Earlier in the week he -- with family on Memorial Day and I spent some time with him and part of the big Romney family in Southern California some of the kids -- lots of grandchildren.
And a country that is just now getting to know him.
I asked a lot of people what they would ask you.
So would you say that the governor if you had to its.
And most said they did not know enough about you.
-- surprise you a lot of -- so this early stage we're we're just.
Just beginning a general election we've gone through a primary not a lot of people have focused time mind.
And that characteristics of of a new candidate like myself.
And that people will get to know me better on my guess is they gonna get to know more about me than they'd like to but that time we're finished.
A lot of people that have talked to me about that process.
Think that -- tough -- to crack.
Is there truth to benefit depends on things that I was asking -- You know I I don't I don't I I don't know that's the case about I think as people get to know who better -- someone like me somewhat it's probably the nature of how most folks.
Think about that well is is that he's very private.
And that that thing that is.
Interesting for me is to see that there are misperceptions out there.
About how people think they know and this is why I love having an opportunity.
To say this is the narrative that I want from an assistant real narrative in the real prison.
That's part of the process to an all that but you ran a company.
In 2001 I think had twelve billion dollars it costs.
And what kind of a boss -- you.
We have to ask the people who work for everybody but I want you but fortunately for you the first 1 in the morning -- the last one to lead did you take three hours.
-- in the morning not long no one says and the last one to leave me -- -- a heart he's the hardest working person I've ever met besides his father.
George Tammy who was.
A crazy man that he has so much -- crazy good crazy good crazy unbelievable.
Good and they.
Think -- might get the brick that was his -- the -- just solid this couldn't penetrate what about you as a boss how would you describe yourself.
Well again I'm not the right one -- describe that but I didn't see myself as a boss.
I saw myself as someone that would help organize some extraordinary people.
And the people that worked -- -- -- -- work ten.
There were exceptionally bright highly motivated.
With extraordinary insights.
I'm a number of them better than and I and a and a series of dimensions and I was not always an eyes compasses I was a -- to set the compensation.
But I -- of the people more than -- paid myself because I thought they were doing a better job.
Here you are traveling all over the country.
And you're meeting with middle class families.
That have been through some kind of -- over the past four years and they were fighting to stay alive.
Just to get through it -- save themselves and their kids from ground.
Financially speaking how do you make a connection to those people.
Yes I speak to people that are.
What I find is that the statistics.
The kind of of pain and insecurity.
That exists in American homes.
I see people who may be employed.
But are very concerned they can lose your job at any time -- back to the connection.
Aspect of this.
There will be people and you know this already who will look -- she was just a successful rich guy.
Like FDR -- that John Kennedy yeah.
And there have been plenty of people that this is that I didn't just out of this for a third 2000 feet but -- -- this is just until this.
Is that a nation that divides people based upon what they've been successful or not.
We don't we don't -- -- this person won the lottery and therefore we you know they can't understand me your quickly instead look at people and and to celebrate their success of their achievement.
And we look for people who have the skills we think will make our lives better the real need in America is to help middle income families.
Get good jobs of rising incomes and more security and help people -- -- come out of poverty to become middle income.
But from San Diego a few days ago a bit later today and again tomorrow more my interview with the Romney's on his -- And more and his family and perhaps -- you have not seen or been introduced -- just yet if you're looking for policy that's really not the intention for why we went to California.
This is really trying to get to know this man because he's going to be in your living rooms now for at least the next six months and possibly a lot longer for that.
You look at electability numbers which -- had a tough time went to a certain extent.
This is people window to sort of decide they think for themselves based on a little bit more understanding of who he is and and it it it's fascinating silicon -- the next next -- --
