As new details on how both parties are sort of prepping for the fallout from the supreme court's decision which could come down any day now.
On health care a lot this is a new poll shows 41% of Americans want the entire health care law.
Overturned 27%.
Say they just -- -- -- as the federal mandate.
Out of the health care law and only 24%.
Say they wanna keep a lot just as it is so about one in four Americans as as represented by this poll.
Want to keep it just like it is so that is a lot of room for change perhaps in the future and that the Obama administration has said that they'll be ready.
If the law and the mandate go down -- part of it or all of it the health and human services secretary Kathleen Sebelius says she believes that if that happens.
That would be a catastrophe.
We've had two years.
Incredible changes and improvements to Medicare stabilizing.
Preventive services.
We assume that would be unraveled because those would no longer be a lot it has some pretty -- Cataclysmic.
Impact.
Along the -- Way.
So Republicans do not agree with that but they say that they will wait.
To see what the Supreme Court decides before putting forth their alternative if he gets shot down.
Joined now by -- -- when former deputy assistant to president George Tenet is less and Robert -- is a former advisor to Joseph Biden.
He's the president and CEO -- global welcome John good to have you here today.
You know anything in this gonna happen any day you know they said in June and we expect that it'll come.
Some time over the next ten days -- so.
If it gets shot down Brad should Republicans.
Be ready with something more specific than just saying -- figured out if it happened.
Yes they must analyze the court's decision and -- they must have a coordinated response between the house the senate and Mitt Romney he's the presidential.
Nominee who's going to have to carry a lot of this Warner.
In the debates would President Obama and -- what he offers as an alternative Republicans it's not enough.
To say the law has been struck down if that happens they must have an alternative.
And contrary to law is upheld they have to double down their efforts.
To repeal and replace it once -- take power in night January 2013.
Robert when you look at those poll numbers that they're pretty dire only one out of every four.
Say that they wanna keep the law the way it is so that is a lot of room for improvement and that may or may not be as not actually in the business of the Supreme Court is gonna rule whether not they think it's constitutional.
But are changes in order either way on the democratic side you thank.
I think there's -- it publishing things about that poll one is I wonder how many.
College students were in that poll who's gonna keep their parents health care coverage to -- 26.
-- seniors were in that poll there already seen savings because of the changes in in Medicare that the secretary of health and human services.
Discussed yet -- thing in the poll is the gap between the American public.
Generally and the Tea Party the Tea Party almost to -- one.
-- is more adamant on this position than the American public which which really speaks to the need if it is overturned part or or holy.
Then then what is the solution because we're gonna continue to have.
People went into emergency rooms for primary care care that they should be getting from family doctor.
We're gonna have people lose coverage because of primary or a preexisting conditions.
And we're gonna have an increasing costs because people haven't they are getting subsidized had -- His neck as as Kathleen Sebelius says that that that it would be a horrible situation to land -- if indeed it gets it gets overturned.
But -- -- I think the question politically when you look at this Brad.
Is whether or not as I said before the Republicans need to have warmer response and they have been criticizing and perhaps justifiably so.
We're not having a sort of clear cut alternative and perhaps legislation you know sort of in the hopper and ready to know.
That answers some of the questions and that wouldn't be changed by -- out.
What we know that this president created a constitutional crisis on health care there wasn't the kind of crisis on health care as there was.
On the economy when this president took office and he's ruled out of ideology instead of reality now having said that we can't anticipate what the court is going to do we have to react.
To what the court does we have to do it quickly and we have to make sure again it's coordinated between the house the senate.
And the presidential standard bearer for us Mitt Romney and and less work -- -- -- with a proper response as to what we will do depending on what the Supreme Court does.
But I think that we have a gift to the president.
Who who is by the way if health care struck down this presents an awful lot of explaining to do.
Prior to that he was highlighted to concentrate on health -- at the -- of the economy.
That our rather's you know there's no alternative you know it's it's there is alternative a -- of that -- now you said your way what broke the court decides.
What do that Romney and this is the Republican conundrum is -- the core the Romney plan is the core of the Obama plan.
That -- people can -- daughters should have insurance so the Republicans have held back on any proposal any legislation any hearing.
And instead.
Let's just hope -- reason why you held back get back present on the -- -- to the Supreme Court and you guys created the crisis by -- well the Supreme Court it gets this case there's very little we can do to overturn it IE a mandate what we have a democratic president and the senate controlled by Democrats.
I guess what got a -- -- at what what we won't deal.
Is facet 2700.
Page bill on the mound and at that -- -- what we won't do -- on the -- and that's that they are strong and that apple won't be you know what's and it.
That's a Sony straw man if it looked they run the house reps as they can hold hearings they can recruit Democrats.
They can write the -- it's senseless to that you -- at work and wasted ability.
I'm willing to win -- of the -- quarter is gonna decide -- case that it opens Wellington right nobody really did artwork on Capitol Hill pass tough legislation.
May be -- that maybe the reason attendance at 15% approval rating for congress overall they go thanks very much Robert and -- -- in this.
