If our goal is jobs.
We have to stop spending over a trillion dollars more than we take in every year.
-- -- -- ought to do that I'm gonna eliminate every nonessential.
Expensive program I can find.
That includes obamacare and I'm gonna work to reform and save.
I can't promise you that I'll agree on every issue.
But I do promise that your hospitality to me today it will be returned.
We will know one another.
But Romney -- NN double ACP convention in Houston today some cheers some jeers.
The Republican governor -- former governor of Massachusetts kept -- to the economy most of it.
And pointed to the jobs figures the June jobs number eight point 2% unemployment and -- the African American community.
Fourteen point 4% he mentioned that after the speech spoke to Neil Cavuto about the reception.
I spoke with the number of African American leaders after the event that they -- A lot of folks don't want to say they're not gonna be voting for Barack Obama.
But they're disappointed at the end of my speech navigate standing ovation was was generous and hospitable on the part of the audience.
And I believe that while we disagree on some issues like obamacare.
I'm lot of issues people -- -- -- they want somebody get the economy going again.
What about this -- -- back at a panel want.
Well I just thought it was such a bold move by.
Mitt Romney who are normally think of whereas -- cautious.
Politician.
Not to go before the NAACP.
Because you know we could easily use.
Had a bad moment I mean remember Ross Perot with you people.
And that you know that became the story.
And so here he goes before and not only that.
When the -- started with regard to obamacare he didn't -- -- and that to me that was very impressive he then explained his position.
Think they explain in terms of jobs and the economics.
And I think that he might have won some people at least -- respect if not -- vote.
And I would -- here he also I think -- spoke to a critical issue when he talked about poor quality education in the black community and why is it.
That people don't hold President Obama accountable.
And don't put more pressure on him this goes back to we're talking about in the first segment in terms of that relationship between Democrats and the units that President Obama is not addressing.
The convention Vice President Biden this.
It is win win for Mitt Romney going down there as wants us John McCain got 4% of the African American -- Same shared that David duke got running for governor of Louisiana he had nothing to lose he has everything to gain by going down there are being respectful.
And speak out frankly for against obamacare.
That reinforces his position back with his own constituency.
And -- point is well taken -- 14% unemployment in the black community.
Upwards of up to 50% dropout rate in some inner cities.
73%.
Illegitimacy rate -- -- year old girls in Chicago selling candy are being shocked.
And that's not the fault of Mitt Romney I think -- something the NAACP.
Or to be -- and I gift for Mitt Romney credit for at least raising unemployment question.
Charles.
I agree entirely.
We -- the one.
Which of course is alarming.
-- -- Whatever -- -- a moment.
And they're hard copy that I think Romney himself alive number one -- down -- -- showing up as 80% of life.
He showed up and are still what -- non friendly environment.
And I do agree the way he handled the opposition.
In the speech is important because Romney has a reputation as a guy who doesn't have a core who doesn't have a spine and -- Change his position depending on the audience -- the time of day.
And so he goes out there he speaks about obamacare we sustained some -- and any use.
Evidence -- he has an Obama -- been our jobs so I think he showed that -- stick to his guns will be respectful.
And the importance here I think used to show that.
To show a distinction between Republicans and Democrats the Democrats since -- -- coalition.
Of special interest constituencies Obama.
You know he goes after Hispanics blacks women's gays students unions -- Daniels in front of each of them.
Something either legislation or financial reward of Chiming in the tax code.
Romney saying I'm gonna act non ethnically -- specific -- him and act as a present of all Americans.
We all eleven inches and strong economy auto emissions and jobs and missile -- was it -- -- other American.
What about on another issue conservatives concerned about the Romney campaign that there.
Not bold enough despite we're saying here about this move and that they need more heavy hitters on the team what do what do you see about I don't know about the heavy hitters but I -- Are concerned I think the the -- capital attacks and the Cayman Islands things and Swiss bank accounts and all the rest -- that suggests she's a corner Carter.
And then you're into the Bain Capital thing about it sort of -- -- -- -- and then.
And I think it's it's very damaging to.
Mitt Romney especially among working class folks in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
And Michigan and I think governor Romney's got to have -- I think he's got to come to a program.
A positive program on the economy and he's got to get her -- -- new people.
I don't know about new people but he's I think Tunisian speechwriters -- -- Carrying a former speechwriter.
Pat we've never had a winner of the New Hampshire primary on the panel also 1996.
Thought they assert panel thank you that's.
