Well -- 2012 presidential election just four months away now and as summer heats up the level of interest might be cooling off.
So how well are the news media doing their jobs as we get ready for election 2012 let's talk about -- Judith Miller.

Marvin Kalb is also with us today he is former moderator of meet the press and both are Fox News contributors.
Part of our discussion today is motivated by -- pew poll.
About what people think of this election campaign let's take a look at the numbers because so far.
Voters think that this year's presidential election campaign when asked whether it will be exhausting annoying informative or exciting.
Overall say exhausting 63%.
Only 49% down there on the bottom think it's going to be exciting.
-- what do you make of those numbers.
I tell you -- rather excited about 49%.
-- I didn't realize it was that.
But you know -- at that point in -- campaign now.
We're both candidates are known the conventions don't take place until the end of August beginning.
Of September and the real campaign itself doesn't begin until Labor Day.
So -- -- that down period now and it's understandable that people get bored.
There is another -- it is Judy and I'll play that for you all put the numbers up on the screen.
The -- folks also asked whether this campaign is informative.
Say yeah that's important.
But only 40%.
Say it's being informative only 34%.
Say it's interest and at 56% say it's just.
Gone on too long.
Well this was exactly -- -- people were worried about.
And that is that kind of exhaustion factor of more than you -- seventeen debates on the Republican side I'm the I'm ending campaign.
Mean it has just it feels if he feels as if it's gone on for so long and it hasn't even begun.
And in terms of informative what I'm intrigued by is the discontent especially.
Among independent voters I mean they're really fed up with both the tone of the campaigns.
And the nature of the information that they're getting.
So I I think these numbers are predictable.
As -- said that's this is the election cycle but I also think it says something about the extent to.
Which the extensive media coverage have made the voters tired already 56%.
Say too long and to -- Marin 53%.
Say it's too negative -- there's something wrong with the way we're electing a president he's.
These days -- if you get those kind of numbers and -- Well I I agree absolutely that I'm never quite sure that it's -- activity it's over exposure.
There's just so much of the same thing.
And so after awhile people will naturally look at a Romney saying something and say my god I've heard him say this -- times now.
That that would Judy's point -- at this thing going on too long.
Is an American political Kurtz it's been going on not only in this campaign but in many other campaigns.
And one of the principal reasons is television.
People are buying more time on television.
And people -- get exposed to with.
Over and over again and they get tired they don't realize that there is a great.
Democratic experiment that is unfolding.
What about the accusation.
President Obama's been getting a lot of bad press lately.
Some in some of his supporters are -- that the media.
Have turned against him is is it because the media have turned against him or is it because there's been a lot of bad news coming out of the White House.
Well I think there's been some disappointing economic news but this isn't very good week for the president.
In terms of -- Obama care decision.
I mean this is now we can call it obamacare he's call it obamacare he won -- major major battle over his signature legislation.
The Republicans are now on the defensive Mitt Romney hasn't known what to called us isn't attacks is it a penalty if this and I think that that.
-- actually the Obama campaign should not become final.
But -- that at the same time Marvin -- surveys indicate that the American people don't like get them I mean the Supreme Court may have approved it but the American people don't like.
Well there's no question that the numbers.
Have remained essentially the same before the Supreme Court voted and after the Supreme Court voted.
It's still that much a slight majority.
It's not even a majority it's a plurality of the American people.
Do not care for the Obama care as it is put.
One of the reasons in my judgment anyway is that it has never been.
Properly explained by the president or the Democratic Party.
I think that when they do get into the campaign and it's not gonna happen now.
But in another a couple of months there's going to be an emphasis upon this if for no other reason than the Republicans will -- it.
That then becomes an opportunity.
For the Democrats to respond.
In a concrete way so that people understand what is in fact happen.
At this particular point there's an awful lot of stuff going on that's just words now small words less words -- -- just work.
San a lot of people aren't paying attention as the summer is upon innocent people are on vacation and so it's not for -- -- -- about four months ago.
