Welcome back another college feeling the impact of the Health Care Reform law Clearwater Christian university in Florida is warning students.

Of their health insurance cost will more than double come the fall.

And this is cause students to search for an alternative or pay up.

One of those students feeling the impact is Curtis Johnson who was a student at Clearwater Christian college and he joins us this morning Curtis thanks to see -- this morning.

Good to see -- playing so you open the letter and you were shocked to find out what was inside this letter what are the letter say to you.

Well it was from the director of our human resources department.

And she basically said that that due to the Affordable Care Act my health hearing -- my health care insurance costs for going to double -- And should in this is all rolled of course -- the money you're already paying -- college we know how expensive it already is so what would that mean in terms of dollars and cents to a student who.

But let's be honest you know we only -- Rama noodles were in college right Cheerios out of a box for three meals a day.

Right right you know I I paid 465.

Dollars my freshman year 600 dollars my sophomore year.

And then within a year's time it's more than double it's gone from 600 to over thirteen hundred dollars.

And I mean we should to be honest I I have to pay for tuition and room and board.

And all those things and in this is just becoming unbearable -- -- that is crazy here's what Christian clear aren't Clearwater Christian College says in the statement they -- due to the patient protection and Affordable Care Act.

The cost of student health insurance has doubled in addition.

Most insurance carriers are hesitant to provide contracts for this insurance.

Do the unpredictability of the cost of the claims.

Were you surprised at this movement from the -- affordable health care act which is that.

President Obama and -- his administration had promised that this would help students this would reduce rates.

Get more affordable.

Right -- absolutely no President Obama and the democratic leaders in congress.

They champion this bill and they told the country and they specifically told college students.

That -- this bill would lower the costs of health insurance and and not only have my costs risen.

They've more than doubled.

You know the HHS is not commenting specifically on your situation but they're seeing in general -- -- put it up on the screen and how do you respond to -- students -- purchase health insurance through their college -- university will also benefit.

From the humor of the new consumer protections in the law what do you say -- that.

Well you know what if if -- -- one of those protections I could have purchased those are all right could have gone with the Denver provider.

-- that insurance plan that Clearwater had covered everything I needed it was affordable.

I'm just I'm just disappointed you know Nancy Pelosi told us.

You know we had to pass this bill to find out what's in it and I'm sure finding out what's -- it for myself I never thought that it would directly affect me.

President Obama did very very well in 2008 among young voters one of the areas that the president thinks perhaps is critical to his reelection is the youth vote what are you hearing on campus among your friends your college classmates about this administration.

Well you know the the problem with this bill is that it doesn't just affect.

And I'm I'm personally a Republican and it doesn't just affect college Republicans.

It's going to affect college students across the country.

And and when you're messing with somebody's pocket book that that's not gonna make you happy itself.

You know I I I honestly don't know what that the people in my school are thinking but.

I don't think Obama it is going to have it's good to turn out in the college age group as he did in 2008.

-- of a lot of kids are opening of letters and having the same reaction that you had Curtis good luck to you there and that we hope things could turn around a little bit on this -- soon for you thanks Curtis.

Thank you --
