colonel a captain from the navy.

And we all got together and we worked very hard.

And up to this point now we have raised over three million dollars.

And like Adam who you're gonna be talking to very shortly.

He is one of 65.

Dogs that we have placed -- these young heroes that are coming back who need is so much help.

And the reason I did it is because.

In World War II I was -- the air corps I flew out of England I flew 35 combat missions we shot down on my 35 mission.

Became a Prisoner of War but after all that I came back home.

The government took care of me I was able to go to college I was able to have a family I was able to continue in my life and so.

That is the reason that I started this and that is -- reason why I'm doing it.

Because I wanna be sure but each one of these young heroes coming back home has a great chance and for for life.

And the one way we can do it for them is getting them a train service dog.

And you mentioned Sargent Forrest who is here with us with at lists and now we wanna hear from you about what it's meant to have -- in your life.

It's meant the world.

I mean.

Since since I got out this just -- month completely different person.

He's he's been a Dotson.

-- it without him in.

Boasts I would be isolated on which is what I did prior to getting him.

But since I have and you know it's not fair to keep -- -- at home all the time so I had taken mountain.

And of course everybody -- resident Tim thinks he's he's the greatest so.

It makes you feel good.

That I have him and that.

He.

Just some of the stuff he does I just can't.

I -- it would it would take at least a three -- show before -- cover everything but he's been he's he's -- the world to me he really really years.

I know that he's been huge helping -- like he is such a good dog and so -- training and there's extensive training that they all go through for the can be assigned to become a buddy with you and help.
