America's election headquarters your -- to political insight this election year.

And there seemed to be growing chatter among groups on the left that Republicans are scheming to steal the 2012 election.

By suppressing the liberal vote.

Joining us to talk about this now is Joseph Trippi was Howard dean's former campaign manager Joseph is a Fox News contributor is this a new strategy -- No it's been going on for quite awhile.

What what's really happening here is -- African Americans and Hispanics.

Tend to vote overwhelmingly.

Democratic and they live in areas where operatives like me have a very easy time getting them out to but I know might get ten.

People and African American community ability nine out of ten of number -- -- gonna vote for Democrat vote for Barack Obama.

So it shouldn't be surprising at all that the Republicans want to make that process as difficult as possible for me.

Took to pull off.

You let me let me see NID let me hey you're not at this the right address -- mean those kinds of things.

To slow that process up and and on election like this one that's going to be very very close.

That they they wanna do that they've been doing that for a long time it's it's it's in both parties.

Have different advantages on get out the vote in this is something Republicans -- -- was a Republican operative I wanna slow slow up as much -- liking it.

The idea now about saying -- hearing say Nancy Pelosi yesterday talking about.

The contempt vote against the attorney general as an effort as part of -- of an effort a plan and not a coincidence that this was a scheme.

Two to keep the attorney general from being able to investigate voter suppression around the country.

I mean this is are we gonna start hearing this more now from top Democrats as we get closer to November.

Well I look I think I think.

I think Eric Holder is definitely -- authority and in in the side of folks that are passing voter right do you lies out there I mean he's been challenging -- you challenging them.

I think this is more.

About trying to get I mean I think a lot of Republicans and Republicans would love to get rid of Eric Holder I think that's what that's about I don't think it's necessarily -- a conspiracy on.

On voter ID but.

But the voter ID things really -- you know if you look at Scott Brown down in in Florida he's got a hundred something thousand people on a purge lists.

13%.

Florida voters are spanning 58%.

Of the people on that.

List or Hispanic sets.

That he's trying to purge it one of them turns out to be a World War II veteran is over ninety years old had proving who actually proved he was a citizen and can vote -- These are real problems out there and unfortunately look both sides are gonna use it.

To turn out there -- votes in the get go their voters that you know each side's gonna play you the other sides trying to steal Leo.

-- you know in there and there have been problems with governor Scott's list down in Florida that have been pointed out.

But still that's got to be a tricky spot for Democrats to be -- because they have to appear now.

To be against the idea of making certain that only.

Legal people -- -- LR are allowed to go and vote mean if you come down against the idea of cleaning up the voter rolls.

It seems that you don't really care about the B you know the process.

Well I think look the vote voter rolls.

That they're just hasn't been a lot of proof for a lot of signs really that there's been a lot of of voter fraud in any of the recent elections in terms of people don't they don't like any of these politicians in either party don't like they're -- -- to go vote.

So I mean I think look it's a problem and it needs to be fixed I think part of the problem is the lot of the fixes.

Happened to me look at Scott Brown for example it's if there's something wrong with -- with the -- down there.

And and I think the bigger problem really is right now short term -- for Mitt Romney if you have -- a situation where he's not.

He's got a growing gap with Hispanics we see the immigration fight.

And now you have the situation with 13% of -- Hispanics are on the voter rolls but 58 of them percent of Amerada right purge -- it starts to it to put the Republican Party in a predicament where Florida could be very close and it and could be a problem for him as well so there there are dangers on both sides for both parties -- maybe if the economy was doing a little better Democrats wouldn't have to worry so much about us.

That that's that's true to -- the economy gets worse or -- better that's gonna him obviously haven't been a big effect do you think we're gonna.

C a bunch of lawsuits a bunch of challenges from both sides.

So -- -- 2000.

This time around again.

Yeah I I definitely think so Rick I mean look if it.

And look there -- the Democrats are trying to steal elections so make sure your vote in Republican and the Democrats be saying the Republicans are trying to steal the election so make sure you vote.

It a law Beatty did their base out in any thing -- parties can do to slow up the other side's base.

They're gonna do and I think that's what a lot of this is about Joseph Trippi is a Fox News Channel contributor always good to talk to -- thanks so much.

-- -- -- They're -- out.
