More than a million people up and down the East Coast are still without power for a fourth sweltering day.

And for many of them the frustration of sweating out the pace of recovery is mounting.

Correspondent Molly Henneberg is looking at the storm cleanup effort from Falls Church, Virginia.

Linda -- says getting a hotel room is not an option for her even after four days with no power and soaring heat we didn't want to leave our pets we have three pets.

And we could not possibly leave them alone -- says her personal training business in Falls Church, Virginia is hurting too but had very few clients willing to brave the new power to come work out in neighboring Maryland governor Martin O'Malley says many families took a hit to their food budget.

Many of them kind of stocked up for the fourth of July.

Humble this fourth of July celebrations with family in their backyard.

Who ended up throwing out a couple hundred dollars worth the -- that they could.

Not afford to lose.

More than one point two million people are still without power across seven states and Washington DC.

In New Jersey shelters offered some really.

We haven't had power since early Saturday morning.

And it's very warm it's difficult to sleep there power crews say they've been overwhelmed.

Indecisive and not up it was just too many problems -- -- just too many situations like this.

And there are situations like this in silver spring Maryland.

When power was restored some downed wires get these cars on fire.

Because of storm damage some Maryland communities have canceled fourth of July festivities including fireworks.

And in West Virginia the governor says resource is that local food pantries are running quote critically low and he's asking people to donate canned goods.

And bottled water.
