According to assume the Obama administration in federal court and what happened -- the Obama administration returned the fire and just -- Florida now that both suing each -- but why are both sides so steamed at each other according governor Rick Scott joined this -- governor.

Good evening it was an issue listen here comes this from Karl Rove we've cut taxes in Florida we've reduced regulation.

And now we're the lowest in three years -- -- is closed in three years so.

If they would do that the federal level our economy all across the country would get as good as for his game.

Well that's good news for the people of Florida I'm not so good news for you you get -- -- -- -- status by the feds found.

And tell me this voter what what you're seeking you don't have -- explain is that.

You're trying to have purges and non citizen voters from their voting -- files and tell me about this.

Sure Greta there's no purge what we're trying to make sure is Americans have a sacred right to vote.

It's not right to that would give deluded by and non citizen it's illegal for someone not -- in this country to vote it's a crime.

So we did is we started the process about a year ago we start asking Homeland Security for their database which would allow us.

To look at that helped make sure that we -- -- supervisor of elections make sure that they didn't have non citizens voting.

-- Stalled and finally.

We took our motor vehicle database and -- small sample and guess what.

We found almost a hundred non citizens they're rich devote.

Over fifty a vote in elections.

That's wrong that's a crime.

So what we ended up doing is we had no choice but to sue the Department of Homeland Security so we did that.

And we're gonna make sure that you're right you're -- right to vote if you're US citizen is not -- in our state by non citizens.

Now what is the immersive group of people that you looked at first was it about a certain area of the state and eleven medallist in London is -- -- -- like golf for instance to big drivers' records of -- have a democratic section of the state -- like that.

Of course not -- -- this is -- not this is not a partisan issues -- Republican Democrat independent.

We what we did is we took a database it was we didn't say you know where you -- or anything like that we have said it based on that small sample.

Oh it'll look like those individuals might not be citizens.

We sent that -- supervisor elections we have eight we have good due process what happens is.

They have the opportunity then to send a letter out to those those individuals.

Then it -- they don't get a response in thirty days they file a notice in the paper if they don't get another response.

Then there will be taken off the rolls how ever.

If you go to the or if you go to the poll and say hey I'm supposed to be you able to vote you will be given a provisional ballot so your vote will count.

I am what -- how would -- -- and just understand -- -- -- don't of -- Homeland Security database to know whether -- citizens are not citizens.

Are you sending letters and -- shifting the burden of the people who received the letters to come forward to prove they are citizens.

Well what -- we did is we took that small sample that's what we've done so far and that's why we've had to sue.

Homeland Security for this database because it's the right database.

By federal law we have a right to the database.

It's supposed to be able to be used for voter registrations what we do -- we do the small sample and now we're trying to work with Homeland Security you to get the right -- called safe.

And use that to do -- the right way.

But the but the people who got this letter and -- the people -- Gordon this database he sent a letter to.

He did when he sent them the letter to give any information at that they might not be citizens.

Well always says you that I need to come forward and show is that you're US citizen.

And -- -- I don't follow yeah.

Well why didn't we get well -- some.

Sure -- but because the data that we had to.

It appeared that they were not US citizens.

We want to make sure that US citizens vote is not -- so we took that and look at that small sample -- we use that.

But what we need to use is the database from Homeland Security that's the right database and were entitled to it.

And I understand that -- -- a more official -- Cuba I'm -- I'm trying to understand that why did you think from the first scripted in my -- citizens if you didn't have the Homeland Security database to what was the.

About them.

Well we we looked at we looked at data from.

The motor vehicles and that database Davis.

An idea to believe that there were non citizens and -- how we gave that that -- like we're we're out of elections.

Like what governor I'm thinking about my own -- slices -- -- news and AM my driver's licenses say whether I'm a citizen not a citizen.

It's information they would given that they were you they would give homeland give the motor vehicles when they got their driver's license.

So maybe it's a bit different than I have filled out I don't know but an election and that consequently found at an assessment sewer running halftime the federal government is now -- you because.

You've changed some of your laws and they say they did so improperly but that.

Well another day and we -- talk about that one.

All right Matt were do we -- the right thing.

Governor and I started to -- there.
