-- -- is going to be a big week maybe as early as Monday the -- Supreme Court is likely -- the president's health care law yeah possibly Monday.

That may be.

Or if it's overturned.

Or if only certain provisions of it -- overturned joining us now to make sense at all this is Fox News medical eighteen member doctor Marc Siegel on Monday doctor Siegel let's pretend.

That's the Health Care Reform is upheld how does your life change.

It's already starting to change Ellison because.

With this law does is it increases the amount of provisions -- protections that the public can look forward to.

In terms of what everything covers more preventive services no lifetime limits no.

Pre existing condition and prevent your patience frustration -- -- is good for patients except for two things which have said repeatedly won it very expensive.

Too we don't have the doctors and nurses to administer this so I wanna make it clear that even if you have insurance coverage that you didn't have before.

If it's too easy to overuse it and it covers too much but we don't have the doctors you might not actually get the care.

So -- -- the law is upheld were concerned about how expensive this is we -- -- -- have a problem with Medicare and Medicaid.

Covering too much and they're going bankrupt and -- gonna extend Medicaid.

To sixteen million more people -- don't don't talk to the sprinkler rarely overturns some in -- congress has created.

So could that they're probably not gonna blow the whole thing -- could they just take out the individual mandate.

You know like I absolutely believe that that's what's going to happen I don't think you'll return the whole law for the reason you just but -- -- explain the individual mandate from minute we talk about a lot.

What actually is it.

It's the way to pay for the stuff I just described already in other -- since it's so expensive.

You want to get younger people in.

Who don't have health problems let them pay the same premiums the insurance companies don't have to pay out anything for -- they use the money literally we all -- -- we all have to pay but the money is then used to pay for the services.

Of those who are sick.

You get the men that you get someone who's well they pay for those who are sick it's -- -- cost sharing that's what we call it an entitlement.

But if the mandate -- struck.

We're gonna have something called the insurance death spiral and let me explain that.

The mandate by bringing in money for the insurance companies allows them to keep the premiums -- the least the semi reasonable rate.

If you strike that mandate they're gonna end up raising the premiums some experts say by ten to 30% in order to cover.

All the pre existing conditions all the bells and whistles no lifetime limit and people will wait until they get really sick so Michael that a Ponzi scheme.

I would consider that -- people wait until they're really sick before they use in other words why would you buy insurance when you don't need it when you know they got to cover you when you do.

So if the law holds and there's no man that you might wait until you're in an ambulance before you call up the insurance company -- sick.

I -- coverage that's a disaster in terms of cost and then less and less people will have insurance.

And the insurance companies are gonna go belly.

And that was the very thing that this law was supposed to fight against which was using the emergency room.

As your primary care physician if you didn't have insurance that you were supposed to be able to go get more preventative care.

And not have to do that which burdened all the other -- that somehow there's always unintended consequences of these things.

Alison this is a really important point you're bringing up and I have always said it's a good idea for everyone in the country to have some kind of insurance when they go to -- ER.

But a lot of the other things are too ambitious you talk about preventive medicine medical is on a treadmill or in a club when -- -- change your diet.

That's what preventive medicine is you know it's not something that -- the -- and also if you -- use this insurance every time you want with -- well or sick.

Imagine what the cost is.

So using it to protect people when they go to the ER is one thing that's called catastrophic parents aren't using it all the time you want is where this bill went and that's -- it's so expensive if you are accurate on yes there a couple of -- -- manage my predict unkind -- -- I don't impress us or illustrator so much of the C.
