Now imagine talking to a group where you know more than nine added ten in the audience don't much like you.

Or at least strongly prefer your opponent I imagine being Mitt Romney speaking to the NAACP.

Today.

Let's just say not a solid Republican demographic the welcome everybody out Leo -- and Barack Obama got 96%.

96%.

Of the African American vote for years ago he pulls some -- strongly.

Today editor Mitt Romney to say he.

Would be a better presidential choice for them today that went surprisingly.

Okay for him that is until.

Mitt Romney started ripping the president's health care law of then.

This.

-- -- our goal is jobs.

We have to stop spending over a trillion dollars more than we take in every year.

And so.

This ought to do that I'm -- -- eliminate every nonessential.

Expensive program I can find.

That includes obamacare and I'm gonna work to reform and save.

Are that -- -- well then Mitt Romney with and they had only -- moments later finally we're calling that moment.

We expected that of course but you know I'm gonna give the same message to the NAACP that I -- across the country.

Which is that Obama care is killing jobs.

Added jobs is the priority that we're gonna have to replace obamacare was something that that actually holds -- health care costs.

As opposed to -- causing more spending for the government and more spending for American families.

I'm obviously that didn't sit well -- everyone in that room governor.

As you know four years ago of Barack Obama got 96%.

All of the black vote.

-- you expected chip away on that.

I do actually I spoke with a number of African American leaders after the event that they said -- -- A lot of folks don't wanna say they're not gonna be voting for Barack Obama.

But they're disappointed.

It is lack of policies to improve our school.

A disappointed in urban policy disappointed in the economy fourteen point 4% rate of unemployment among African Americans today.

The president has not been able to get the job done that people want to see -- I didn't get this economy going.

So I expect to get that African American votes sent by the way at the end of my speech -- -- standing ovation was was generous and hospitable on the part of the audience.

And I believe that while we disagree on some issues like obamacare.

I'm lot of issues people see -- -- they want somebody get the economy going to get.

You know governor you would -- in the pockets of your remarks what's your father.

Had -- as the governor of Michigan.

How we had obviously put the civil rights are not only within the -- of the state but it was hard.

It's -- fight housing discrimination.

When he became a cabinet secretary for Richard Nixon.

-- many of turn that.

Reflect sit around and your dad to your dad releasing his tax returns.

And you not and it's become this big battle back to thwart.

-- feel about that.

Do you feel -- need that you should be released more data -- at the very least quiet critics now.

You know the Democrats are always going to be critics.

We've -- -- -- dull the financial statements that are required by law.

And then released two years of tax returns the most recent year will be really sick as soon as that's prepared.

So what tax information is there other -- that's -- disclosures there.

The same information and level that John McCain and John Kerry for that matter released for their running for president so.

You know that they're always gonna be after me for -- -- -- the other but you know I know the president wants to talk about transparency I'm glad he wants to talk about transparency.

Because he has used executive privilege.

To prevent the American people from knowing the truth about what happened with the festive spirit program.

And that resulted in the loss of life of Americans I think it's time for him to open up transparency.

Added -- up but -- frankly it's is -- called upon by the American people to know what happened to get to the bottom of this very outrageous.

Scandalous activities.

May be odd because the economy has been struggling out that the president and Democrats a general -- there.

Attention to try to make you the issue are maybe -- wealthiest of maybe your Bain Capital days the issue.

And a lot of your staunchest defenders governors say you're not responding.

Aggressively -- -- that you're not espousing the virtues of private capital that it's not a risk like public tax money.

But that you're not doing that you waiting for the fall or you just feeling that these arguments aren't worthy of a counter.

Well I've course respond to the attacks come but you know they say in politics if you're responding you're losing.

I think the better course for our campaign.

It's to respond to the attacks as soon as being completely off base for instance.

Independent fact checkers about the to be false or misleading -- point that out.

We put that out and ads as well.

But perhaps most importantly every day I get what give a speech.

I talk about the issue people care about and that is the failure of the president's policies to reignite this economy.

And I know they're all these attacks -- -- by way but I I saw what the Washington Post a poll I think it was this morning.

Showing that the president's.

Support -- not brought at all might have not been diminished by his attacks people.

But already tired this kind of petty attack that comes -- day out from politicians like the president.

And they want to see somebody talks about the issues they care about good schools good jobs.

The president wants to make this a campaign about a tactic well I want to make it a campaign about helping the middle class.

Governor you mentioned get -- polls in the Washington Post and others and and there's so many ways to look at this -- but one.

But I've done it just -- among married voters you're -- off favored 51 to 38%.

But among unmarried voters the president.

It's a twenty point lead.

What what you think that is.

Yeah I haven't seen that -- that -- and there as the original -- -- it is about I have no idea why don't they got.

Yeah I'd I don't know why that is.

I expected by the time this campaign is over.

Whether you're single or married black or white Hispanic scored not a static that you're gonna recognize that the policies -- proposed.

We'll do a better job helping Americans that the policies the president's volley he is put us on a track where we're seeing chronic high levels of unemployment.

No wage growth -- more attractive becoming like like Europe.

Italy Spain -- with fiscal calamity at the doorstep that that that is not the course the American people want that I think if I continue to make that.

That gotten that message clear.

Well get the support I need to become the president back up November.

-- -- -- -- President Obama made some news last night speaking to wait I believe it was a Miami -- Spanish language station Cindy Hugo Chavez of Venezuela posed no serious national threat.

To the United States what did you make of them.

I was done by comments and shocked by them.

This is that Hugo Chavez this is Venezuela this his job -- -- invited Iran yeah.

Who's invited Hezbollah.

Hezbollah.

Of course being a surrogate.

At a proxy for Iran would potentially have access to it to weapons that could be used against us this -- This is Chavez who -- champions league boulevard in revolution movement.

That is that is spreading dictatorship said.

And charities throughout that Latin America this is this is Chavez.

-- -- -- -- And other terrorists that activity and in nations like Colombia that are friends.

The idea that this said that this nation that this president.

Doesn't pose a big national security threat in this country is simply naive.

It's it's that they -- at the extraordinary.

Admission on the part of this president to be completely out of touch with what's happening at lab America.

Latin America is critical to America the United States of America.

And the president needs to focus on what's happening there what Chavis is doing what the cast -- of doing.

That these are people who -- call for a terrible acts against America.

And at that suggest that somehow this is an important itself I think you're very misguided and misdirected -- thought of the part of our president.

The governor -- switch gears a little bit I do want to answer because I've heard rumors that you might make a running mate.

Choice before the convention.

Is that true.

I can't tell you anything about that BP process that deal you know that if if I did I -- that you know.

I had to come after you -- by a man in black -- flashlight that veterans are beverage.

What -- but if if if for example someone has not been vetted yet is it fair to say he or she is not being considered.

I got nothing for your dale I've gotten out before you on the vice presidential process he we're waiting for that very well that I see how about that.

They yelled again that nothing means nothing.

Well I tried governor.

Thank you very much it's always a pleasure be well.

Bags -- got to do it you.
