Really lawsuits in Florida concerning the best way to prevent voter fraud -- the federal government is suing Florida for attempting to purge illegal voters from their roles before the big election.
Meanwhile Florida is suing the feds for access to an immigration database to help them find on US citizens.
Joining us now Pam body Florida's attorney general -- to have hearings yesterday thank you for joining -- to deal -- began by asking you why do you think and that the federal government has been denying Florida access to that database I think denying is an avalanche I think they're stonewalling.
Hmmm I I think it's outrageous and I don't understand why -- as the chief legal officer for the state of Florida I find it very frustrating.
Whites that why we don't have any answer as to why President Obama isn't cooperating with us I mean this is that this is a situation where we should all be on the same side.
We should all want legal voters because every illegal that -- negates a legal.
And so we find it very frustrating in the state and I'm proud of our governor for suing them.
And if you -- this isn't something that that -- taken lightly we -- Registered voters to and I understand you Marty found over a 100000.
Illegal voters -- -- rules so far.
Yeah enough that got through the governor and the Department of State I don't know the exact numbers but about what I do know is we we as a state.
Have spent over nine months trying to -- -- operate.
Wind Homeland Security asking for this database saying that we are entitled to you and that would fix this problem.
Because that's what we want we want -- cooperate with them we want to work together with them and we -- a resolution to -- at an and it's just so disappointing.
That there on that they're stonewalling us well that the Justice Department and others who are supporting this move a vice it was Florida are saying that.
This is violating the voter rights act and that it unnecessarily harassed as Hispanics and it is a way to try and benefit the Republican Party in this presidential contest because it's way too.
People who may not be complying with these laws in ways that the Republicans would like.
Well it's interesting because what they're saying is we've missed the timeframe under the voters' rights act of Florida has missed the time -- -- Well that's because -- artists that for nine months trying to work with Homeland Security so what you just discussed it would not happen.
So mass slaughters wouldn't be sent out to voters and some of who would be if some of whom would be.
Legal and eligible to vote -- know what's to scare them into not voting.
That's why that database is so import it.
Because -- then Florida would know who is not entitled to vote and they would be the people who are sent the letters they would be the people who are targeted.
And that's why Florida has been trying for so many months.
Two on to work with them and they basically been obstructionist and we're sick of it well there -- a lot of polls show that most Americans do support some type of identification card voter identification card to prove.
That they are legal in this country and yet we don't have -- of course.
But the same time those who are against this really believe that you're going to be violating civil rights if you go in this direction.
Well that's why we wanna do the right way and that's why Florida wants to work -- -- -- security.
This could be solved so easily if you would give us access to this database.
I mean no -- this should be a bipartisan issue we should be working together.
Because every -- legal vote nullified.
A legal and I mean people have lost lives in wars over the right to them.
And that's why it should be done -- really quickly quick reaction to president Obama's decision yesterday -- that policy should -- immigration.
Well I think that's a short term answer for a long term problem.
We have some real concerns with the constitutionality.
Right hand on -- to -- -- and -- -- -- -- you for joining -- -- -- --
