And and hello again on this Memorial Day weekend from Fox News in Washington.
As we remember those who have given their lives defending our country we continue to face foreign policy challenges.
Here to tackle all that is Senator John McCain and senator welcome back to FOX News Sunday well thanks for having him -- on Memorial Day.
There has -- as you well now another massacre in Syria government forces killed more than -- Children.
You can see some of the body to stacked up like cord wood here.
In the village of hula and the White House is apparently decided to start vetting some of the rebels to see whether or not -- Islamic radicals and then.
Perhaps to let other.
Arab countries arm them is that enough.
Of course not and it's only about a year too late.
You know this is a shameful episode in American history began back in 2009.
When we refused.
When the -- United States refused to speak up on behalf of the demonstrators.
In the streets of Tehran it's.
Gone from one episode to another here we have over a year and we are now talking about possibly -- some people.
-- nearly 101000 people have died.
This is a brutal regime of incredible proportions.
And by the way if -- side failed.
In the words of general Mattis the head of our Central Command will be the greatest photo ran in the last 25 years because it would cut off them from Hezbollah Syria is served.
Most important client state -- -- but look horrible things are happening in Syria.
This administration has a feckless foreign policy.
Which abandons American leadership I know because I visit -- these people that they are ready to help these people and they are already helping them some.
But it cries out for American leadership American leadership is not there.
Let me follow up there's a story on the front page of the New York Times today that president.
Obama is considering trying to get a -- out diplomatically with the help of the Russians.
How likely do you think that.
It's again.
Here we -- -- later 101000 killed and the main supplier of arms to Bashir aside we're gonna convince.
Them that that this is our hopes now rest on convincing them to help ease out aside comparing it to Yemen -- which there is no comparison.
It is true it's really -- a sad story can end.
What the conclusion you can the only conclusion can draw is that this president wants to kick the can down the road on all these issues until after the election.
Medvedev tell glad I'll be more flexible after.
-- reelected and it's it's really an abdication.
Of everything that America stands for and believe -- And on Memorial Day we should be especially moved by this.
Incredible inaction.
And failure to assert American leadership.
You were saying this before we came on the air that you see a pattern Syria and Afghanistan and Pakistan with the pakistanis.
Thumbing their nose and despite taking this this Doctor Who apparently helped to find bin Laden and sentencing them to -- For 33 years in prison for treason that you see an out pattern here of these other countries.
It should just got this -- anyway so look at -- in its entirety because when you look at one country -- you are puzzled.
This -- all got to do with the foreign policy.
Led by a president who does not believe in American exception list so it began in Iran when we failed to stand up and 2009.
In in Libya we quote lead from behind the war -- much longer because we didn't use.
American air power with the -- clearly we're -- -- the can down the road how many times have we seen North Korea and Iran these different.
And negotiation -- and that have taken place.
In Afghanistan.
Obviously the Taliban believe that we are leaving.
In in Pakistan why would they directly insult America by putting.
A Doctor Who held -- us.
Apprehend -- can take out the most notorious.
Terrorist in the world and they put him in prison for 33 years it's because.
That the pakistanis believe that we are leaving this president if -- ever heard the word victory come through the lips of this present.
Because we're always talking about withdrawal withdrawal would draw.
And of course Iraq is unravelling -- because we didn't leave a residual force there.
And it and they said negotiations with Iran could -- just give you quote.
The -- and actually initially EU foreign policy chief about -- negotiations with Iran quote.
What we have now is some common ground in -- meeting in place where we can take that further forward.
And I'm not -- -- So we continue that's next we're gonna -- in -- they're gonna they're going to need in Moscow.
And meanwhile we are accepting enriched uranium which was -- you said they couldn't do and the Iranians have not been deterred.
Meanwhile the Israelis.
Are watching with great concern -- as there is no change in the progress that.
I had nothing else give content about Iran because as you say it was a round of talks and the only thing they agreed on was another round of talks next month in Moscow.
Meanwhile the Iranians continue to install more centrifuges.
And there -- -- also traces found -- one of the sites that won't more highly enriched uranium and we knew about not 20% to 27%.
Question.
Is it time to give up on diplomacy.
I think that it's time to draw some red lines United States and Israel together.
And say.
As the president the United States has said that it's unacceptable.
For them to acquire nuclear weapons.
And -- drivers rev what do you mean by rest on that stop the enrichment allow the IAEA inspectors in.
And give them a deadline.
At least red lines that if you cross those red lines them.
You and then all options on the table well I get a lot of guys are on the table and we always say now.
And I can't sit here and -- and say I'm actually in favor of military action but there has to be a red line which they cross and then they must face the consequences now.
That action can take a variety of ways besides all out air attacks but the fact is right now.
