Well a Major League Baseball player now at the center of legal battle between two sporting good company Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has won three Golden Globe awards so it's fitting that he wears a gold glove while he's playing.
The thing is Rawlings.
Sponsors the gold glove award it has for decades but the glove Phillips has been wearing on the field.
Is made by the industry rival Wilson.
So Rawlings is suing to stop Wilson from selling gloves with quotes.
Gold wedding gold colored fabrics.
-- other gold lettering gold staging any other metallic gold colored material or any other features that are confusing -- similar.
The complaint accuses Phillips of using and promoting what it calls the infringing.
Wilson -- Wilson has not yet responded to our request for comment.
But our legal panel I'm sure will former prosecutor Jeffrey gold.
And criminal defense attorney Randy -- and so already there's analog -- -- already get editing gold nobody can -- -- -- with gold it seems like.
It's taken it kind of far.
And seriously.
We need to look for -- silver lining in this whole thing I mean it is a very simple bottom line.
It's all about is someone going to be confused is someone going to be deceived into thinking hey that's a Rawlings gold glove aside from the fact it is a big W.
On the -- I don't believe anybody's looking at Brandon phillips' glove and saying hey I'm gonna go out and -- that Rawlings glove.
It's clearly a Wilson glove there's no confusion there's no intent to deceive what are we gonna do say -- a quarter of them walking on the gold you gotta be kidding me.
C'mon Jeffrey they're Rollins -- say look we trademark this just like you know Pat Riley trademark three PU gotta pay every use and this is very thing.
And that -- trying to rip -- -- off a a well they do have rights here and Wilson is trying to sneak in a little bit of what Rawlings has paid for you know they paid for the golden -- they'd trade market.
I agree this isn't gonna go that far it's -- operation now by Rawlings to just make sure that Wilson doesn't keep doing it this isn't gonna end up in money damages but it's gonna end up in some service settlement.
Where they they stay off of Rawlings toes and -- -- -- Well he says no money damages ready to Rollins wants damages and they want Wilson to stop selling anything -- gold.
In the future I -- damages you could be talking about -- you're talking a lot of Monday could be asking for.
All perhaps we should blacked out Jefferies lest they may be -- we'll go after him because his last Imus called.
I mean come on seriously again it's all about deception and confusion and an intent to deceive and confuse.
Nobody's getting confused.
