Sergeant William person this year but once take a moment to thank your board chairman Roslyn Brock.
And president Ben jealous for their leadership and strong partnership that they formed my administration.
I want to thank everybody and NAACP is a hundred -- convention for coming together.
Not just today but every day to bend the -- -- the moral universe towards justice.
When I was a videotaped message has played this morning at the N double ACP convention in Houston Texas.
The White House said the president could not make it personally to -- convention because of a scheduling issue instead they sent vice president Joseph Biden.
But several political writers have notice -- the president's public schedule for today appears to be completely empty.
Again raising the question asked earlier this week about whether the president is taking the black vote for granted in this election.
Joining me now reverend -- Owens president of the coalition of African American pastors reverend thank you so much for being here so you're there in Houston.
Do you think the president is taking the Blackwell for -- I think via.
Well probably -- that he has taken the backbone for granite.
Why.
Well we have been so catering to the president I think he just thinks that because -- black.
We go to vote for.
Is beyond -- something because -- you know his approval rating among blacks is 9697%.
Which is obviously not the same.
As it is in the general community.
Well.
I think he's taken it for granted I think with him announcing support.
Same sex marriage did you go to change that dynamic.
I don't believe it's going to be the thing.
Yeah I know that's a big issue for you and I just what -- correct myself I don't know about the approval rating but the support in terms of the polls since 9690 some percent of the black communities with him.
I know that's a big issue for you the president coming up personally endorsing gay marriage although he hasn't made that part of his platform for reelection do you think.
That that is an issue for just a small group because if it if it had been a bigger issue you -- over a month since he announced that he was personally favor of it.
When we BC and that the -- by now.
I don't know that the polls that we are saying correct.
I do know that we have pole -- -- out hope to -- show.
That he had that great -- -- said -- -- the black vote.
So I don't know at the polls that you look at that Akron.
And some of the big -- -- might be.
Not being about it.
Because I -- some of the black Americans -- -- -- -- Out of feel pressure -- -- BS saying that we have multiple of what they have thousands that say they will not vote -- do you think they'll wind up voting for Mitt Romney or they'll stay home.
I don't know math I'm going to be very candid.
-- of them are saying they would stay hole.
What they will not cast a -- -- Obama.
-- saying -- stay home we don't know how will fall we still have some time to go before the day of the election.
They're Mitt Romney can do the right thing said the right things some I would -- I don't know why president.
Gordon for the president to show up.
Personally physically.
At this NAACP.
Convention and he did rocking in 09 he would be sent the First Lady and ten.
Something like that men and then now this year vice president Joseph Biden and the president says -- video message why is it important for him to be there physically you're -- It was important for you of the -- Barrett because you should've been back.
Hi how -- he would have been bad.
He's got taken NAACP from grab it can double ACP yet candidate to the president did.
They're doing is wheeled by endorsing same sex marriage and I don't think -- count them in Bingham was down because the -- as a but if you look at why the end of late to be voted the same thing -- it was a few of them.
Have they let -- that that they left that to the message that the members of the NAACP they would blow they had to do of them -- welcome to our.
And I think the president -- -- the serious mistake.
I've taken the black vote for granted and I think the NAACP.
-- -- the series but they.
I -- pandering to the president and endorses same -- better.
Kevin Allen thank you so much for your thoughts sir all the best to you.
