This is the first time that you're being challenged by someone.

Of Latin descent in a district that has been transformed in the course of your tenure as the congressman now the district is not predominantly black.

It's predominately Latino I think it's only a quarter black but almost half Hispanic and in fact it's also a 20% white now.

So this is a different district than the one you were one election back let's it was a specific late -- it would certainly.

Atlas that -- he said there was a new light -- I don't know what.

In the Latino vote grew.

Has a -- -- any particular difference in these issues.

Good site.

And its -- just we just passed over Adam Clayton Powell who was a candidate against who was born in Puerto Rico.

Wood shows you how little difference it really makes it campaign.

-- The fact that he is what we it was -- that issue.

And in fact one.

It's.

We're not getting involved in that I would say this is the first time -- public official.

Public officials say it's it's it's.

It's the first time that I've been targeted by -- form political action -- it usually those that Democrats.

And good to get Republicans.

Did you go -- goes after the black endorses them to house Republicans.

They usually do that that's what -- -- want to change the political composition of the congress.

Now they've been buying Democrats.

And democratic.

It's just -- -- those and which which it -- -- design which group is there's.

I forget the name of the victim -- Texas.

But quite frankly -- we -- that the newspapers you don't mean -- you mean outside of your district yeah -- Okay Aetna has this Texas group and they had to you do Obama Andy.

As soon as he got elected.

And as -- it right he means that.

I mean this -- Now your opponent.

Is impacting American born.

And the question then becomes.

Do.

Hispanic officials in your district.

Make a decision about who endorse -- you have some prominent endorsements.

But he does to you find that this is splitting the Latino community in the district that politically.

He's only had two.

-- groups that might be a legacy is he only has one elected.

Person.

That -- -- background supporting him.

And and no Latin person that.

If you're talking about Pullman the president yeah his two former Bronx Borough president's -- to President Clinton and his daddy and and the entire.

-- in the patent allegations so what do you think about the idea that the Latino community is being split in this -- I think it's natural.

Having them and view it that they Don Payne who the team -- succeed.

People that you know.

-- it is but it's you know like this it was -- it and here is if you glances supported me.

What happens judgment against me that I did -- -- seniority issue dies because the community really.

Life.

But they certain services that Medina was giving.

And so.

No what happens is it's it's typical bill -- Is that if you want him again and use it to -- and when you begin president began -- -- and -- It's you sent me if he can do it you can do it and yet and if you're -- problems like unemployment Social Security Medicaid Medicare.

This guy this so it's been poorly and -- if it -- I think music is nice guy you know that we can implement a little less than they -- it -- and and and that's what I'm relying on and have every confidence.

Are you see this now not just in New York you see it must mean -- the Houston Chicago.

The Hispanic community is growing -- -- second largest majority minority group in the country.

More Hispanics and blinds you see this as.

Something that's going to.

In fact increased tensions political tensions between blacks and Hispanics as they run for elected office.

Only if the kind -- since its tendency.

When things are rough.

You have to complaint against somebody.

You can bet your life period.

Through your quality of life makes -- -- So it did -- -- but it doesn't surprise me that the federal especially the congresses that such -- low favorable world.

But no if you work -- -- thickness.

I mean job for you.

And this opportunity.

That's a -- on the about it let me show you how we do this thing.

I remember when the Latino history stuff -- after going through the civil rights votes.

They were fighting each other and being manipulated these lot of that taxes.

We.

You have to understand the politics you have to run to win.

And that run to feel good -- -- Henderson but that but I think that the expensive running.

Complications.

Of getting on the ballot and fortunately courts now and that is -- use that now but if things get -- Immigrants and everybody else but in the long run.

This.

European.

Country.

-- that have to recognize.

That -- that's that you would need an.

It was probably looking at.

But you're not -- around the world -- that you're not saying that there's going to be any divisions political divisions between blacks and Hispanics.

Went to put your share the political party going forward you don't see I can't say that -- like -- states that we have been with us.

-- like there's just aren't you look at that now let's talk a little bit about presidential politics.

You said recently that you don't think the average person can relate.

To the likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney line.

Well.

The way I look at it.

America's a country compassion.

It's a country that often speak little opportunity.

Abroad and people that he here.

I hit it in the war and they gave me that had much of an education.

But they know there in the best country and in an -- And sentinel that is some basic things it would take it would -- long long time and that is if you get sick.

Trying to get to school.

To his -- -- you for -- and that even though we old essentially at this and and what Mitt Romney has done this intense.

It's like shooting dice and being able to win this win some lose this job and countless.

-- -- -- you -- this.

It if you look at -- The federal government's job is to take you Americans.

So if this is the source of income and productivity good good good good -- -- the last.

But someone has become but those -- and in America that is what we do.

That's what we expect to do and no matter where you want your -- -- is expected to it in the case it would succeed.

Deficit.

He was it should be reduce.

Knowing my -- -- communities as yet.

It's inches and it sucks that Helen -- right and and you take them to -- this thing entries we have to do something.

But -- say.

It would that it you'll -- cutting programs.

And for those people have been fortunate to have this obscene look of the week even to a close and the.

So you don't see you don't see President Obama.

Despite bad economic numbers.

Losing the Hispanic vote or the black.

All head -- and do you see him lose in the election.

Well.

I don't want to believe that people selling -- -- Well.

But I really respect themselves -- not.

And that sort of what to look.

But.

The properties.

And -- Latin American community and the black community.

Of people that -- gets booed him and lose again -- -- Without a job and you know we'll advocates and economists say I gotta get it -- second tournament the first black president.

I don't mind that these guys and except.

That beat this.

Do.

So the Republicans are energized no question -- Democrats are now if you lose -- question.

Has to.

What you think about this Republican campaign.

Republican debates as this thing at the hat to.

At this.

-- -- but it's still a case that the polls have just about time.

Get to it's bit.

You can't really put too much it's saying we know it's going to be -- is look -- the attack that the election.

Good thing is it ends up saying -- really yet.

Congressman Charles Rangel thank you so much for joining us with fox news with the you know explosive thank you to have these guests -- it.
