I don't want to go backwards today when.
Young people with children were brought to the United States and work were raised win.
-- our kids that and and went to -- with our kids are our kids are American through and through.
They don't want to go back to the.
That was President Obama speaking to supporters at a fund raiser down in Atlanta touting his.
Temporary conditional amnesty program for young adults who were brought to the United States as illegal entrants.
While they were still minors.
It's a two year program that he's done that's ruffled feathers.
And this is power -- and I can tell you this.
The program is pretty gosh are popular.
And the president is hoping to press his advantage over Mitt Romney on this question Ford O'Connell Republican strategist and chairman of the severe form -- Will help us break that down later thank you brother O'Connell.
But please.
Getting your warmest Internet welcome to congressman Henry -- -- He is a Democrat from Texas and we love having on the show congressman welcome back.
Thank you so much for your kind.
Okay so.
Give us the -- give us the skinny here when we look at now.
This issue was playing out at Democrat and the short Andy's DREAM Act these issues are huge in your district.
With that with the large Hispanic population.
But also a pretty stout conservative but -- conservatives in your district two these are not.
These are not Park Slope Democrats these are.
-- these are red state Democrats.
How's this playing on the ground with your -- -- you know certainly it's an issue that people do support.
And not only would Democrats but I just had.
Reckless -- one of biggest Republican -- and Tex says and he's supportive of this type of issues he want to see something that's reasonable and fair.
And -- -- -- I think we need to address to one of these days it's not gonna happen this year.
But maybe after the November elections sometime next year they'll be a little window that we can work on.
Now -- to your point congressman a lot of Republicans say including Mitt Romney yeah we should not be deporting.
Some 22 year old who's in the military -- enrolled in college who was brought to the United States is a -- doesn't have any criminal offenses -- Didn't choose to come here of Mitt Romney and all the Republicans basically say that.
Is it but is it okay for the president to enact this through executive Fiat.
As opposed to working through the legislative process.
Well below by as a member of congress it's going to be gaps -- the legislative process but I think what the president did was think he's.
He he was able to use that to -- -- that's been used by both Democrats and Republican now president since that 1970s.
At least at least for two years so we can address that I wanna make sure that we addresses but we got a look at some logistics.
I believe in what the president has done but the logistical part.
Was brought up to be by Border Patrol.
Agent -- -- on this last week when I was a raid on.
What he said look.
We know we're gay people that are still quote I'm quoting him.
There are still wet across in the river saying hey we are part of the DREAM Act we want to get this and asked him are you looking at the background he said no we just don't have the resources.
So we have to be very careful to address the people are here.
And not use this says that magnet.
To bring in people from other parts of the world to command so we got to look at this would just -- part of that -- the Border Patrol.
Brought up something very very very -- to to this.
Is that it's.
That is fascinating congressman that is that is very fascinating.
And I can promise you that your -- wounded look into that that's that's -- that's an interesting thought.
And last thing before we let you go.
Good to clean up some old business.
A transportation bill that's been hanging around.
Like some leftover meatloaf.
And we've got -- -- extension of the those subsidies for reduced -- student loans going forward.
We've been good people who -- jawbone in this stuff for a year are we gonna finish this work before we get to the end of the week.
It looks like there's a very good possibility and look.
You know we what are the reasons the American public is upset with congress is because some of the easy things that we should do.
Like make insurers -- loans are interest rates are low for the upper middle class the highway bill which is so important to all the states.
Those are things that we ought to be able to roll up our sleeves and get the job done otherwise the American public.
We'll get very frustrated I know -- typical issues like immigration reform and other issues that we need to address.
But the easy things let's roll up our sleeves and get it done this week I think we will -- -- I'm hoping that we -- And -- -- our Internet probably the only person that you'll ever meet who holds degrees from both the radio junior college in Georgetown.
Thanks very much congressman for -- -- this have a great day.
Thank you so much -- all right forward let me show you hole and it's not good for your team it's not hold your team is going to -- And it's the views in the quinnipiac which does a constant barrage of polls in Ohio Pennsylvania Florida they stick to those three states.
This is a matter fact I can tell if I can tell if you can tell me how those three states are gonna vote I -- we'll tell you how the election's going to be.
But they they pulled the president's temporary amnesty -- subset of illegal immigrants.
DREAM Act whatever you want to call it and hear the numbers support for it in Florida 58%.
Of.
-- 52%.
Pennsylvania 51%.
Those are big.
Big numbers right.
They are and look -- things on this first is I grew up in the great state of Texas so I understand the exact border problems -- congressman's talking about and he broke the little people real news there this this is a very serious issue unfortunately the president is using a political ploy to run around congress to actually -- off the southwest where Hispanics were you know a sizable portion of the population he's trying to have -- take you needed to his Mitt -- on his -- He is it actually addressing it very serious problem in a very half hearted way.
It's up to my authority to take the lead on this and come up with comprehensive immigration reform and secure the -- because we cannot secure the border and we do not tomorrow comprehensive immigration reform this problem is gonna continue.
Hispanics -- important -- the American fabric and we need to pay attention to this and Republicans are losing this battle and we don't do right we're going to be wiped off select format but point one.
And what I find interesting here is that the president apparently has not paid much of a price.
In these states now there was another poll we don't have a free but there is another question in this survey the -- more likely or less like the president does make you more or less likely.
And -- the less likely was higher.
But here in these numbers you see that there is not a backlash in the states especially Ohio Pennsylvania where they have.
Lot of job insecurity.
And about paying a price with the blue collar voters.
-- he is paying a price a little bit in the more upper midwestern states Iowa Wisconsin Michigan exactly and that is where he you know understands that this could come back to haunt him.
Com that said right now he's gonna stick to this but I do think that Mitt Romney has an opportunity here to take the lead on this and really push for comprehensive immigration reform most people do not understand.
Our immigration -- most liberal in the you know economic free world and it's up to us to fix it because broke.
For the -- thank you and the magic words of course are Marco -- BO's DREAM Act watch for it.
Four thank you we thank you so much you're so kind to us Internet to share some of your day.
-- with Jonathan Hunt is up next and now as we like to do every day we want to leave you with the word from our French are.
Yes I have deserting him I will not being shot.
Surprise you and I think the reason that they're scaling back.
From the extravaganza on the pump.
Though it was -- and Colorado into an event in 2008 is not because of any.
Diminution in Obama's self regard it's because we're running out of money.
So I and I think they also understand that there will be very little interest.
When you when you recall -- a president.
