In New York City the child sex abuse case of the four Penn state university assistant football coach Jerry sandusky now goes to the jury.
Attorneys for both sides deliver their closing argument to the jurors are deliberating.
48 counts not 51 against coach -- dusty who's accused of raping and otherwise molesting ten boys over a fifteen year period.
The defense attorney blamed the system.
He said investigators were determined to put the defended behind bars he added quote they were going to get him.
Hell or high water even if they had to coach witnesses.
The defense lawyers said coach and does he asked him to read from a -- -- by mother Theresa.
One expert one excerpt from that is if you are kind of people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
Closed quote.
Coach sandusky never testified in his own defense.
The prosecutor called him a serial pedophile again he showed the jury photos of the accusers and described how coach said does he's encounters with each little boy.
Went across the full spectrum of predatory behavior from inappropriate touching all the way to rate.
At the end of his argument the prosecutor walked towards coach send us he pointed his finger right at him and told the jury you know we did it.
David Lee Miller is outside the courthouse yet again today in Pennsylvania.
David Lee it is.
What what what exactly happened today as they as the pointing happened -- all the rest in closing.
-- -- -- Conclusion of the open of the -- closing arguments -- Among the most dramatic -- of this entire trial let me take you through what happened here.
After speaking for about one hour the prosecutor Joseph make yet again then slowly and deliberately walked over to the defense table that's -- Jerry sandusky was -- Jerry sandusky looked up and -- -- -- said he knows what he did and you know what he did acknowledge it.
Been speaking about the victims he said give them justice and then speaking about -- dusty added giving him the justice he really deserves.
Earlier the prosecution.
Was speaking about the victims.
And sandusky appear to have a smirk across his face.
That was no longer the case the prosecutor also told the jury that -- dusty preyed on the most vulnerable.
Children many of whom did not have fathers he also told the jury that this and -- Displayed what he described as.
Predatory pedophile behavior and as he spoke -- in the front row of the courtroom sat many of the victims who testified during the trial.
Now as for the defense they're closing arguments were also fraught with a motion.
Defense attorney Joseph Amendola said quoting him now if he did this meanings and dusty he should rot in jail the rest of his life.
But what if he didn't do it his life is destroyed not only his life.
We have a university president a dead coach an institution that has gone to -- and then Amendola went on to.
Lay out in great detail what he believes is essentially a conspiracy.
The witnesses here at the accusers essentially fabricating these stories for the purposes of filing very costly civil suits.
Shepherd beat the jury is now deliberating and very quickly I should add that the drama is nowhere.
Near over here when the jury does reach a verdict.
This courthouse is essentially going to be on lockdown we are told that anyone inside the courtroom will not be allowed to exit.
Until in fact the entire verdict has been rendered and court has adjourned.
Only at that time will the media be allowed to -- and to report whatever it is.
The jury has decided -- David Lee Miller David Lee thanks very much in Pennsylvania outside the courthouse the legal -- -- in today let's get their opinions on where we are now former prosecutor -- legal analyst -- right dollar.
-- defense attorney -- Zell and -- art Arthur you've been arguing says prosecutor Els and for the most part during the course of these events.
The the close is David Lee described it pretty dramatic.
You're the one thing that makes me nervous from a prosecutorial point of view you know.
When we speak about these cases Randy he's always saying the judge is gonna dismiss it before -- -- -- the jury the judge ministers -- -- -- -- said that about John Edwards a couple weeks ago.
Hit the judge actually did dismiss a couple of accounts before -- -- that it.
And and to -- -- based on the fact that the evidence the judge said the evidence just wasn't -- and these were real serious counts.
Now there with 51 counts of -- to -- a little cavalier about an additional 48 judges than that for the jurors to consider.
But it means that at least one of those witnesses Sheppard came off that not credible at all.
Which would mean if a judge takes an actuary -- you concerned as a prosecutor.
How did the rest of the -- -- -- come often to -- -- jurors hopefully truthful.
A really.
Anger.
In this case.
Has replaced evidence.
-- motion.
In this case has supplanted.
Proof.
There is no physical evidence not a shred of evidence.
There's no confession the witnesses that were produced by the prosecution.
The only true objective byways the janitor was incompetent to testify the other supposedly objective -- witness the one who could've stopped it.
Before it happened.
Never did anything except go to was -- it.
That's not how a reasonable person watching an adult male -- of course.
With a child -- are we was not having intercourse if he did there is no intercourse with a child Randi.
It's called rape and to call it intercourse is an insult to every one -- to.
When you watch.
An adult rape a child you don't walk out of the room and -- your -- That does not on trial for not that is not how reasonable part of the ocean is reacting is he's not he's not what's on truck and -- -- -- here's where the defense argument falls short.
They're saying it's a massive conspiracy to get money.
That worked in the case of Michael Jackson.
When there was one person.
Making his accusation -- one person could have their own little -- -- -- get money.
What you're telling me all of these people -- there -- rumors -- this is what the deal or -- make up this story and then -- of money not a sixteen minute tape proves that.
Well it's with the jury now again 48 counts so it could take awhile.
-- -- don't judge don't walking around the room what's that all well I did -- out of the -- -- -- I've been listening to the courtroom to the journalists who they feel they want control.
That that's what they want control and they want exert control so you can't.
Even when the first thing is read like he's guilty or not guilty in the first -- -- talk about you can't report any of them until the court has adjourned for the day if they do they'll sanction all of us.
Somebody will break it but it won't be us.
Will report this when we're allowed to report it will follow that allowed to -- not allowed to use any communication devices while in the courtroom and maybe it's a wave of the future you -- -- we'll say gentlemen thank.
