-- Wisconsin governor Scott Walker's recall election victory the governor of Indiana has a message for public unions.

Here is Mitch Daniels on FOX News Sunday.

I think really government works better without them I really do you know.

In in our state we had a sixteen year run with so called collective bargaining.

And we did and it.

I wanna say that the although it led to the saving of large amounts of tax dollars it wasn't principally about that we had a 160 pages of the shackles really on government's ability to deliver services better and seven years later we are delivering services across the board.

I think what a lot of people may lose sight of is that -- Daniel was doing this before Scott Walker -- it's.

The vote from Wisconsin how do you interpret it I think -- that this is probably going to be something like prop thirteen in California -- -- certainly.

It was an effort in California by Howard Jarvis to reduce payroll taxes across the board.

And it really triggered the whole tax cut revolution that started late seventies of course propelled through through with the Ronald Reagan.

I think simply that the vote last Tuesday in Wisconsin will be the beginning of all -- -- states and cities -- making major roll backs in the kind of pension and -- benefit expenses and my remote walker did though he just had workers contribute more the retirement fund there's a way elect has put it is for example the taxpayers share of health benefits simply.

Was about 94 cents the dollar he chopped it all the way down 87.

And he's treated as if he's thrown these people on street -- -- they're still that taxpayers Wisconsin -- -- 87 cents of those benefits but that's down from 94 that's that's big report.

And yet he was treated and is described as Adolf Hitler by some of his opponents which courses -- and visit the bigger point is no one lost their job of Wisconsin.

Because they were able to lower the benefit expenses these people are able to it to stay on board he said look if we don't do this I'm an attempt to have mass firings -- -- -- what are other governors now doing.

But is it making the State's better.

Are they healthier.

Economic I think they are I think that the expenses they're seeing are just absurd and ridiculous I mean just -- a broad example the average.

Public -- a private sector -- experts extra 1000 dollars a year and selling benefits -- USA today.

A state local government workers about 70000 federal workers -- 120 so they're making about double what people are in the private sector.

This is just this these this is incredibly balanced since we brought much lower on that perhaps your point is well taken but everybody knows -- teacher firefighter police officer of the society stuff to do your -- -- -- teach my mom was teacher my mom's retired teacher and and I certainly appreciate her service I appreciate the service of the NYPD unit in the FDNY.

-- -- But I don't think it's at all and -- say look the the incredible imbalance and in payments has been brought down stings -- pension spiking should end this is a practice where if you work for twenty years let's say.

Your pensions based on your last two or three years of work and lot of people work up a lot of overtime.

And they get these inflated pensions we should say for example look.

We'll get a pension based on what -- average wages across your entire career.
