So now we're learning the FBI is offering a million dollar reward to track down the people responsible for killing.
Border agent Brian Terry -- of the firearms found at the scene have been linked to that botched fast and furious gun running -- The FBI vowing justice for the Terry family.
Brian.
Terry was truly an agent to agent he wasn't -- a deep courage.
And honor.
And that is something.
That despite.
All the atmospherics.
Around this case this prosecution team the FBI the Border Patrol are very focused on.
We -- not destructive.
And I want -- Terry -- and -- we will give everything to it and we will not rest until these individuals.
Are brought to justice.
Want to bring in Matthew Miller former aide to attorney general Eric Holder Department of Justice spokesman in -- good morning to you and thank you.
For your country and there's an obvious question is this story continues to go on now.
Why now like this move by the FBI this moment.
Well I think it's hard to know from the outside but I can tell you that did they make these decisions about -- unsealed indictments based on law enforcement purposes.
Oftentimes there are staying there running there are suspects whose -- -- who don't know that they are under suspicion.
There may be confidential informants whose identity -- would be exposed if you moved too quickly.
And so they take these steps deliberately when they think that exposing the names.
Making them public and offered a reward money could lead to their arrest and ultimately that's what this case about it.
I think that that's that's an excellent points and -- experience -- these announcements lead to an arrest.
-- -- -- all in all likelihood these guys are in Mexico somewhere right.
Yeah they they they most likely are but they often do lead to arrests have been a number of arrests of of suspects that -- different cartels.
Over the years in Mexico after their name's been publicized and significantly after of reward of this amount.
Is made available on -- million dollars is a lot of money and presumably there are people in Mexico -- know where they are who who you know could be enticed by.
-- basically on this drug trade yes I'm not much money talks and we see that time again Darrell ice is said yesterday that the family should have had this done for them.
A long time ago.
You agree with that.
You know I.
I -- chairman nicest comments I I think.
You know when he accuses career law enforcement -- Career law enforcement agents career prosecutors have taking politics into account its.
It's really reprehensible and shows that he doesn't understand how law enforcement works well but if you -- if you remember that Terry family.
What would would I be satisfied with the pace this investigation -- final member of the Terry family I won't be satisfied until every person responsible for her that for the death.
A Brian -- brought to justice and I can tell you that's how everybody in federal law enforcement feels as well.
There is a real brotherhood in federal law enforcement among agents among prosecutors.
And when one of them falls in the line of duty -- Brian Terry has.
Everyone else works together and makes a top priority to bring the killers to justice and that's what they're doing here and for I think to try to politicize that is really I think beneath a member of.
Congo but what he's been -- sometime is that it is trying to get answers.
And I think the question ultimately is whether or not fast and furious was a good idea.
Was it.
-- I I don't think there's any question that it was not a good idea.
And and that's why the attorney general when he found out about stopped it.
The chairman -- has had his answers about about how this this operation was devised he knows noses -- a field level tactic and Arizona he's got all the documents that lead to that.
But but he's not been satisfied with that is moved to political comments like we saw from him yesterday but.
It at the end of the day of and others -- argue without his voice on this he would not be getting anywhere.
With this oh instigation.
I think.
I think that's not accurate but long before chairman -- -- ever said a word about fast and furious.
The attorney general Eric Holder ordered an internal inspector general investigation -- DOJ and I think we'll know the results of that investigation in several months what would he would content I -- deliver this again live from errors but -- but he was say listen you've given the IG.
80000 documents you've given -- eight the house.
Right -- that's not right.
Well there are reasons for that their their documents that that.
DOJ is prohibited by law from giving to -- people outside the department.
People who -- documents that are under grand -- still for for example and they can give those documents inspector general and they have.
But but I I think you know back to your earlier point.
Investigation that's really the most important here is is.
Finding out we know what happened to to agent Terry how he's outraged and I happen -- bringing killers just.
Yes and we've been in touch military family and that's what they want and this -- and hopefully in the end they will get past.
Sooner -- so rather than later Matthew Miller thank you for your time.
