The unemployment rate is stock at eight point 2% President Obama trying to prove he's turning the economy around calling the report quote.

A step in the right direction.

We -- this morning that our businesses created 84000.

New jobs last month.

And that overall means that businesses have created four point four million.

New jobs over the past 28 months.

Including 500000.

New manufacturing jobs.

That's a step it.

-- -- -- -- But we can't be satisfied because our goal was never.

To just keep on work -- to get back to where we were back in 2007.

-- numbers understate.

What people are feeling.

And the amount of pain which is occurring in middle class America.

Not only is the eight point 2% number unacceptably high and one that's been in place now for over 41 months.

But in addition if you look at the broader.

Analysis of people who are out of work.

We're dropped out of the workforce.

Or that are underemployed.

And part time jobs meeting full time work it's almost 15% of the American public.

Let's bring in our campaign insiders doesn't show on Fox News contributor former pollster for Bill Clinton packet LT to a Fox News contributor and a former pollster for president.

Jimmy Carter John -- BA former Republican congressman.

From New York gentlemen good to see you all to see you all know president -- has been reelected since the Great Depression with unemployment above seven point 2% that you know what to say about history repeats itself.

Until it doesn't and Obama Connor has that tendency to -- history.

Well that's right and what he is trying to do because the news is so bad.

Is to make.

Mitt Romney the issue in the campaign attacking my -- Swiss banking accounts -- performance as governor of Michigan and bottom line the challenge now is can.

Romney turned the tables and make Obama's performance on the economy the issue so far it's still an open question Greg.

Right Americans aren't happy with president Obama's hand -- of economic issues take a look at the Rasmussen poll shows almost half.

Say that he has done a poor job and in fact when you add up poor plus fair you're talking about 67%.

A really kind of giving -- a negative on nap but then you check the Gallup poll.

And pat look at this it gives the president a two point lead.

Over governor Romney and and if he's doing so badly handling the number one issue the economy how -- city's leading Romney.

Well because Romney hasn't been able close the deal -- -- of his problems first ball.

The president looked -- he had a very bad -- as we -- on this program of the very cruel month.

Sort of a bad economic job numbers in -- -- bad economic job numbers.

And he did have some other problems -- -- beliefs through it any still standing.

He's standing in news and with the -- -- numbers show 17 numbers are there numbers Doug had numbers that -- right hand maybe specifically on just the economy.

Which closer to even.

It is because he has -- -- said he'd been making the issue about the economy.

Questions about my opponent.

Romney is not -- is set forth the play had the vision the ideas or throw himself in and up to in fact hurt the president up on this issue.

President should be -- right about now sure.

-- you know congressman I don't want to get too much into the numbers here and we don't have a graphic for this but I'll just tell you.

A Fox News -- you know 41%.

Think the President Obama has a clear plan for what to do about the economy 41%.

How many how much does Romney -- When -- set that has been our refrain in the three of us with you almost every Sunday if you had a couple of months and you know -- July -- there's still time for governor Romney.

To make -- strategic shift in his approach here and really go out and act.

Presidential.

And give -- talk to the country repeatedly.

Not just trashing Obama we've heard enough about.

But tell us what you're gonna do as president to change the future course of the country with some -- And some optimism because the country is really -- put up the electoral map as bad as it's -- -- -- Bomb -- -- frozen I mean Obama 221 in the electoral map Romney -- 181 -- 136 hasn't gone anywhere hasn't changed 270.

Needed to win.

It shouldn't change it should have -- should have been more movement -- if anything there is evidence.

That in fact.

You could argue may have -- who had lost a little there's some polls show that I think he actually slipped a little bit.

You don't.

You know he should have taken advantage of this month and John is on the something and so was -- He needs to if it's 27%.

In the -- all right -- as a clear -- hey how about a clear plan.

You don't you could contrast to the present that 41 number for an incumbent is not a great number and Pat's Pat's exactly right great.

If we were running this campaign when I think we've collectively do is get the candidate in the room in Boston and say look.

We have to have something more than cut taxes cut regulation cut spending in need of vision for the future clear politics you know.
