Talk more about the political fallout from Wisconsin exit polls -- giving us some inside the power of the Tea Party highlighted with supporters there overwhelmingly voting for Governor Walker over mayor Tom -- 92 to 7%.

Perhaps no surprise there.

What it comes to the race for the White House -- President Obama still leads among voters who were polled last night he gets 51%.

To governor Romney's 44%.

And those voters also giving the president a narrow edge on the handling of the economy with President Obama leading governor Romney 42 to 38%.

Let's talk about it all now with a Rich Lowry the editor of the national review and a Fox News contributor.

Why did Scott Walker win last night rich well I think the biggest thing John it was that his reforms were.

Seem to have worked -- -- when he initially passed them and there is this convulsion of controversy.

And Madison and all the protesters.

-- approval rating plummeted.

But over the last year and a half -- so.

People scene that these reforms and power localities to make sensible cutbacks in the way they did business ironically his opponent a recall election -- Milwaukee.

Mayor Tom Barrett used those reforms to save an estimated ten million dollars so that was just a huge benefit to walker he talked about that everywhere he went.

And then John another big factor is just the recall itself was seen.

As slightly illegitimate the -- -- poll says that people thought the recall should really be reserved.

Four instances of gross official misconduct.

And a lot of he would this perceived this as a revenge tactic.

Vital left and it backfired in a major -- one of the surprising figures to me as we took those fox exit polls was the relative -- level of support.

The both candidates enjoyed among union members and we can put that up on the screen right now.

The Scott Walker didn't win the union vote but he did pretty well 38%.

What does that tell.

Yes his real split between the public sector and the private sector unions and -- and private sector union members that tells us.

Are prone to view the public sector unions is taking advantage is of privileges.

That no one else had -- now's the key thing here the public sector unions are you know -- protecting our rights I think most people saw these things.

As privileges you know paying a really small amount.

Into their pensions are really small amount for their health care much less than anyone else and that the private sector.

Does and I think John it one of the key takeaways for Republican reformist Republican governors around the country.

Is you don't necessarily need to go -- whole hog the way Scott Walker did if you do one thing.

An end to mandatory dues -- public sector unions -- -- huge hit.

Because that -- a couple key public sector unions and last year and a half it's seeing drastic reductions in their membership.

Just because the state is no longer collecting their dues for them and that's another privileged to state doesn't collect dues for most other organizations.

Right right because a lot of those unions.

Have shrunk dramatically because -- dues collection is not mandatory correct asked me is gone down by -- lost about 50%.

I was membership but we also saw that in Indiana where Mitch Daniels did something similar.

By executive order said state of Indiana is no longer in -- collected.

And that also we saw a drastic reduction in membership in those unions in Indiana so just shows if these union members themselves are not forced.

Pony up their.

That's gonna change or will what Wisconsin remain a blue state come November.

Well I think it's going to be much closer to 2002004.

Aware Democrats won Wisconsin but it was just buy -- -- and we're not gonna see President Obama waltzing to a -- big double digit win.

And the way he did in 2000 -- itself.
