There -- governor Mitt Romney now leading President Obama in a head to head match up according to Gallup daily tracking poll.
Romney has a two point edge over Barack Obama within the statistical dead heat you -- -- Real clear politics average governor Romney trails mr.
Obama by two points.
What the former Arkansas governors Mike Huckabee he ran for this office years ago he's in studio now and how are you.
Well I'm doing very well where have you been hiding that.
It's -- some time -- glad to be back it's great to have you back what is your sense about.
Where this race this race is as we say in the south is as tight as a tick on -- dog and it's gonna stay that way -- November but here's here's what I think is interesting.
Mitt Romney is doing better then I think most of us thought he would be coming out of a very bruising.
Primary battle his fund raising is terrific.
His discipline of message and the discipline and his team is very very impressive.
And what he's showing is that he's taken this game straight to Obama.
This is not the Republican campaign of John McCain for years ago or McCain did not want to engage so much and become huge -- -- Romney has sent the people out there to counter hagel and and it's been a different campaign based on that answer you see only positives from -- -- Suggesting -- making all the right I think they are -- that doesn't mean that it's a lot.
We gotta remember that this election is settled basically not by the country -- settled by middle voters.
Of about 10% of the voting population in six states.
That's who really picks the next -- that 500000 voters is that up to 2.5.
Million probably within that range it could very well be that's why every vote counts.
People who say I'm just not gonna go vote especially if -- -- swing state that stupid because they really could decide flip this around right now talk about him Obama how are.
You know they've had a tough time first of all nothing is working for them fast and furious is blown up in their face like an exploding cigar the economies in the toilet.
Every week the numbers are worse than expected the economist always act surprised making you think why do economies continue to get jobs they're wrong a 100% of the time and still get paid.
But there's two things that Obama has done and done fairly well and I think may.
The month that night was uninteresting metaphor for his entire presidency.
The two things he did he raised more money than Mitt Romney did that month although Romney bested him in April but in -- he raised a lot of money.
And he spent more in his campaign -- -- -- if you think about from from Romney's perspective.
-- is President Obama as president.
Campaign fund raising and deficits and that you -- argue -- Karl Rove argues that the burn rate within the Obama team -- it is somewhat significant I think it's very significant and they are not bringing in as much as.
Every one.
Fault that they would bring -- including themselves they're having some glitzy fund -- they're doing great Hollywood great on Broadway.
They're not doing great middle America and younger voters surely gonna two point stand -- -- your Wall Street Journal just today this is a substance election.
It's not about whether one likes Barack Obama or can't -- -- Mitt Romney.
Concluding Mitt Romney says I've done it's.
To win they'll have to tell voters what it.
Means that's it is it is very good point and I think it is how to build jobs how to get people where they are not scared to death of the future.
This weekend our show features millennial -- it'll be the first time we've had a full.
Totals special just about what millennial think and the research for the show what's very shocking.
Is how millennial who were very very favorable to Obama for years ago have gone cold -- and in many cases abandon him completely.
Because now they're coming out of school with big debt no jobs and Livan back in mom's house and it's not a good situation for Obama to get.
That -- energy of those voters Peggy -- people want meaning a higher and declared purpose.
She concludes they want to know how America can come back because they're pretty sure down the that America has another comeback in there has Mitt Romney captured and delivered on that that's.
Not quite yet I think he still needs to revive the message that he's the guy that took the Olympics when it was in the tank.
In the near bankruptcy after 911 huge cost turned it around made it up not only a profit center.
But also made at the pride of America and a great moment of American.
-- celebration.
Having gone just a few months past 9/11 it was a remarkable.
I am just think that we're going to start hearing those stories -- offers no evidence twenty years ago this summer.
At Madison Square Garden when Bill Clinton was introduced to America 120 minutes -- Hollywood production roll out.
As the boy from hope now Hope, Arkansas and I would venture that people outside of I'm a hardcore democratic circles did not know that about Bill Clinton and it was like -- yeah this guy.
Well it was a remarkable film bottle LB with Harry -- later today who produce that film the other man from hope.
But but the thing that Romney will do and I believe Stuart Stevens who's his media guys brilliant.
And I think we'll put together something like that at the RNC it's not too late there's plenty of time to get an -- of what.
Most people aren't paying attention except the hard core politicos.
The real voters don't.
I'm not so sure about that.
It's my sense that I hear people say it instantly.
Well listen up who's down only a horse race they're not looking at the detailed issues and that won't happen to a lot -- later -- -- -- we'll see you Saturday night might still be stranger here I'll nontraditional you have an -- all right.
