Six thanks Ryan are you kids headed to camp this summer if so you might be having discussions like.

Missed one.

Morris I don't wanna be one of those pushy parents -- to wait a minute -- what is that supposed to mean young man.

There weren't gonna computers -- -- -- are funny things I'd rather deal with 3000 dollars is only two.

-- -- and even once you drop them off it doesn't mean you've heard the last of them -- Is the author of the new book PS I still hate -- -- more kids letters from camp and she joins us live from Chicago and warranty yeah.

Good morning thanks for having me on gays -- a couple of years ago you say you're eight year old daughter -- -- could -- camp and you figured you wind up with some good she letters.

Mom I love it here.

You didn't get that did you.

Now now we got the I'm absolute antithesis of that I you know she had convinced us.

With everything -- just shy of the PowerPoint presentation I think that's why she was ready to -- And -- we somehow you know took it hook line and sinker and acquiesced and shipped her off and then the letters start to comment and they were.

Crazy hyper -- -- -- and you got it you've got it I can't stop you have crying they're making -- you know it's sweeping clean the cabins.

Back -- and that kind of thing that -- -- think about sending him up to camp though is that they actually do these old fashioned traditional things where they don't allow text messaging and phone calls and that includes from the parents -- relies so heavily on hearing from them.

By the old -- written note.

Now you come out with another book from other campers and families let's look at some of the letters because they're hysterical.

Here's the first one -- your mom dad I love everything about this camp except the campers.

I I think you know you have to love that one and -- that high in the low of the parents getting that letter and oh she loves -- -- and then if the immediate drop down you know except that campers you're.

Here's another -- don't waste your money mom and dad by leaving me here any longer not a me.

Pop up.

Eight when there is a chapter in this -- called yet can you get a refund.

So I love that that yet even the kids that are you know miserable they're still sensitive enough that they understand this did cost a lot.

We want to come home -- badly but can you get a refund and a the -- on the data but.

Here's another one I wanna go home I -- Obama -- it on -- wanna know all I wanna know I wanna know Olympia just me and Bobby have been crying -- in this letter.

Odds are pretty happy with the but you know it is and and there's still healing -- even though.

-- letters that are heartbreaking.

You know I think there's something at least the ones that I was attracted to and I read through 5000 letters I've -- to pick back.

150 that are in this collection and -- in that the first -- -- I needed here.

But there's something that you feel there's a ray of hope out there he doesn't even a little Bobby who wrote that you know I'm crying when I write this it's still -- -- -- -- love Bobby and their little hearts and so you know you still get the sense that there are some things somewhat optimistic here.

Okay.

Well this when does it this final awarded an excerpt doesn't sound particularly optimistic.

But I I'm stuck in hell and they won't let me call for you to pick me up so when you get this pick me up.

We too high and having the worst -- of my life they won't let me call for you are my parents so when you pick this up.

Pick me up week three getting a little better time.

Can't say how many friends but a few -- for having a little better time.

Still not heaven but it's OK -- Fun terrible great all mixed together.

All fantastically there is that there's that optimistic little little twist at the and that child worked out I hope that you in the summary of this book you come to the conclusion.

That camp is a good thing for these kids because the letters sometimes don't seem to say that.

Yes absolutely and I think think camp that the ultimate right of passage of spending -- these kids are living.

On independently for the first time nominee data are around to suit and pacify and now -- -- these kids.

And so it's really their time.

When they take pen to paper it's that ultimate self imposed timeouts and I think it's a great -- we've come a long way from camp Granada.

I read all about it PSA still here to hear more letters from kids -- can't -- want to thank you very much for joining us live from Chicago.

Banks.

Made.
