Right now citizens across Mexico are voting and their country's presidential election.

It appears the country's headed for a party shift PR -- or institutional revolutionary party candidate Enrique Pena and Intel has a strong lead in the polls.

Representative -- quite -- Shares a border with Mexico joins us now from Mexico City to talk about what the party shift could mean for relations between the two countries.

Congressman thank you so much for joining you at first when -- ask you what impact do you think this election may have on the issue of drug cartels along the border.

Well first of -- security is very important for us -- Crosby 2000 mile border that we have.

And I think up bayonet -- has a different -- strategy he has -- that he will fight the drug cartels.

But he does want to bring down the violence he does wanna get -- former.

Military police -- -- military folks to be up policemen.

And he just brought in as a strategy advisor the former Colombian general who was so successful.

Invited the drug cartels can -- Columbia.

I'll win or lose -- looks like he will win and what impact will his victory or loss have on relations between our two countries.

-- -- it's I have a very.

Important impact because every day there's about a billion dollars over a billion dollars -- trade between the US and Mexico.

There about six million jobs in the United States have created because of the trade that we have with Mexico so -- straight to risk that we California investment.

And I think the fact that he's talking about open up -- Pemex as you know that's something that's protected under article 27 of the Mexican constitution.

I think that's gonna allow a lot of potential.

American companies to go down there and -- down there in Mexico tried to convince -- become a win win situation for both countries.

Another issue obviously that involves both countries -- been getting a lot of headlines this issue of fast and furious and -- walking across the border.

Can I get your take on the events that have played out -- relation to that and a contempt vote against the attorney general this week for not turning over documents based on -- congressional subpoena.

We are disinterested that the content -- -- the United States congress is to get somebody to provide that information.

And we should get that information I wanna know.

What happened there are I wish that would been so witnesses.

There were involved in the ATF and other folks that -- been brought up as witnesses.

But again hopefully -- will get some information as soon as possible.

And now also the health care law this week upheld by the Supreme Court indicating those -- I had worked hard to get it passed.

I've been out of the Supreme Court has termed it at hacks would you have voted for it if that's what is being called.

Played all right again that's what the Supreme Court called that but I would say this much.

Anytime you pass a piece of legislation you've got to find -- you gotta make some changes.

I'm -- to make some changes to -- health care law.

For example that Democrats are once I don't wanna make any changes the Republicans want to go ahead -- the all all of the health care law.

I think we -- to get somewhere in the middle we ought to look at the -- sort of good bird for the American public.

And the things that need to be changed should be changed.

All right congressman play our.

-- -- in Mexico as their presidential election and the election and many other offices rolls out today thank you for making time.
