Sixteen minutes after the top of the hour well Rick Santorum is you.

Dropped out of the presidential race.

But he hasn't given up on his fight for this year's election today the former senator and presidential candidate formally -- an exclusive announcement on his plans.

The -- yeah that's right -- is right now from Chicago where he's appearing at sea -- Chicago this we're gonna get Rick Santorum weren't you senator.

During their mr.

DC area -- -- a great thank you very much well it's embargoed news and tell right now what are you doing now.

Well.

It was a things that we founded as a travel around the country is it that people came out to be allotted said that you were.

I was out there is speaking about things that gave voice to their concerns of a lot of issues that you know people are concerned obviously about the economy people are concerned about national security that.

Think a lot of people have some basic anxiety about where America is going and I try to talk about this in the campaign they've of these.

Adherence to that to the constitution and the importance of understanding where our rights come from and who we are as a people and and and the culture and and how that is being changed by this administration whether it's religious liberty your life four -- marriage and and of course.

You know we talked a lot about the the manufacturing base and the people left behind by both parties Democrats who want to make.

You know folks more dependent than Republicans who don't seem to be talking about.

You know the 70% of Americans who don't go to college and so we wanted to put an organization together that reflected those voices across America and we were calling it patriot voices you go to patriot voices dot com and sign up.

And we're going to be talking about those issues it in this not just in this campaign -- going forward and we're going to be holding candidates accountable and and get involved with candidates supporting them and of course supporting Mitt Romney making sure that that that that is the next step present I'd states and and that we get rid of the scourge that is and the Bane of the economy in America of our country which is Barack -- and his administration.

So let's talk about governor Mitt Romney -- -- you became runner up to for the nomination I don't know late night miss if you say he's your guy.

Are you gonna have a more formal announcement.

I heard the meeting between you guys did not go as well and that's why the announcement was late at night.

In a -- in a it and no.

The -- was was late tonight and email because I sent an email to to our that we about 300000 email.

Folks that we -- communicate with them.

We wanted to be in their mailbox first thing in the morning so didn't get buried in the in the middle of the day and it we laid it out very clearly as to -- I was supporting governor Romney the meeting went exceptionally well I don't know well.

I didn't hit -- reports and it didn't go well I mean we we we had a great discussion.

About exactly the issues that we're going to be talking about what patriot voices dot com -- -- that.

It's it's it's about the issues that are gonna connect with ordinary Americans who are feeling left out of the political process to see.

Both parties talking past each other -- no one try to really get back to the basic principles of our country unify America going forward.

All right let's talk about another really hot topic right now on Capitol Hill and that is whether or not.

Special national security secrets sealed.

Were let loose by somebody within the White House leaked to yet leaked to the newspapers to try and make president Obama's foreign policy.

Look better right before the election well apparently now the White House is rejecting -- special counsel.

Needed to investigate those leaks Jay Carney the president's spokesperson is saying no to that when you make -- Well -- I think the congress has a responsibility here this is any of you I just was listening to the -- the the issue before I came on which was the Eric Holder issue and what you see as congress in with congress needs to do which is to hold the executive branch accountable.

We do have a special prosecutor.

Law no precedent that I'm aware of likes the press special prosecutor was I'm frankly not surprised about that.

But this is where congress has to step up and do its job and do the oversight that's necessary.

They're clearly trying to do with Eric Holder and I think they have to do it here -- aren't joining us today from Chicago to announce his new program called patriot voices.

Senator Rick Santorum thank you very much have a great weekend there at -- -- Thank you today.