The Iranians despite the the harm to their economy and there has been significant harm to their economy.
Have not changed -- one iota from the path of thereon let me ask you about another country Egypt which is just held the first round should -- just -- -- that yes that option has to be on the table and the Iranians have to know that.
Otherwise there will be no success.
In these negotiations.
-- cut to eight.
Egypt has just completed its first round of the of -- the first free elections for president ever and it now looks like there's going to be a run off.
Between Mohamed Morrissey of the Muslim Brotherhood.
And on my head shot seek a former general who was Mubarak's last prime minister.
Do we support your feet.
Because -- you would maintain close relations.
With the Israel and the US and because he would block the Muslim Brotherhood from taking control of the entire country and possibly creating an Islamic state.
-- weigh in on this Chris it would help cool number.
We are not there said -- strong anti Americanism.
In Israel in in Egypt for a whole variety of reasons.
But we have to stay out of it if it's a fair democratic process.
We have to recognize a result of that and we have to work with whoever wins and what if it's a Muslim Brotherhood president -- Muslim Brotherhood.
Parliament well.
I think that that that could be.
That could have a serious consequences but I would also point out.
That there are different gradient so the Muslim Brotherhood they -- once the only opposition to Mubarak in Egypt.
Mubarak was going to go and anybody who thinks he wasn't doesn't recognize the hinge of history.
And so.
We have to try to work with that new -- I am very worried mainly about their economy which is they're running had a hard currency there.
They are rich issue facing extreme economic difficulties.
We have to respect that election if it's free and fair and work with whoever is.
Is winner but I would say.
Right now there's some very strong possibility.
Of -- polarization of egyptians sick society no matter who wins.
Let's turn to -- Afghanistan which -- an American soldiers in harm's way we still have.
90000 troops we're gonna get down to about 60000 by the end of the summer and the president has set a timeline with a NATO allies to get all of our forces out in two and a half years.
You and other.
Critics of the president say you shouldn't have this time -- we need more time to help train the Afghan.
Forces so that they can stand up and defend themselves here's my question.
-- is claiming the Taliban they don't seem to need ten years of training to fight.
Michael.
Well for a variety of reasons including insurgency warfare doesn't require the training that it does for.
A regular.
Military that and counterinsurgency.
But.
Most importantly again the Taliban believe that we are leaving the president has announced withdrawal after -- the president has overridden.
The recommendations of his military court Terry commanders who he is recommended they're who he is and that recommended who he is pledging their positions.
And the president has increase the risk every time.
Famous story about the Taliban captives in the American interrogate -- -- you've got the watch is we've got the time that's what the talent on believe today.
There's still that Connie network.
Working with the ISI killing Americans -- -- -- and tell -- there is still out corruption at most levels and also now.
The administration plans on reducing.
The Afghan National Army by some 100000 at a time when they will be in the most severe economic difficulties.
Again.
We -- the entire region.
Believes that the United States of America is withdrawing they have to live in the neighborhood and they are making accommodations.
And that's not good for America.
That's were.
-- let you don't wanna talk briefly about when he twelve politics you have criticized.
President Obama for going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital as quote class warfare.
At its worst.
So we -- our researchers look at what you were saying for years ago about Mitt Romney when you're running against them in -- primary.
And -- sad deaths about Romney he managed companies and he bought any assault and sometimes people lost their jobs.
And your campaign manager said this about -- You've got one by companies who strip away the jobs and you resell them so were you engaging in the same kind of class warfare.
First why don't speak from my campaign manager -- -- from -- but but this is a free enterprise system the only place in the world that I can recall.
Where companies never fail was the old Soviet Union.
This is what investors do in the free enterprise and capitalism system.
When you take five million dollars in a warehouse in the end up with staples I would argue that that's what it's all about and yes free enterprise system can be cruel.
But the problem -- this administration is that small businesses are the ones who have suffered the most the kind that need investors the kind that.
-- don't need -- hundreds of pages thousands of pages of regulations.
That continue to plague them and have them hold back on hiring and investment.
And this is Memorial Day and I thank you for.
And well I was just and I'm bonded to him.
Thirty seconds or whatever time you need as the sun and the grandson of military.
Men and as a war hero yourself.
And the -- and the -- in the name the and a son and I maybe one who is in them Marines to.
There are your thoughts on memorial -- The great honor of my life it was who had the opportunity along -- going far away to serve in the company of heroes.
Men like Jim Stockdale and Bud Day and -- rice and -- Bill Lawrence they inspired us to do things that we never would have been capable of our motto was home with honor and because of their leadership and their love for us we did come home with -- Senator McCain want to thank you for coming in today and especially on this week and we thank you sir for your service to the nation.
Thank you very much.
