And on that -- with the country -- -- -- the supreme court's decision on the president's health care law.
Both sides preparing for the fall out and on the campaign trail governor Romney is saying that the race for the White House could in part.
Hinge on the ruling.
The Supreme Court is going to be dealing with whether or not obamacare is constitutional if it's not.
If obamacare is not being constitutional that in the first three and a half years this president's term will have been wasted on something that has not -- the American people.
What do you think Alan -- has tested the Alan Colmes radio show and Tucker Carlson is editor of the daily caller and -- Fox News contributor thank you but for being here.
That says the election is less than five months away this was president Obama's signature domestic policy achievement.
For the Obama administration what is at stake politically.
As a Supreme Court makes their rolling Tucker I'll start with you.
-- guess I would argue that even if it is ruled constitutional it's been a waste of time and a bad thing for the American people it's certainly been a disaster for Democrats one of the reasons you've got five members of the house so far.
Three democratic senators not attending the Democratic Convention in Charlotte this -- is because Obama care.
Has hurt the president has hurt his approval rating that is also hurt the Democratic Party there's there's a reason the last congressional -- was a disaster for Democrats it's this law.
They they know this I think a lot of moderate Democrats they sent they still exist.
Resented.
So there's really no way to argue it's -- it's been a good -- for anyone so far and -- -- and what do you think.
Want to have Mitt Romney say that the presidency was wasted.
Whether it be if if the Supreme Court -- -- that is just disingenuous if not an outright lie.
Given all the other things -- president's -- does that mean if the Supreme Court upholds that that the presidency was not wasted the caller wasted presidency.
Mean I go down the list of the things this president has accomplished separate and apart from health care.
And furthermore we would not even be talking about health care nor would be talking about immigration.
Are some of these key very heavy issues of this president has had the courage to confront.
We're not for these very bold measures on the part of this this White House so we wouldn't be having this conversation or White House never address health care or at least not for number of years until before Bill Clinton or to rather after Bill Clinton had never addressed it.
There were just immigration they tried to get it done Republicans would let -- get it done so.
We're talking about this now simply because this White House was bold enough to take his initiative.
Now we are talking about it so let's take it apart just a little bit here and I was -- -- -- Starker Tucker over the weekend.
And found -- 57%.
Of the Supreme Court clerks.
They say they think that individual mandate will be overturned really everyone's saying -- that of course forcing all Americans to own health insurance.
If that happens Tucker what is the fallout for the campaigns what are the alternatives and had -- -- that.
-- -- very pleased to correct correct the last administration.
Past the individual mandate a new health care entitlement probably disaster from a policy point of view but certainly in an effort to address that the health care issue.
Look this.
Is unknowable until tomorrow but.
It seems like to the west is gonna lose for very simple reason they could not articulate an answer to the most basic question.
If you can force people to buy this consumer product health insurance what can't -- -- them with the limiting principle here.
And they didn't answer that the solicitor general was unable to answer that.
And it it in light of that it's hard to see how could be constitutional they can make it is this what campaign.
Alan if that happens yeah governor Romney supported the individual mandate and Massachusetts had had a C hands.
I did -- that's his problem I'm not only did he supported Massachusetts.
But Bob Dole had a plan Nixon had a plan republic if this was this came -- -- The Heritage Foundation something Newt Gingrich supported or so Republicans for them the same suddenly that this is a horrible piece of government -- like forcing people to buy broccoli.
When they supported this all along until President Obama did it once again disingenuous.
And not accurately portraying historically that they have supported this very measure.
-- under the current system that 16% of population left without coverage costing -- 18% of the gross national product.
If it's jot down in its entirety you re right expect either side to -- forward quickly with the resolution or plan.
-- is is the answer -- -- let me just again I don't I don't know a single conservative who ever support him.
Individual and it'll lot of -- -- away with it and I think that when I the American mind I think they were missed they were mistaken there's no defending it by the way from mr.
Romney civil libertarian perspective.
I'm not defending that how but I.
Let me say this.
The individual mandate is the funding mechanism of obamacare it's a transfer of money from the young.
And the healthy to be old in the sick with -- -- you can't pay for this television on will go out of business.
Right on that -- I have to wrap it up for that will be interested to hear what she does have to say after tomorrow I thank you very much for joining us Allan thanks --
