It is my absolute pleasure to introduce to -- of a very special from my home state California David Duncan president and CEO of silver -- sellers.
And if you have never had a chance to experience still broke if you're a wine lover.
What you know get to the -- immediately because this is -- very special wine and a very special tour.
That you are here to talk to us about so first welcome.
You welcome here to our studios and you brought some beautiful bottles of wine and even a glass of wine we won't be drinking but we can certainly smell it.
Because silver up and so delectable.
So tell us first before the tour.
Tell people what silver up it is before we get going.
So so Brooke started in 1972.
My father was an entrepreneur or businessman.
And he partnered up with -- -- making permanent Justin -- And together they started -- -- for their percentage in 1972.
Which really was kind of a seminal time in the wind business and there's a number whiners started and 7273.
-- are still there today and we began the winery with a focus on just making cavernous.
A huge fan -- it want it I this probably isn't very fair question but.
I am a big fan of California cabernet is.
But there is something so different about silver wrote it doesn't taste like anything else it is very very special what is it -- different it's the Alexander valley.
Well there's two so we make to want to make -- -- -- valley cabernet and our Napa Valley cabernet.
And one of the things that we've always done it's over -- we focus exclusively on just making cabinet so now.
And one of the other unique things about so -- is that we use American oak barrels and so.
It's been our tradition to Ager whine about 25 months in America -- We also then bodily so -- releases so for example we currently are just summer 2007 finish that we've -- the market.
And many of our competitors are 2009 and even in some cases 2010 -- -- already so.
It's that length of aging and our -- of American but I think it's over you know so popular so people.
And -- winery in your tasting room is an iconic site to see when you pull up because when you pull up you see what's on the front of your bottle.
This magnificent tower that is the beacon in the landmark.
So for people who haven't been there what is this -- so that tower that graces the front of our label and -- we have a forty foot tower from the winery.
-- a water tower it was kind of a symbol of the Napa Valley at the time we began.
All those little farms out there used to have water towers were that would pump water.
With a windmill up into the tower so that the little farm house could have water pressure.
And that's serviceable story as it is so but also was a bit of -- not -- one of the great French -- -- to tour.
Who also focused on camera and -- and then inspiration for just my father started so well.
And so what is this tour the tower tour so we decided as a way to celebrate -- fortieth anniversary to do something kind of quirky and fun.
And we made a replica of our tower which is twelve feet tall.
His writing on the back a trailer being towed by an air stream it's on American icon -- and we're taking our icon around.
And taking photographs of them from all the the for the American icons and fun things.
On the bottom on a cross country road trip.
I think we have some photos so let's let's go through -- so a camp.
Of course the Golden Gate Bridge so this is a picture of the tower on the trailer in front of the golden gate bridge and I believe that's downtown New Orleans -- on.
You know in this thing that's the tower the I love that -- we took -- on Tuesday.
Now -- that we tech's last Sunday night I was there and that's the Washington monument with the moon that didn't look real and it was a miracle and it is actually not Photoshop part of our.
Of our important things authenticity and so -- that's the liberty bell with independents -- behind it the tower in the foreground.
That's the citadel.
That we we took we there's.
Fabulous military institution and we took out of the -- that's the Charlotte motor speedway we got in there and we have another one -- -- car racing by a script I.
-- -- statue of Philadelphia yeah.
So we've been having great fun with -- that's -- space shuttle.
How -- you know and her photographer's name is bill Tucker because he is a professional fabulous photographer's -- working like crazy.
We left June 5 from geyser of -- right and we're gonna get back to Oakville on the 27 and realized -- driving over 121000 miles sixty days wow and and what is the response -- I mean I've seen in -- we've had just tremendous response.
We had a group that made their own T shirts come out in Montana.
We've had we had a -- event for 75 people.
In Denver that we ended up having 400 people show.
We've increased -- likes on FaceBook fumble an unbelievable percentage man Twitter before pharmacists social media.
And just you know it's a feel good story in in these times where doesn't seem like a lot feels very good -- -- right.
So it's kind of a fun thing that that we're doing bringing our -- of experts to our customers.
Last night we did a dinner here in new York and we had.
Two people there that there's one are bottle story.
So we have we -- bottle stories you know people -- have an identity with our line.
Have their own story about the ones and they had.
Lots of stories of this is about a nice young couple -- -- -- -- better because of their story with so.
That's great and then.
Where are how are you taking pictures of the tower in New York we are taking we have a stunt double for the tower because he couldn't get the trailer and -- -- stream in the Manhattan.
Now we have -- -- a mini me for the tower okay and so we have and where we have a post those pictures up there should be going up probably today we got a great picture history -- the liberty bell.
Or -- me of the statue of liberty.
They were photographing Central Park this morning at 5 o'clock in the morning during a thunderstorm and so yes we should have some great pictures there and will be.
Leaving New York today and going up to Boston.
An and around we're -- -- Cooperstown Niagara Falls.
Down arch -- Saint Louis not -- sort of a lot to com and how many of you are on this -- well at any given time there's only about five people on.
-- the trip -- we're we're taking turns from the winery.
