Talk about where we are right now the 2012 race that reaction now we're going to hear from two governors one Democrat one Republican to get some perspective Maryland's Martin O'Malley.
Joins me in a moment but first we welcome Virginia Republican governor.
Bob McDonnell who is in Richmond tonight governor thanks for being here your thoughts on this evening ended its significance.
But as it's a big night for Wisconsin but I think it's a big night for America Scott Walker's.
Leader with courage -- said he was going to great jobs focus on economic recovery.
Get people back to work -- balance the budget without raising taxes.
And you know what he did all of those things he got results and I think the overwhelming win tonight Brad looks like a turn out nearly a presidential proportions at eight.
Margin bigger than is though when a year and a half ago says that the people response than not responded well they like a leader with -- -- results.
And that's great for America.
-- how much do you think it plays in November when it comes to Wisconsin do you think the Romney campaign and your closely associated with that campaign.
Will now consider Wisconsin.
A possibility.
Well absolutely.
The coalitions that way put together for this Wisconsin campaign.
The return other Republican Governors Association and that's about nine million.
Business people across the country responded to his message of free -- -- the NRA Americans for prosperity.
Everybody pitched in those -- the same coalitions Brett that you're gonna say behind Mitt Romney I think in November because the issues of the same with Obama.
And Romney and that is balancing the budget without raising taxes.
Doing something about this immoral unsustainable debt and getting people back to work.
A Mitt Romney can -- a lot better than 8% unemployment rate from forty months out.
What happened Wisconsin the ground game the energy and the issues I think will be to save in five months in November.
Is this a blow for unions.
Across the country.
Well they certainly this is their third try they try to judge they tried several legislators.
-- now the governor lieutenant governor and more senators tonight absolutely although you know -- what this issue but this election really came down -- night wasn't about.
The issues of -- a year ago as much as it was about the record of Scott Walker -- getting results and it was about taxes and spending.
And jobs and economic development it really had a little less to do with the union issues.
But I did think that there were so energized in trying to defeat Jimenez agenda on repeated attempts.
And now they've been rebuffed overwhelmingly tonight I did think it is.
A blow to the unions -- -- but it -- up positive step for free enterprise and job creators.
Governor you know governor Kasich an Ohio had to push back on his effort to.
They've got to go after gold plated pensions and and his effort in Ohio.
Although Scott Walker now with his recall.
Defeat defeating the recall keeping an office.
Has had a win how do you think this plays to -- perhaps governors who are thinking about making some of these moves in other states.
About that's a very good question as Republican governors across the country are doing some of the same thing Scott Walker has been doing.
Embracing policies that does support the American dream and a lot of these are tough decisions it's look at voters in the -- and -- you know what we can't afford to do business the same way.
In America we got 1516 trillion in debt in our states we have debt deficits that need to be eliminated three point six billion in Wisconsin.
And governors are engaging in pension reform and economic development reforms and tax cuts.
And just be an honest to say we've got to change the way we do business because we can't afforded it things the same way and Scott Walker was rewarded by the voters tonight.
And I think -- Mitt Romney sticking to this same kind of message about economic prosperity.
And reducing spending and reducing debt and deficits and -- a better environment for energy generation he'll be rewarded -- Governor McDonnell thank you very much for the job big nights where you were side of the I'll.
Up next governor --
