Big news today out of the Department of Homeland Security were waiting for some sound to come in on this from Jana -- tonics on a conference call.

Right now explaining some of the details of this but -- basically what we know.

Is that it would relax the deportation rules for people under the age of thirty who were brought to this country.

Under the age of sixteen so this goes back to the issue.

A people who come in illegally with their parents under answered no -- not on their own volition.

And grow up in this country.

And want to work they will be able to get work permits it's raising a number of issues number one.

Wyatt the president decided not to go to congress to get this past that's one of the big issues we just vote congressman out west about that is none too happy about it.

The other big issue is whether it is specifically designed to court.

Latino voters.

During this election year here's Janet Pollack -- out on this moments ago Allison.

I believe that additional measures are needed to ensure that our enforcement resources are not expensive.

On low priority cases but aren't -- appropriately focused on people we need -- enforcement priorities.

Therefore.

Consent -- -- our existing -- of prosecutorial.

Discretion.

Today I am -- that effective immediately.

Young people who were brought to the United States through no fault of their owners' children.

And -- several key criteria.

Will no longer being removed from the country or entered into we will -- -- move from DH asked the president is gonna come out and speak about this at 1:15 eastern time this afternoon.

We'll cover that that'll be on America -- this afternoon -- Molly Henneberg joins me now live in Washington this.

It's more on this story hey -- Hi Martha she just said that it's effective immediately I'm looking at a Homeland Security press release it just came out that looked like it was.

That customs and immigration is supposed to begin implementing this process within sixty days so that's something maybe they can sort out on the conference call that begins now -- begin sort of at the end of summer.

But yes you -- it just secretary of autonomous talking about it now and President Obama at -- fifteen this afternoon.

It's going to talk about this change to immigration policy and and this is an issue that congress is -- really been wrangling over.

What to do about young.

Illegal immigrants who brought to this country by their parents they go to schools here they live here but they can't sort of come out live here legally so this is this is how the administration is dealing with it it may affect as many as 800000.

Illegal young immigrants you heard the danger -- drains have to be under -- thirty -- brought here before they turn sixteen they have to.

Have a high school degree or be in.

School here or have served in the military and they can't have any criminal history as you just heard the secretary talking about this is what they call low priority cases they don't want to go after.

Of these young kids.

But this this policy also does not include a path to citizenship and that's what congress -- been having a tough time -- how to deal with young immigrants but also.

Not do blanket amnesty and that's probably what the controversy is that you'll hear from.

Members of congress on this that the administration is stepping in here.

And what is -- by the citizenship issue and also -- what does it do about their parents and their families.

-- -- also here illegally now a lot of big questions and and some of the questions that we're getting and -- we have let me hear people's thoughts on this at Hong.

You can send me a tweet -- -- an account some of those are coming into one of the questions that has been raised is you know why the timing.

On this this is something because they're taking their own initiative on at the White House they could candidate anytime so why now and of course you know what folks.

Read into that is that it's an election year.

And -- a selection your politics and some very tight states like Colorado New Mexico.

Arizona Florida where these are very pressing issues.

And the president will be speaking in Florida a week from now to a group of Latino elected leaders met -- will be speaking the same group on Thursday President Obama on Friday.

It is an election year everything sort of have that.

We always look through a lot of these things a bullet through -- political lens and you can't discount to be speaking to this large Latino group next Friday and -- also point out that there has been some policy that has been being worked on by senator Marco Rubio of Florida.

That has a lot of similarities to this plan how they are different we'd love to talk to -- about so we'll stay on top of that as well -- thank you very much.

This past -- Hamburg in Washington is -- you want.