My kids and wife and -- -- begun for sixty days arrangement but it's been great fun this is my second -- on the -- -- -- That is and an ominous and lastly as well what -- what will you do to talk that's I don't know.
I mean I think you know it's just it's just been great final probably publish a book of the vote to -- and you know it's -- -- -- people -- follow on line for a long time.
Let's talk about these -- because you know for any wine enthusiast.
To have all of this on -- is just so much fun so I recognize the one all the way on the end.
Because him and everybody has a story about -- up my it.
Husband I got married just a few years ago and we got married in the other wine country in California and Amador county.
And he wanted me to have the very best wine on her the night for rehearsal dinner and on our wedding night and he got -- two bottles of silver up.
For us to share so that we would be drinking only the best of us -- so I mean that I think I'll start it -- yeah areas like that was in a special surprise to me and I recognize access feel like -- that's what he got -- so here early and the -- with a silver ten on top describe what that is.
That's our 2007 Alexander -- government can't and we produce that in Sonoma County -- -- comes from Alexander valley and and that's our you know cover.
What we call -- more approachable.
You know prepare with the broader wife.
Are wider range of fruits and mountainous sort of map for which demand won't mistake right.
And what's in the -- the middle desire to -- pinot noir and we started to -- in 1999 to me is my grandmother's maiden name -- so that's for that comes from some Irish name.
And that would produce four different you know Norris a single -- Murillo.
And a delicious states having a walk wouldn't.
Okay and then finally here and -- are the Cirque 2007 Napa which again is our current release on the Napa Valley.
And the Napa Valley is also slightly different in the Alexander in the yards and there's a 100% -- An -- has a more traditional bland cabernet below Kevin Franck and you.
So didn't describe for people because Alexander valley Napa Valley -- right next to each other right -- -- -- enters a little bit north of Napa okay so.
And they and Napa Valley also -- cabernet right.
So but what's the difference between the two cabernet is that are made and Napa.
And -- -- about well other than that the Alexander's a 100% -- and it's also tends to be just maybe a little bit warmer in the Alexander ballots for the ones tend to be.
The little softer we like to think of going of the Alexander valid then maybe a little more feminine movement in the -- being a little more masculine -- -- -- Alexander kind of pair with.
A grilled salmon.
So even pizza my lamb pork where the map you know to me is worry is that -- -- -- Great you know program -- or something like that and how -- how is your work force doing you know so many people have had cutbacks.
Obviously lots of.
Things going on their session how has silver -- survived the last few years we've been very fortunate in that in the wine drinking community.
People who go back to what they know during processions and so.
You know we've been there were trust is used -- -- broken in for that's it for forty years now we've been.
But producing just our company's seven people know what they're gonna get -- and I love the way it tastes.
We've been very fortunate during the recession and -- the restaurants have been coming back most of our one missile through restaurants.
We've been you know -- the winds continue to be very very well received.
I want to read you one of our chats this is obviously a live Internet show up comment coming in from -- list.
This -- message needs to be available to all Americans and their children so that I appreciate that.
That's -- and that's why we're doing the tower you're trying to bring it to America this of the tower or people can follow you tell people how they can find that can find you on Twitter -- -- Had a beta right so our Twitter handle is at silver -- And how come you can also follow up to me and Pat -- The tower actually has its own Twitter handle messages over a tower loud and FaceBook groups over -- and actually -- -- a wonderful place to look at photographs.
As well as in our web -- we're all supposed to photographs there which is -- dot com.
Net loss of -- and what you have -- -- -- so we this is our our.
Our 2007 Napa cabinet room and we -- feature that -- show.
And you'll I guess we'll have to wait -- off.
And I -- As we look at -- in the united the wind is so beautiful the bottles.
What -- give us some insight as the last forty years I mean you're here to celebrate you're doing this tour celebrating forty years.
You know from from the beginning to now and -- to being winemaker.
-- than -- I get I think we're very fortunate we're a family business and we're we're very closely held so we've been able to really maintain our focus.
Continue to do what we do and do -- -- do you know to have a level of excellence that's where those trying to focus on.
And and be consistent over the last forty years though I'm second generation.
You know I've got 33 Brothers and -- were all involved in the film business and and you know just keep doing what we do and as long as people haven't you continue to enjoy the line.
And and when you talk about and when you sat down just before we came on.
Have a memory of coming to silver broken there was trailer on the side you had fire yes on February 2006.
We had a fire early in the morning -- -- Men and actually write the original.
Building was a dairy barn where historical barrels -- -- building burned to the ground.
On that day and so that caused us to.
Actually have a fabulous opportunity.
In the factory got to rebuild the winery.
And there's been so many wineries -- in the last you know fifteen or 20/20 five years.
Where people build the building and they start making wine right you learn a lot you know you only get one chance a year so for us we had 35 years of experience making -- at that location.
And we were able to rebuild the entire winery.
Revamp our entire visitor experience and we we welcome visitors -- Republicans I would love -- From the visit also -- of a beautiful building and he can do a tour so you can do -- -- you can come under tasting.
We also have a full time winery -- that we -- one of food science and it's you great opportunity to come and learn a little bit more about lines -- we do.
